Agreed... Rex was also crystal clear yesterday (or maybe the day before) that they had a plan to keep this thing open through the 2nd preseason game...Something the media jackals who are so quick to write EJ off have completely ignored... And I'm not saying EJ does not have to go out there and prove he can win this thing...I don't want him to be the QB unless he earns every bit of it...I'm just saying that for two days now some folks on WGR are having real discussions on whether or not EJ will be cut this year...Something most of them seem to believe is the right thing to do...And I just think it's so ridiculously premature based on what Rex and Roman have said and laid out for them...

Roman seemed to indicate EJ's main problem is getting the Offense down, which may very well be why he's slotted in at #3 in this first game because that means he'll likely play a lot...I got the impression that Roman really likes EJ's potential, but Cassel and TT have a leg up because they are more experienced...Who knows? I definitely did not get the impression that Roman was challenging EJ whatsoever...He seemed to be very happy with him...

I hear you...Believe me I do... But after listening to Roman last night on Murph I would honestly be surprised if they cut EJ... I really would...

Fair enough... I was thinking that...perhaps...they had a plan in place through the first two preseason games (Cassel starts #1, EJ starts the Browns joint practices, TT starts #2...or something like that)... They stick to that plan as a 3 way competition then after the 2nd preseason game make the final shifts based on all the knowledge gained...If Cassel starts anything after this week before preseason game #3 I do think the writing is on the wall...

Or...EJ is the 3rd QB this week in the rotation and everything is different next week...And it remains a 3 way competition like they've been saying from day #1... If EJ is #3 again next week then I'll tend to agree...

Just curious...Who is saying anything about the organization? I think Rex and Whaley have been pretty upfront and honest where EJ is concerned both good and bad...Of course that has not stopped some folks in the media from making ridiculous assumptions based on absolutely nothing despite what the Coach and GM say...

I heard the same this this AM...I think there's no question EJ may not win this job...Everyone knows that...But these kind of reports are just killing me...Rex addressed EJ's day in his presser...It's just mind-boggling to me that at this point of camp, before a single pre-season game, anyone can assume that one bad practice would disqualify anyone...Good grief...What the hell did EJ do to these guys?

Joe B reminds me of someone that learned everything he knows about football from Todd McShay write-ups... And I'm only half joking...I'm definitely not one who believes you had to play the game to talk about it intelligently...But an expert is an expert, and a reporter is a reporter...And maybe it's just me...But if a reporter is not a jock, I pay less attention to them on the X's and O's stuff...Some things are obvious to the non-jock eye...Some are not...I don't see Joe B as a jock...So...It's hard to take his play-to-play analysis seriously... Please allow us to vent and trample on the guy in peace... Thank you very much...
