  1. He literally said as much this am... "I don't need EJ Manuel coming in and playing games like he did against SD and Houston...And sorry if I don't believe him throwing a few TD's vs a Pittsburgh team that was really indifferent...that doesn't make me think he'll be much better...He was behind the other two in camp...I don't think they need the cap room for anything...At this point what do you need it for? You're not signing up for 10 years of Matt Cassel...It's just this year..." "With EJ Manuel I think there is a good chance that he comes in and throws the game away...that you lose the game because of him...Which is what happened...OK the Chargers game...they were beating them...But that Texans game...that was their's...The reason they lost that game is because the QB played SO badly..."
  2. It only makes no sense if the two young guys are not playing well or properly absorbing what Roman wants them to learn about the system...If the two young guys play better than expected and have the coaches confidence it makes all the sense in the world to release Cassel...Why have him standing in the way?...He's not part of the future...I don't like the fact that we gave up picks for him...But it's not like they gave up much...So...
  3. I really do believe this is the best move... Cassel was brought in as vet insurance...TT and EJ are both young and relatively inexperienced...But the way the two young QB's have played Cassel is simply not needed anymore...I think removing him from this whole equation is smart...TT and EJ are the future and the future is clearly now...It's nothing against Cassel...The two young guys just got better...
  4. Exactly... It's not like there is not precedence for any player taking some time to learn in order to reach his potential... The sports world is littered with examples...Furthermore it's almost always assumed that coaching makes a HUGE difference...Anyone who follows this team and can't admit that EJ looks FAR better this preseason than he did last preseason is an idiot...It seems pretty obvious to me...Good coaching + good offensive system + good running game + experience in said system + great arm + raw talent + work ethic + smarts = better QB... But somehow that equation, for some at least, does not apply to EJ Manuel...I have no idea exactly what EJ did to guys like Coller...But it must have been pretty bad...
  5. After listening to Coller this AM on Howard's show I have a little different take on his post-game attitude... Even though the conversation turned to his Cassel prediction it seems to me Coller was mostly upset with the fact that EJ actually played really well...Coller is in this class of reporters, and some fans, who refuse to believe EJ can ever improve beyond the QB we saw vs SD and Houston last year...And despite the glowing reviews of Roman and his abilities as an OC, that praise does not apply to coaching EJ Manuel...And I think guys like Coller are so stuck in their EJ hatred it actually bothers them to see him improving and playing well...Why this is for any Bills fan or reporter that follows the Bills is WELL beyond my understanding...But yes...I think it's a thing... This AM the discussion turned to who the back-up QB should be and of course the consensus between Coller and Howard was that it should be Cassel...But Coller decided to back up his belief with the "facts" that we know who EJ is...We know he can't be trusted...We saw in the SD and Houston games...He lost those games by himself...blah, blah, blah...You could hear it in his voice...That dude does not like EJ... For the life of me I just can't understand how people can on one hand praise Roman as an OC, and on the other hand assume he can't bring out the best in a 25 year old, 6-5 QB with a great arm who is smart and a hard worker...In interviews I have heard with Roman he has praised EJ...saying he's got it all...and only needs to master the system in order to reach his full potential...Yet to guys like Coller EJ is still the same guy who, at times, played poorly under a College HC and OC who struggled to come up with anything in terms of effective offensive football...A run 1st offense that could not run the ball, and could not protect the passer...But somehow, in that horrendous circumstance (especially for a young QB), EJ managed to reach his full potential as an NFL QB in his 13th and 14th starts according to Coller...It's a joke... So anyway...I think that whole post-game attitude was about Coller's inner EJ hate coming to the surface...He really did want TT to win the job...Or maybe more specifically he wanted anyone but EJ...I actually like Coller when he talks about hockey...I don't think he's got a half-a-clue about NFL football though...
  6. Well...That would be almost impossible to pass up...Especially considering most teams that may be looking for QB's are not great...
  7. Thank you...My sentiments exactly...
  8. I really have not paid too much attention to the why's concerning Richardson...So what is it? He looked OK in his rookie year...But since then...Wow! Brutal...
  9. I listened to the whole post game...Every minute...No question he stated he preferred TT while predicting it would be Cassel...Which in almost any circumstance would be fine... But he took it to another level...IMHO, in his own condescending fashion, he was basically calling out anyone who saw the Bills QB situation any different than it had been reported by WGR...I just felt after listening to him that he was pissed off that anyone would have a differing opinion, especially if they felt EJ deserved a shot...He just came across to me as someone who was unwilling to see the other side of the argument and was verbally frustrated about he fact that he was getting calls that disagreed with his take... That was just my take on the situation...
  10. Well...Hopefully he gets dizzy and falls down a lot if Darby is on him...
  11. Right now he's not... But I think Rex and Roman are smart...They see his potential...I would not count EJ out at all in Buffalo... Then again I'm wrong a lot...
