  1. Well...Figures...Does it not? Just our luck...Have to say I was really encouraged with the Watkins, Woods, Harvin top 3...Now it's Woods, Hogan, and maybe Easley this weekend? Or Denarious Moore? Good grief this Franchise is so snake-bit...It would actually be funny if it was not so sad...We obviously angered the Football Gods at some point years ago...And they don't seen to be the forgiving type...
  2. I'm not saying this to be a debbie-downer...I'm really not...But I think the Playoffs are already all but impossible...Too many key injuries, and it's only Week 7... I would love to be an optimist...I really would...But I don't see it...If the Defense was playing out-of-their-minds-good at this point I could definitely hold out hope...But it's not...And I think Rex's system is just a bad fit for the personnel on the D side...I honestly don't give them any better than a 50/50 shot to beat the Jags Sunday...They are SO banged up right now on Offense it's almost laughable if it was not so depressing...And if they lose that game, I think they're done...I know that sounds ridiculous with 9 games remaining...But 3-4, and 1-3 at Home, with the stretch coming up after the Fish Home game that will see the Bills play 5 of 6 on the Road including at the Jets and Pats...The only way they have even an outside chance at a Playoff spot is to hit that stretch at 5-3...And even then it will be tough for them to come out of that stretch better than 8-6...This team, as it is currently, is not beating the Jets at NY, and definitely not beating the Pats in NE...The Redskins are tough on Defense, the Eagles are getting better, and it's never exactly easy to win at KC...Even if they do come out of that stretch at 8-6 they still have to beat the Jets at home and a Cowboys team that will have Romo and Dez back in order to get to 10-6...I just don't see it...Not the way this team is playing now... Sure the Bills can get better...I'm 100% sure they will get healthier eventually because how can it get much worse? But I just don't hold out much hope for this team, this year...I know a lot of people are optimistic about the AFC currently, and being 3-3 right now...I look at it more like they should be 2-4 if it was not for a super conservative HC in Tennessee who basically gave us the game by not being more aggressive early on when they had the Bills D on the ropes...The Bills are just not very good right now...and the surprise to me is the Defense...I don't care how good the Offenses are that have carved them up...If you build a team around a Defense and they can't stop good Offenses at Home I don't think there is much hope...I really don't... I feel like I've seen this movie before and I'm all out of optimism...
  3. Well sure...But I wonder how this is going to effect NFL rosters in the future?...I have zero problem with them landing on the side of caution...It's good all around...Just wondering if something will need to be done to expand rosters if it proves to be a significant amount of time missed...
  4. That's brand new information!!!
  5. Well...To be fair it's not like there were a lot of positives from that game to discuss...
  6. This was driving me nuts while watching yesterday...And they were constantly standing up...Especially in the 2nd half and on 3rd downs (from what I could tell anyway)...It just seemed so out-of-synch and bizarre...
  7. Well... Pretty sure Jones (OSU) and Goff (Cal) are on pace to go top 5 this year...Even if they are not necessarily top 5 prospects...They are QB's after all...and both have decent upside... Cook (MSU) should also be a 1st round pick... So why wait?... These injuries keep piling up and the tank will come like it or not...
  8. I think 99.9% of Bills fans agree with what you're trying to say...And it's been said a million and a half times here, on WGR...everywhere...Even Whaley admitted they are in QB purgatory...Maybe he could have done more...But the fact remains it's almost as effective to be blindly lucky looking for a Franchise QB (see Tom Brady) in the NFL as it is to be diligent...It's easier said than done...
  9. Well...He's had 4 NFL starts...4...A game and a half without Sammy...A game without BOTH top RB's...Behind an average O-line... He's completed 70% of his passes...9 TD's to 4 INT's...187 yards rushing with two additional TD's...Plus he's had a passing and a rushing TD called back on VERY questionable penalties...He's 6th in the league in QB rating, 11th in total QBR, and 8th in yards per attempt... Compared to what we've had here over the past...well whatever...I think he's done pretty damned good...And common sense says he'll improve simply because he's played SO little...
  10. It depends on whether or not alternate reality is being taken into consideration...
  11. Almost assuredly at this point right?
  12. Well...Not gonna happen... It is interesting how this has turned out...At least so far...Rex would have had to turn over his baby...the Defense...to Schwartz...And he would have had to leave his DC buddy behind...Honestly...As much as I wanted them to keep the status quo on Defense I knew there was no way Rex would do it...And I believed Rex...I though he could take these guys and make them even better...But I realize now I should have listened to my gut...There was absolutely no reason to blow that Defense up scheme-wise...Zero reason...But the minute Rex was hired it was inevitable...And so far it has backfired big time...
  13. I don't disagree...A Franchise QB is the key...But I do think it's MUCH easier said than done...And to that point I think Whaley has done OK based on the option (s) presented to him... The Bills were looking for a Franchise QB in the wrong Draft...Everyone knew it...They were a day late and a dollar short...And that's Buddy Nix fault...Not Whaley's...The margin of error is so paper thin... Of the current starting QB's in the league the Bills really only had a "chance" at these guys.. Draft Dalton Kaepernick Wilson *Carr *Bridgewater * - Would have required a trade up or down Trade Palmer Bradford Foles A. Smith UFA Hoyer McCown So...Obviously the big chance came in the 2nd Round of the 2011 Draft (Dalton) and most especially the 3rd round of the 2012 Draft where they could have got Wilson...Maybe they could have made a legit run at Carson Palmer when he became available...Though I doubt Palmer would have wanted to come to Buffalo...I think the argument can be made that...all things considered...the Bills are in a better position with TT if he continues to develop than any of the other trade/UFA options that have been available... So the moral of this story is...It's damn hard to find a Franchise QB nowadays...So Whaley tried to do what is easier...Build the rest of the team...What he did not plan for was the Ryan hire...And while I fully understand how difficult it is to stop good QB's in this league, it's even harder when you have a Defense that seemingly does not fully understand, or fit, the newly installed scheme...If you're not getting big 3rd down stops, especially at home, you're not going to beat most teams...That fact is only magnified when you don't have a Franchise QB... The Bills are built around a Defense that finished in the top 5 overall last year...They made the crazy assumption that Rex's scheme would actually improve that Defense...They never really considered the possibility that Rex's scheme was not a match for the current personnel, or that maybe it would take some time for the scheme to sink-in...This Defense is getting no-pressure on the QB, they are not making plays in the back field, and they are not turning the ball over...And IMHO that's why they are 3-3 instead of 5-1 right now...Well...That and the freaking penalties...
  14. The game was never in doubt if you ask me because our Defense can't get off the field and make plays at home nearly enough... It's embarrassing...
  15. Whipped at the line of scrimmage again... First down...Another great stop when we need one...
  16. They just make no plays behind the line of scrimmage anymore...None...
  17. Well... If we had a Defense that could stop anything I would say we still have a small chance...
  18. I think Schwartz rotated even more than Pettine...It was a key aspect to the team last year...Kept the best players fresh throughout the game...
  19. I don't disagree... But this one is on the Defense...They can't play worth a crap...at Home...They don't show up for big games...They suck...
  20. It's the mark of poor coaching on normal teams... It's magnified when you do it to one of the best Defenses in the league in the season after they dominated most games... Rex is SO overrated...
  21. Well...He let a pretty damn good DC walk out...or he forced him out...Because his ego would not let him believe things would be better left alone with one of the best Defenses in the NFL... This mess is 100% on Rex...This D looks nothing like the one that played so well last year...They can't even sniff the QB...And last year they were getting sacks in bunches...This Defense is not even as good as the Pettine Defense...
