  1. Big time!
  2. Well...The whole point here is it's not you or me making the decision right? Then we would be in serious trouble!!! Purely JMO...But I'd take Coughlin over Rex in a heartbeat because I think Coughlin is a better Head Football Coach...That does not mean he's going to end the streak...I would not make that prediction because there are way too many variables...I just think he's better than Rex...And I think it's fair to assume the Pegs believe the same... I just can't get over Rex's inability to right the ship on Defense...I promise if the Offense was our only problem I would be behind Rex because I genuinely like the guy...I love the way he embraced Buffalo...But when you're a self-proclaimed defensive genius, and this is the best you can do, I just can't... On a side note hope you have a Happy Holiday Season 26!!!
  3. I just get the feeling the Pegs interest in Coughlin is real and legit...And to a point I think it's logical because a Coughlin hire is obviously not a re-build move...It's a move that says ownership believes that Rex did not get the most of the talent he was given...And probably indicates they were not happy with the game plans and game day coaching, especially against the better teams they faced, since he got here... But...Whether or not they can pull it off to the satisfaction of everyone concerned is the main issue...Plus, I'm sure Coughlin will want to talk to others as well... I think the Pegs will move on this only if they are 100% convinced they can do better than Rex...I also think many of the reports have to do with folks inside OBD knowing their interest in Coughlin...But if they can't convince Coughlin to come, as much as I'm not a Rex fan, I do admit they could do worse...So I think that's why it seems like a lot of BS just flying around...There are a ton of puzzle pieces being moved around right now, and a few different potential outcomes and quite a few jobs possibly on the line...So it seems like chaos...
  4. Agreed... And if I was Whaley I would take Trubisky if I had the chance...No matter how high they are on Cardale... I have not seen enough film on Trubisky to determine if he worthy of a top 5 pick...I have seen enough to feel he's worthy of a mid 1st...I like what I see so far...
  5. Honestly...Everyone who follows the Draft and Scouting seemed to know this...Except Rex and Whaley...I do think Rex was pushing hard saying Shaq would fit that spot...Rex is the HC running this incredible Defense...So obviously he knows best... And for the record I think Shaq will be a very good 4-3 DE in the NFL... I think I watched just about every snap from Shaq's Sr year...Twice...The off the ball thing was real...It was the single biggest negative on Shaq... But I came away loving the kid...Not because I thought he was the next Bruce Smith...I loved him because he clearly showed he was disciplined in his approach to the game, and he never gives up on a play...His game is not the flashy speed rush game you get with a true edge guy...It's more of a traditional 4-3 DE who knows his responsibilities, follows them to the letter, and he'll give you some decent pass rush as a bonus...A lot of his sacks came from pure hustle and determination...But I would not sell him short as an athlete either...He's not slow...I think this may be a product of no training camp, or just a misconception...I think when you understand what the kid brings it's almost impossible not to like him... So...That's my mini Scouting report on Shaq...I think he'll be fine...
  6. 5-2 career vs Belichick...Came within a last play of the game FG in 2015 of being 6-1...
  7. I hear what you're saying... But seriously? The Browns? The biggest outlier of a open coaching situation...maybe ever? There is absolutely no comparing the cluster*** of that situation to the current Bills...It's not even close to being the same... The Bills job may not be a glamour job...I think we agree on that much...But it's a solid organization with excellent ownership...Are their problems? You bet...But I think plenty of HC candidates will see the positives outweigh the negatives by far...
  8. Well...You can break it down anyway you want...One of those 4 wins came against a NE team starting their injured 3rd string QB...If you want to over-complicate it there's any number of ways to do it... I think it's pretty simple... Teams that have a winning record so far this year, or finished with one last year...IE...The teams that end up as Playoff teams...The better teams in the NFL... But you can break it down anyway you want to make Rex look better...That's your prerogative...
  9. I'm almost a little scared at how much I love the idea of Coughlin replacing Rex...
  10. There are 32 jobs in the entire world of this nature...It is literally the most coveted position in all of professional sports from a Head Coaching/Manager standpoint...The money is crazy good...The owners in this case are top notch... Furthermore I'll go out on a limb here and say there are PLENTY of qualified candidates who will fully understand why Rex Ryan needed to go... There will be no shortage of qualified candidates who will want the Bills job...One is already on this coaching staff...There is also no shortage of candidates who will be better than Rex Ryan...IMHO folks are allowing the awkward timing and franchise history to warp their judgement...That is leading them to ignore some glaringly obvious deficiencies, and modern NFL philosophy problems, that come with a Rex Ryan led team...
  11. I'm more in line with this take... I guess things change a bit for some folks when you thump yet another crap team... Rex is 4-11 vs teams with a winning record over almost 2 full years now...Nothing has changed really on Defense...The pass D has gotten statistically better, the run D has gotten statistically worse...19th ranked D overall last year, 16th ranked D so far this year...Why does anyone think this is going to change much in 2017? I see the Rex situation like this...Defense is his baby...He's a self-proclaimed defensive guru and he has told us that ad nauseam...If the Defense played better in either one of these years the streak probably would have ended...And if a Rex Ryan lead team can't provide at least a Top 10 Defense, then why have Rex Ryan? Any number of DC's can land the Bills in the middle of the pack defensively, and maybe you get a HC that can provide better game planning, discipline, heck maybe even teach the importance of getting on and off the field properly...Lining up properly...How to run a hurry up...etc...etc... I really like Rex as a person...His personality fits Buffalo and I REALLY wish he was a better HC...But he's not...And more importantly I think there is at least some evidence that his Defense, and his defensive philosophy, has been passed by the league...