  12. His value will never get higher? So...you're certain a 25 year old who is very obviously improving under real NFL coaching in only a few months in the new system, and was not terrible before this improvement with idiots coaching him, is not going to get any better? OK...
  13. You don't get the logic because there is none...
  14. Take it to the bank then...IMHO Glazer is better than the rest with this sort of thing...He's rarely wrong...
  15. Clearly? Did you see Karlos in that 1st game? The kid runs possessed...I don't think it's clear at all... The Bills are just loaded at RB and Freddie is the oldest...Can he still play? Absolutely...It's not like this was an easy decision for the Bills...But I doubt they thought Williams would look as good as he has...And Boobie is a ST's animal...Fred just got squeezed out...I hate it too...But I don't think it's going to make any difference on the field...
  16. From a football standpoint I can understand it...I think in the end it was going to be Boobie or Fred...And Boobie is one of the better ST's players in the league... From a personal standpoint I really hate this... Oh well...
  17. Speak for yourself... Sorry upfront for my frustration...But...Good grief...What is wrong with people like you?... Can you not clearly see the difference good coaching has done for EJ? I mean...You obviously can remember the bad things EJ did...Why can you not, for a second, consider the possibility that the light has gone on and he's going to continue on the path of reaching his potential under REAL NFL coaching?...It may be preseason but it's preseason for everyone...and there are only 4 QB's with a better QB rating than EJ this preseason...their names are Stafford, Bradford, Ryan, and Brees... This instant gratification mentality is a joke...If you're going to cast away a young QB like EJ before his prime in a QB needy league you do so at your own risk...At this point EJ is clearly getting better when the likes of RGIII, Gabbert, Locker, Ponder, and Weeden fall...Did you see Derek Carr last night? Young QB's make dumb decisions...It happens...It's part of the learning process...Andrew Luck was the the next coming...His rookie year was not great by any means...Every QB is different and to think you can simply use the same formula for evaluating QB's, or make absolute judgements after only 14 starts is ridiculous...EJ's career beginning is almost identical to Ryan Tannehill...The difference between the two is that Miami had patience, while EJ was coached and handled by morons...How is that not understandable? His former HC and OC could barely get jobs in the NFL after they left...EJ looks like a completely different QB now...Coincidence? Come on... All this is not to say that EJ will ever reach his potential...But it's WAY too early to be making that judgement...That much seems so crystal clear to me... For the record I would probably start TT if I was Rex...But I would be getting EJ ready...He's still a real young QB leaning a new system...I just think he needs to get this entire offense down under Roman...And I would be patient...I think the Bills can win with TT...But they could be really, really dangerous if EJ continues to improve and gets in there in the second half of the season... Anyway...
  18. Just going to throw this out there real quick... EJ Manuel is 25 years old, he's 6-5 and has a great arm...He is getting better because...for the first time in his career...he is getting REAL NFL coaching... QB's...Young, old, or whatever do not grow on trees in the NFL...If EJ Manuel is not on this roster in week #1 in some capacity I will be well beyond pissed off... I think TT deserves the start over EJ...I've felt all along EJ would need some extended time under Roman...But I can clearly see where EJ has the better upside if he can continue to work under this OC...We have not had that kind of talent potential at QB since...well...a long, long, time...If it means Cassel has to go...so be it...There is no way in Hades I cut or trade EJ Manuel if I'm the Bills...No freaking way...
  19. Here's the thing that bugs me about this whole deal... The practice issue...We're all here every day...We read the reports...We get live updates from TSW members constantly...I know this is generalizing it a bit...But what I took from most of camp was that all three QB's had good days, and all three had not-so-good days...If I was going by what I heard throughout camp I would probably lean towards TT being the most consistent...If only by a little bit...I do know for certain on more than just a couple occasions I heard on WGR that EJ had the best day of the three...Now...The point about EJ getting more reps with the 3rd team is valid...But it's not the only thing...And these WGR guys are seriously planting their flag on the camp reps being gospel...I just can't for the life of me figure out why they are so sure that the Bills have somehow tipped their hand with the practice reps...I think the camp reps are a part of the equation...But not the whole part....And if you're truly pulling for TT to start than have the brass you-know-whats to bring up how dumb it seems to start Cassel over either of the other two... Yep...
  20. At this point...I cannot even imagine my disappointment if it's Cassel running out there for the 1st snap with the 1's vs Indy... Ugh...
  21. I've been listening for an hour now... "The tea leaves are saying Matt Cassel" OK... To Coller's credit he does say he thinks TT should start...But just like the rest of them is giving EJ zero chance...even to be the #2...Zero chance...
  22. Not panicking about the Defense...Totally understand it's preseason...Just saying...They look awful today... Am panicking about Darby though...He's just about useless right now...No way is that kid a starter in this league...
