Landon Jackson had done absolutely nothing for us this year at the time he was injured. And the jury is out on Dwayne Carter. But he has been injured most of his career, and I think had only one real solid game at Houston last year. Neither guy looks to have big time potential. But time will tell. I hope Jackson recovers in time for next season's off season work. He played defense in the SEC. So the guy has to have some talent, right? Carter on the other hand played at Duke. And while their program certainly doesn't suck any longer. Playing defense there is nothing compared to the SEC. I agree about losing Hoecht and Oliver. That is problematic. But regardless of the injuries, not nearly enough good NFL defenders play for our defense at this point. Injuries or not. And the lack of high end talent at WR is problematic as well. However, getting Gabe Davis back yesterday is a definite plus. And Shavers showed a lot yesterday. That has to give him confidence. And the team and Josh confidence that he can make plays when his number is called. I think the offense can continue trending upward if we let Josh throw it all over the yard.
-
There is no one on defense who can consistently rush the passer. We didn’t get a sack on Baker til the end of the game. The run defense is awful. That being said if Brady will continue to open up the offense we can beat every team in the league. Josh is not a dink and dunk QB. He is best making plays, running and passing-whatever it takes. That is why he is making a ***** ton of money. He has to be the man. We have our best chance of winning playing wide open football. And getting Kincaid back. Having Gabe and maybe Hardman, and throwing to our backs, and to Shavers and Palmer, the offense is pretty dynamic. And let Josh run. He is still great at that. But the defense still needs to bump it up a couple notches. Can it really be this bad at times?

We should sign Gabe Davis to the 53
Paup 1995MVP replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly. Davis looked fresh and focused today. He is a pro. We need him on the field every week. He is only going to get better the more he plays coming off the knee injury. And how about a shout out to Shavers?! He made some real good plays today. He is everything Keon is not. Get him snaps too. As for Coleman, how did the Bills miss so badly scouting this kid both in his physical ability to play NFL receiver and his maturity level to act like an adult as a professional athlete? Thats really unacceptable in today’s day and age to miss that badly on a high pick. it’s the same w Kair Elam talent wise. You just can’t have that bad a misses on your top picks as often as the Bills have. -
Hate to say this … but the Pats are effing good

I agree that Thompson and Williams should both be starting at this point if healthy. I think they are our best LB's. Very disappointing about Bernard. He had a monster 2023 season. And I thought he was going to be a star. But it has been downhill ever since with him. He needs to be a bit heavier to withstand the rigors of an NFL season. Remember when a small LB weighed 235? And most were well into the 240's. -

If Bernard is not healthy, he should not be playing. He isn't good enough on one and a half legs. Williams is Ok, but overruns plays and can't play pass coverage. And if he so violent and physical why isn't he playing ahead of Bernard or Milano? Neither of who are worth a flip any longer. -

Dear god, do you think we are a physical defensive team? I think we may be the least physical defensive team in the league, other than having Dione Walker and Joey Bosa, who both can lay the wood, there sure ain't much physicality. Our LB's are pathetic, especially Bernard. Heck the Jets defense is way more physical than ours. Their problem is they have the worst passing QB starting in the NFL, who also probably could not even read a high school defense. He looks that confused most of the time. Sure we are physical on the O line. But that is mitigated by our weak WR group. And lack of emotion and passion throughout the roster. And pretty marginal coaching. -

Paup 1995MVP replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree, they looked good last night. But not unbeatable. Their O line is still a question mark to a degree, if you put good pressure on them and Maye. And their defense is solid but not suffocating. They are well coached. And play hard. Like any solid team. We are just going to have to raise the level of our play starting on Sunday. Otherwise, we might not even make the playoffs. The schedule is not easy. Playing TB, at Houston, at Pitt, at NE and Philly. The only softies look to be at Cleveland, Cinci, and the Jets. And we have been known to lose some of the so called easy ones under our underwhelming coaching staff. I would think we would need at least 11 wins to feel good about making the playoffs. Doable. But certainly not a guarantee, unless we get the ship righted. -

