With the 10th pick, the Buffalo Bills select....
KOKBILLS replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm pretty much on board with this line of thinking... If the QB's don't fall they will grab one of the three Safeties...The Bills don't just have a need at Safety...it's more like an emergency...And I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the three... -
Amen...

I hear you... And like I said I liked Winston too... If you look at Winston and Watson's final two college seasons combined...their stats are REALLY similar...I mean...It's crazy how close they are...And of course there is much more to evaluation than statistics...But still...It's weird how close they are... Which brings me to the point I was actually trying to make, but did a poor job of completing...If Winston was the clear cut #1 overall pick...Which he absolutely should have been...then I can't see how the Bills could pass on Watson if he get to #10 overall...You're gambling on greatness at the most important position in the NFL with a kid who not only has the tools, but has also come up really big in really big games...I'm not saying Watson is a lock or anything of the sort because he has some big holes in his game...Despite those holes he has consistently been a + 65% completion guy (yes including plenty of bubble screens... ) since his Freshman year...Which is the single stat I pay the closest attention to when looking at potential college QB's... So...He's far from a sure thing...But if he lands in the right spot, with the right coaching and works his ass off he could be special... The Bills need special at the QB position...Heck every team needs special...I'd take Watson at #10 and get to work on him...

AP John Wawrow interview with Terry Pegula
KOKBILLS replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I look at this interview as nothing but positive... If Pagula saw what we saw on Defense and decided it's not good enough, from a guy that promised greatness on Defense, than good for Pagula! Well done! Because it was not even close to good enough...And I'm glad we have an owner who can make these tough decisions based on the obvious... Pegs was not pulled down by the continuity talk...Poor Defense is poor Defense...And if Rex Ryan cannot provide a top 10 Defense as a HC, then why have Rex Ryan as your HC? It's really that simple... -
Exactly...They're not the same...And you pointed out the differences well... I think despite his tendency to stare down receivers at times, and his struggles with zone dropping defenders, Watson will come in to the NFL as a better passer than Tyrod already is...He can make every throw...And he does... His early season film was SO iffy...I was thinking he could drop into the 2nd-3rd Round...And he's going to throw picks...He just does...But then he'll light it up when he needs to...And it seems like no moment is too big for him...For comparison purposes I really don't understand how anyone can say Jameis Winston is a better Pro prospect than Deshaun Watson...And I'm not trying to knock Winston...I liked him too...But I like Watson a little better...I really do... Watson scares me some...But the kid has elite potential...No matter how much I try to stay critical about him (and he gives you enough to criticize for sure) from a scouting standpoint I can't help but like the kid...I like enough about him that I'm totally fine with the Bills taking a chance on him at #10...Because his upside is greatness...And I don't think the Bills should pass on that possibility...

Great game... -
Well...I'm guessing at this point...But if Hooker runs as fast at Indy as he seems to on the field, it will be Hooker... I've watched a bit on him already...I can honestly say he has elite speed on the field...The ground he covers at times makes me rewind, and rewind, and rewind...It's seems unreal... VERY good possibility...But that was the key with Hooker's decision...There is almost no way one from Peppers, Hooker, and Adams does not make it to #10...So if the Bills want a Safety there...They will likely get one...
-
Agreed...And I'm not sweating Hooker because I see almost no chance he get to #10...
-
I saw Matt Miller had the Bills taking Deshaun Watson at #10 in his end of the season mock... Interesting...
-
Yep...It's coming... I forget who I heard say it last week...But they made the point that once Rex was gone the target would be squarely on Whaley...Worthy or not, I think that's pretty accurate...

One Way to Erase Past 17 Years of Misery - Wade Philips
KOKBILLS replied to Peter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think the Bills have the personnel to run a 3-4...But if they did it, then you can't do better than Wade as a DC...That is pretty much proven... -
I've been saying this forever...He'd never come to Buffalo...I don't think he'll ever go to another team in the AFC East...I kinda doubt he would even stay in the AFC... I honestly think he may just wait out Belichick and take over there when it's time...

And with that....EJ rides off into the sunset
KOKBILLS replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really felt bad for EJ today...He just simply does not have it...And it looked to me like that realization hit him while he was sitting there on the bench after missing the throw to Clay... We all know he's a stand up guy...Quality person...And all that...It's too bad...But an NFL Starting QB he is not... -
Everything I'm reading says that Peppers and Adams are likely coming out...If Hooker comes out I'm almost thinking we can pencil Adams, Peppers, or Hooker in at #10 and save ourselves a lot of time and discussion...It's easy to assume one of the three will be there at #10...If Hooker does not come out I think there is still a great chance one from Peppers and Adams will be there... I've already watched enough of all three to say that I'm comfortable with any of them at #10...They all bring different things to the table...I think Hooker will end up being the first of the three picked assuming he comes out (and he should...as a Safety I doubt his stock could get higher with another year in school)...But honestly I don't see how you go wrong with any of them...It's a good year to have a need at S if you're willing to take one high...

Good grief that was obvious was it not? -
Well...I'm not disagreeing of course...But I think a lot of turnover in the back 7 was coming regardless...I expected the possibility of 2 new starters at S, and we all know Gilmore is likely gone...Ragland will move in somewhere, likely to the Mike in a 4-3...P Brown will move to the Sam...And like I've been saying here for a bit they are going to need a more athletic Will...I don't think either of the Brown's are ideal Wills (not to say you can't get by with them there, but I don't see either being sideline to sideline hunters) and Zack is a UFA anyway... So yes...There will be pretty decent turnover from this bunch...But I think it was coming regardless...Especially in the secondary...
-
He does not have anything to prove to me...Not sure how his message would translate in the NFL...But what he's done at Clemson is way beyond impressive...I've lived a few hours from Clemson for 25 years now...What he's done since he stepped in can't be ignored...That guy can flat out coach...And recruit...

Would bringing back Pettine really be a crazy idea?

Tyrod is not a 2nd year pro on a rookie contract...So I really don't see how progression even matters at this point...Unless it was HUGE positive progression...All that matters is production vs cap impact now...The Bills don't have the luxury of hoping for further progression...Taylor has to be paid now...