  12. Exactly...Especially the promise deal... As poor as the Bills Offense has been at times, a couple better Defensive performances would have this season looking completely different right now... Rex has been terrible against winning teams since he got here (4-11), and HIS Defense has been consistently less than good...I think there is a HUGE possibility that opposing Offenses have simply caught up to Rex's bag of tricks...The team has looked really sloppy several times in Rex's tenure...He just has not lived up to his self-made hype... I feel like folks who think it's going to be better to stay the course are going to be very disappointed this time next year when the team looks exactly like it does now...That's not to say a new HC will be any better...But it is to say that the chances Rex will do it are pretty slim at this point...
  13. I'm ALWAYS for trading down and getting more picks... However...Watson's propensity for staring down receivers, and seemingly not seeing defenders in passing lanes will kill him on arrival in the NFL... He has all the tools and solid upside...But I think he needs an absolute TON of work...I want to see him succeed though...I really think he's the textbook example of a QB that could be ruined by playing too early...
  14. His Bills takes are normally brutal...He usually ends up sounding like he knows nothing about what is really going on here...Case in point TT has a decent game vs Seattle, the Seattle players praise him, and Clayton talks like it's laughable to even consider moving on from him at QB... John...Did you watch ANY of the other games? Any?
  15. If it was up to me...and believe me we're ALL glad it's not...I would go with Cardale, a Draft pick in the 1st-3rd round, and sign a vet...If the Offensive staff is back and we're running the same system I would not even mind if EJ was the vet... If TT would come back cheaper of course I would consider it...but I think that's a pipe-dream... It's a tough decision...But at the end of the day, for me, it comes down to the cap money...And of course the fact that if you don't have a QB that is really, really, good...You have to keep trying...Too many things have to go right for the Bills to be a consistent winner with TT at QB...It's not like anyone can say... "If we can just improve the running game..." The Bills need to get better at QB...Maybe that's Cardale...Maybe that's a Draft pick...If not...Keep trying...
  16. Clayton does know how to fire up the Bills fan base!!! Am I right or am I right? Seriously though...I don't think it would be the worst thing in the world...But I doubt very, very much that Glennon would be better than Cardale...So...If we're talking about a cheaper option to compete...OK...But he's not going to be a savior...At least I doubt it very much...
  17. I'm guessing this will never, ever, ever, ever happen with Rex...He'd sooner chop a finger off then give up control of the Defense...I think hell freezing over is more likely... And if he was forced to do so it would be disastrous...More disastrous than it already is...Rex's ego could never handle it and he would cause problems for the new guy... I just really doubt this will happen...
  18. Look at Cleveland making the Bills look like the disciplined team...
  19. Love Adams...Love him for the Bills...But...I think based on the probability the Bills finish at least 8-8...he will be gone by the time they pick... I think at this extra-early point the name to watch for the Bills is Jabrill Peppers...I think he's just enough of a tweener, and moved around so much in College, it may make teams pause a bit allowing him to slide just a little...
  20. True story...I'm actually a little surprised more people fail to understand this...
  21. God I hate LaCanfora...But I have to admit these comment are fascinating to me...I don't trust him at all...But the thing is he certainly could be right about this...I can see how it's possible...Especially how outsiders and more experienced/successful NFL GM's and execs see the Bills situation...Whaley came from a great organization, but it's not like he ever made decisions there...Russ came from what? Baseball? I don't question their individual talents...But we're talking about two of the most powerful voices in this organization...And I certainly can see how someone seemingly more qualified in football team building could think they are a bit out of their element... When I look at Whaley...He has basically built his own scouting department...And our last three Drafts have been...well...OK...Just OK...The key with Whaley...IMHO...will be Cardale...If CJ turns out to be a real good NFL QB then his Draft grade overall skyrockets...if not it's...well...again...just OK...The Sammy trade, in retrospect was a poor decision...No matter how high anyone is on Sammy (and for the record I love Sammy)...IF you're trading up to that spot, which I think was a mistake regardless, Mack should have been the target...And IF you HAVE to have a WR then Evans and Beckham were better options...Whaley has done well to bring talent in through Free Agency...And the Hughes trade was really, really good...But he's obviously not great...The proof is on the field...He's just OK... Russ is a whole different story...For someone who probably has the owners ear more than any other person in the entire organization Russ can't exactly point to much success on the field...Off the field he's a master...But if he's advising the owner on big...HUGE decisions like HC...What successful examples can he possibly exhibit? He wanted to hire Marrone? Anyway...It's fascinating to me...And to be honest I think they all have to go...Every last one of them...I doubt it happens...but I think it should...
  22. Good on paper? We were having this discussion in another thread recently...No offense really...We're all on the same side here...But I swear...Only a Bills fan would take one of the rare good things this franchise has done over the past 16 years and minimize it...Incredible...The Bills actually made it hard to appreciate the nice things... Well...Paper aside...They were good on the field too...Top 5 in a slew of defensive categories including 1st in 3rd down D and sacks...They were also 3rd in points per game, passing D, and takeaways...4th in points per game, and 5th in 1st downs per game...Even their poorer rankings were decent...11th in run D, and 14th in yards per rush... So they were not the 2000 Ravens...They were not perfect...But they were damn good...Especially considering how tough it is to have a great D in this day and age of NFL Offense...And they were light years better than this garbage Rex has managed over the better part of these past 29 games... Anyway...Enjoy the good things...Even celebrate them...They are few and far between with this team...