What pissed me off from last night's game besides having to watch Justin Fields play NFL QB, (Is there a worse passer of the football than this guy?) Is watching Hollins and Diggs run free all over the field making lots of catches. They (especially Diggs) made it look so easy. We could still have both of those guys in our top 4 WR's. And our offense would hopefully be so much better. A top 4 of Diggs Hollins Shakir and Palmer looks pretty solid. I know Diggs did not want to be in the McClappy culture any longer. But Beane did nothing to replace him. And that seriously should be a fireable offense. -
DT T.J. Sanders and S Damar Hamlin to Injured Reseve
Paup 1995MVP replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Rams are playing chess and we are playing jacks:( If that's the case, I wish McDermott would bring some of that intensity on Sundays. Because we sure don't come out with guns ablazing a lot of the time. -
I think he realized what most of us have sadly come to realize. That McDermott is a marginal coach. And Beane was lousy bringing in the pieces needed to be a championship team. And probably realized that Josh while an extraordinary talent, was never getting the team to the Super Bowl with the rest of the organization being so mediocre.
-
McDermott as the head coach sets the tone. And his shtick is bland and uninspiring. He is not a football savant in the mold of many great coaches such as McVay or Shanahan. Even Mike McDonald seems to be the new top kid on the block as far as having a ferocious defense. Or is he a tough guy like a Dan Campbell, Bill Cowher, or a Mike Ditka who just looks at you, and you get on board. He is basically a nothing. Just watching Hard Knocks left me thinking what player is going to be motivated by this milk toasty middle age softie. The game unraveled against Miami when on 4th and 1 on our first series after Bishop made a great interception, and the Bills crowd screaming at Hard Rock Stadium, McDermott took the safe route and punted from our own 34. He totally took the air out of the team and the very pro Bills crowd. We never regained the mojo after that weak call. And that is what you get with McDermott. (I was there sitting right where the ball was marked, and was very disappointed that we brought out the punting unit.) Josh has been with the team for 8 years now. He knows the program. I am sure he is disillusioned with what McDermott and Beane bring to the team. (If he isn't, he certainly should be.) Lets hope he can get his head on straight this week against Tampa. And then at Houston and Pittsburgh the following weeks. All three games will not be easy. And I certainly would rather be 9-3 then 6-6. Its put up or shut time at One Bills Drive.

It was certainly rocking down there on Saturday night. Like it is almost every night. But when Bills Mafia comes a calling, the vibe is off the charts.

Mecole Hardman, Come on Down! (Signed to Practice Squad)
Paup 1995MVP replied to bills742's topic in The Stadium Wall
I can’t imagine he is playing before the Pittsburgh game after Thanksgiving. The guy is a stud. But very fragile. Josh does need to play better. He seems jumpy some in the pocket. But I think his waning confidence is because he has no studs to throw to. And an offense that he is probably very bored with. He needs something to energize him. A fiery offensive minded head coach is just what the doctor is ordering. -

Paup 1995MVP replied to bills742's topic in The Stadium Wall
Palmer Hardman Davis and Shakir. Not great, but certainly better than the trash that is Moore Shavers Coleman and Samuel. But will the Bills actually think of activating Davis and Hardman before we lose our next 3 games? Look at the schedule everyone. We certainly better come w a much better effort on both sides of the ball. Otherwise, 6-6 is not out of the realm. Anyone know how bad Kincaid’s hamstring injury is? -
I was at the game. It certainly wasn’t that bad bro. The music nonsense during game stoppages is a bit much. But the sight lines are excellent. Lots of concession stands. And Dolphin fans are fine. The military stuff was great. They honored a 100 year old WW2 veteran at one point. And had a great American flag displayed on the field pregame during the national anthem. I live part time in S Fl. There is a lot of patriotism down there. And liberalism rarely rears its ugly head. And the weather is awesome. So stop your bitching.
-
I was at the game yesterday. There was noone really open up the field except on the pass to Kincaid before halftime that he dropped and injured his hamstring. And the TD pass to Hawes. And then on the ridiculous scramble by Josh when he crisscrossed the field and found Samuel at the 50 wide open. But as far as running a normal NFL passing game, where the ball needs to be out in 2-3 seconds, there is noone open in the intermediate areas. That we have the worst group of WR's in the league should get Beane fired. I would also argue that without Shaq Thompson playing we easily have a bottom 5 group of LB's as well. And maybe bottom 3. Sure the coaching isn't spectacular. But the roster is pretty bad with several units. That Jordan Poyer is starting for us, and playing almost every snap is pretty bad at this point in his career. He can not keep up with guys 10 years younger than him. Hancock and Bishop need to be our starting safety's. You need a talented roster to have a chance at Championships in any sport. Ours is not good enough sending out a WR group of Shakir Shavers Coleman Moore and Samuel. It very well could be not good enough to even make the playoffs.
-
I am all for that move KJ if we can get a starting caliber WR or LB in return. I think both McGovern and Edwards are better players than Dawkins. I think Dawkins is solid, but Bills fans overvalue certain players because they are good in the community. (See Tre White)
-
Gabe seems like he would replace Coleman more than Samuel. I think Samuel has way more skill than Coleman, if he can stay healthy, and we start throwing him the ball. As raw as Coleman looks, not sure he could start on a lot of college teams. (Although he probably could on my beloved Wolverines, as we have one of the worst WR group in America. We just love to run run run...Play some pretty nasty defense... And run run run some more.)
-
You are correct. There certainly are. McDaniel is in over his head as the head coach. And there are a lot of distractions in South Florida. I live part time in Fort Lauderdale. And my boys who are in their 20's live in Miami. A lot of fun, (if you know what I mean) that can take your focus away from what you should be prioritizing. In the high rise I live in down there, I rode up the elevator one day with this huge dude. I had a Bills T shirt on. And he made a favorable comment about Bills Mafia. I asked who he was. And it was Patrick Paul. The Dolphins Left OT. He was real friendly. Just massive. And I am over 6 feet.
-
You think the players care if the GM gets fired? I don't think many do. I think most just go about their business like any other job. And try and focus as much as possible about what they can control. Its a rivalry game. And its on the road. And Tua always gets a bunch of completions against are less than stellar secondary. But if we get a solid pass rush against him, he is done. (I would like to see Hairston locked up on Waddle all game long. Because Tre and even Benford can not stay with him.) And it will be hot on Sunday in Miami. At least mid 80's. We need to have the same mindset every week, just like we did against the Panthers and the Chiefs. Lets go Buffalo. Bills Mafia should be bringing it at the Elbo Room in Fort Lauderdale all weekend long.

