  1. How about the guys getting paid a ton kick in 10k and the guys just hanging onto a roster spot who will be lucky to see a check after this year keep their 5k and donate something they can afford? People think that every pro athlete is a millionaire which isn't the case. While they do make good money, alot of these guys don't have enough job security to be throwing out 5k just because some millionaire said it was their obligation.
  2. Those examples suck. Williams was on the wrong side of 30 and only played 1/2 the D snaps, Ruben wasn't worth the cash and neither was Jennings. Gash was a FB, it wasn't like he was going to break the bank, I don't think it was a matter of not wanting to pay him, but that TD thought he couldn't be productive for much longer. Cowart wasn't the same after his injury. Paying Jennings what SF paid him would have been idiotic. I'll give you Winfield. Just look at what these players did AFTER they left Buffalo, only Winfield has done a damn thing worth mentioning. That's a pretty good track record. But for every Winfield there's a Takeo who got paid to come here, TD managed to get Fletcher in here as well...and Vincent...and Milloy. In fact, our D has been primarily built with Free Agents. So much for asking "why would anybody ever come to the Bills?" TD has made plenty of mistakes in his time here, but his decisions on who to pick up in FA and who to keep have been pretty good choices and one of the last places one should look to question him.
  3. Yeah, but like it or not JP is our guy. He's got to start at some point so we can see what he's got. Pulling the plug on him because of a few bad pre-season games just isn't an option. I like winning as much as anybody, but at some point you have to look at the long term goals of the organization. A team can only get so far with a guy like Holcomb at the helm.
  4. Sadly, my first thought here is, "a minor injury might just scare Nate enough for him to sign a long term deal before the season starts..."
  5. I agree, we need to take our lumps. If he sat this year we'd just have to take our lumps next year. Let's just swallow our medicine and hope in the end it works out in the end.
  6. They can hide JP's deficiancies just as easily as they can hide Holcomb's, behind a solid running game and a D that allows less than 17 points a game. If you think Holcomb would light the world on fire you're mistaken. The guy is a career backup and has never looked good for any stretch of time. He was BARELY better than Couch and Couch was horrible.
  7. If you're comparing him to what Peyton Manning looks like, then never. But if you're looking at him as a young QB who's never started a regular season game I'd say he looked pretty good in both the first two pre-season games. He made mistakes, but he looked pretty good for the most part. I'm thinking your expectactions of the guy are too high.
  8. But, but, but, I read that the smart money is on the Bills to win the division... JP is going to struggle, there's no doubt about it. Even with his struggles, by the second half of this year we'll be a better team than we were last year. Though it might be too late at that point.
  9. I hope our offensive philosophy isn't to run on the first two downs and the to throw on 3rd. That is a recipe for a losing season and a worn down RB. Hell, that's worse than Gilbride calling the plays. The offense needs ballance, without it the running game won't be effective either. I'd also like to see JP throw the ball down field a bit more. Before that last drive I think he was averaging less than 5 yards per attempt, which is just pathetic.
  10. If you're not bright enough to figure it out I'm not going to help you.
  11. Yep, that's right. I'd rather a green QB make these mistakes than a vet.
  12. The guy has never started a regular season game. It's not too "late" to look bad, he'll look bad plenty in the next year, its part of the growing process. Hopefully in a few years we'll have a solid NFL caliber QB leading this team, but its not going to be an overnight process.
  13. I keep seeing people bring up the fact that many didn't evacuate. How many of you live in large cities? I've lived in NYC for 9 years now and until just recently my wife and I never owned a car while here. I'm sure the same goes for many city dwellers in the country. If a storm like that hit NYC most of the people in the city wouldn't be able to get out because they don't own vehicles. The fact is that there just isn't a reason to own a car in a major metropolitan area. How exactly were all these people supposed to leave if they didn't have the means? I'm not talking about the people who stayed behind to "protect" their property; I'm talking about the masses of people that didn't have the ability to get out of the city. And I'm sure the busses they offered would have done the job considering they can't get the enough busses to get people out of there now, and they've had twice as long to do so.
  14. On the contrary, he's the most football knowledgeable writer that I've seen in the national media. Not liking the way somebody predicts things will go does not equate to the guy being a "blowhard". The guy watches more tape than anybody out there who is not named Jaws or employed by a NFL team. No matter how somebody's list looks there are going to be people that think its f'in dumb. I actually like his list, at least its something different. He predicts some surprises and doesn't think the same old teams will end up in the SB. Do I agree with it all? Nope, but I can disagree with people without thinking they’re idiots.
  15. The only one who appears to be pissed is you...
  16. According to this article there's a 200 foot break in one of the levees http://www.cnn.com/2005/WEATHER/08/30/katr...eans/index.html
  17. Every year the national press gives the Bills no respect and the fans on this board howl in anger, calling them "idiots" and the like. Yet, every year the Bills miss the playoffs and somebody else wins the division (usually the Pats). Eventually this will change, but until the Bills show otherwise (and the Pats show they're not the best in the NFL, much less the division) the smart move is to go with the Pats. I'm a Bills fan and I think the Pats the division this year. JP is going to get owned by that Belichick D and we're not winning the division without at least a split with the Pats.
  18. If Price isn't good enough to crack their starting lineup why would they be worried about his impact for another team?
  19. It never ceases to amaze me how many people !@#$ up the contraction "you're" when calling somebody an idiot.
  20. To make more money?
  21. Not really, in a literal since it does, but you have to really read what they're saying, "anybody but Drew" is what it comes down to. And I don't blame them, Drew was horrid.
  22. Actually, what most have people said isn't, "JP is better than DB", what they've said is, "He can't be any worse." There's a big difference.
  23. I actually had Moss on the list then took him off, he's close. One or two more average years for Moss and he's a lock. Same for Manning. Larry Allen is a lock, don't see how I forgot him Can also add: Tim Brown Michael Strahan Gary Anderson On second thought I'm not sure Vinitari would make it right now. He has the SB rings but I'm not sure he has the longevity, which tends to be important for kickers.
  24. Off the top of my head: Ray Lewis Marshal Faulk Marvin Harrison Curtis Martin Tom Brady Jerome Bettis (I wouldn't vote for him, but he prob has the stats to get in) Orlando Pace Jonathan Ogden Terrell Owens Adam Vinitari Deon Sanders
  25. Well, I like milk, but not whole milk. Just tasting the stuff my 14 month old drinks makes me cringe. It's like drinking cream when you're used to 1%.