Perspective Matters: The Offense Is Producing
Paup 1995MVP replied to Magox's topic in The Stadium Wall
Samuel Moore and Palmer can all catch deeper routes. And Moore and Samuel are quick enough on the flats to get YAC. You have to wonder how much say #17 has in the play calling and game plan each week. (He certainly should) And should be talking with the coaching staff about what he wants incorporated in the offense passing wise on a week to week basis. The deep cross he hit Kincaid with in the second against KC was a thing of beauty, and can be run with just about every receiver we have. -
Bills Draft History - The Price For Shaheed
Paup 1995MVP replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think you summed it up well Alpha. (You usually bring a voice of reason to the party.) That being said it falls on Joe Brady (who I am not particularly fond of as a play caller) to make our vertical passing game go. Be it any of our receivers (other than Keon-because he can not catch any ball while being covered down field) named Moore Samuel Kincaid Shavers Palmer or Knox, heck even Hawes, he needs to scheme up plays for Josh to hit relatively deep down the field. We are not going to the Super Bowl if we can not improve on that part of our offense. -
It sure would Run the Ball. A cringe just thinking about that. Remember that happening to Derrick Thomas years ago when he was in a car accident on an icy road on the way to the airport? Dam that sucks. That is nice money for a young person to be making. I would be happy if my three young adult kids were making that combined. It would sure save me a lot of cash and headache:) That is good money for a young person. I sure hope he can come back and play. The kid had talent. But that Stenosis in the Cervical Spine (narrowing of the spinal canal is probably congenital, and was likely aggravated from the injury in practice) can be a serious thing. Remember Derrick Burroughs having to retire with something like that in the late 80's? He was a real good CB also.

Oh boy, my son text me a while ago and said he would give up 2 first round picks. I said no way. And the biggest reason is because I am not sure the coaching staff we have knows how to incorporate a high level WR into the offense. That being said I would give up next years 1st for Garrett Wilson. I just looked at this years stats for Wilson and they are a little above pedestrian. But he has Justin Fields throwing him the ball. So there you go KJ. Give the Jets our first next year, and lets go. I think Beane is pretty bad with his draft picks. And I would not be opposed to trading most if not all of our picks for next year to bring in help at WR, DL and LB or DB to give us a great chance to win the bowl.

Snap counts for the Bills in Chiefs game
Paup 1995MVP replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree with most of your posts. But you seem off on Kincaid and his ability. The guy is our best receiving weapon and should be getting 12+ targets per game. He is a talented player. My god the Cowboys throw all game to Jake Ferguson, and he is nowhere near the game changer that Kincaid is. Running was fine against the Chiefs at home mid season. But to get to the Super Bowl we are going to need to pass the ball down the field. We will be too easy to defend come the playoffs if we have no downfield passing game.
