You have to run the scout team, which means lots of film study and preperation. There is work involved other than on Sundays.

National & out of town writers usually know
MDH replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed, Possey does a fine job. He's not a stand out player, but he plugs away and doesn't make many mistakes. In fact, I'd say Fletcher makes more mistakes than Posey, granted, he makes of hell of a lot more plays too. -
For the life of me I can't fathom why there's so much hatred/dislike for Henry on this board. The guy put everything he had on the field for the Bills, and that's all you can ever ask of a player. Did he has deficiencies? Sure he did, all players do. Henry was absolutely right: It was a slap in the face to draft WM (though this doesn't mean that TD shouldn't have drafted WM, to the contrary). Henry was just coming off a pro-bowl season. To those who argue he should have "stayed and fought" for a starting spot, a guy who's last full season as a pro-bowl player doesn't have to prove he's a quality back, he's already done so. No player in the league would want to come to camp to "compete" against someone that he knows is going to beat him out no matter what he does. WM is the better back, we all know this. But because there's a better back on this team doesn't mean the guy has to sit on the bench an entire year in the prime of his career. Henry knew he'd get way more money in a trade than he would sitting out a year in addition to the quality playing time all players desire. Anyway, I'll do the opposite of what the other posters in this thread have done. I'll genuinely thank Henry for his time here and the effort he put out while on the field and wish him luck in Tennessee. The funny thing is, I was never a huge TH fan, I just don’t get the automatic hatred fans have for players once they no longer play (or want to play) for their team.

The playoffs, in any sport, are only an "awesome thing to behold" because you're watching the very best pair off for weeks in a row. Allow everybody into the dance and the quality of the game isn't any better than the regular season.

Except not at all. My wife got a call late last year and ended up moving to a new company with a 40% raise in base pay and 60% more cash from the bonus. There are many many companies out there that use headhunters to bring in employs. Blowing them all off is a bad move. Do a little research on the company the headhunter works for and make sure they're legit. Most likely the way they got your name is from a former client that worked with you that thought you might be interested in a move.

No, that would be LEAN POCKETS!!

Someone should tell him that Henry wasn't a 1st round draft pick...

You know, normally I'd agree with you that "exciting" doesn't win games, but the Falcons record with Vick in the lineup is a whole lot better than the Falcons record without him in the lineup. He's one of the few guys that can win games with his feet....he'll just never win the big games unless he learns to be a more efficient passer (which I'm not sure he can do as inaccurate as he is).

Pat Williams takes a shot at TD + company

Pat knew that by choosing the Vikes that he'll have a great shot at going to the Super Bowl this year....all he's got to do is buy some tickets from Tice. -
Bills fan experiences at away games
MDH replied to RuntheDamnBall's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been to many Bills/Jets games, a Bills/Falcons game and a Bills/Patriots game and have never had any problems whatsoever at any of the stadiums. I'm convinced that the people who do have problems at away games are either poor winners, poor losers or that they just got unlucky and sat next to some drunk idiot. The biggest problem I've ever had at a game was a RWS...opening day a few years back when the Bills crushed the Pats some drunk idiot that could barely stand up started saying random rude stuff to the people in the section...for no reason whatsoever. His friends tried to keep him in check, but the more they asked him to STFU the more belligerent he became. In fact, I've been to 5 games at Rich Stadium/RWS and I've never seen so much fighting, drunken or rude behavior at any of the away venues. I have a 1 year old boy and, sadly enough, once he's old enough to go to some games I'll feel safer taking him to an away Jets/Bills game than I would taking him to Buffalo. -
Yeah, though I'm not sure they nailed his evaluation rating. A guy that can't block, drops lots of passes and can't stay healthy isn't a "red chip plus" in my book.

You know, most players entering the final year of their contract generally try to get an extension before the current contract expires...I wouldn't tag this one on Rosenhaus.

And what's the purpose of telling the public that the threat levels have changed? The levels changing certainly doesn't effect how people react to their environment in their every day lives, its not like the American public has been trained on what they should do depending on the threat level. So again I ask, what's the point? The point is two fold. First, it is simply a pass the buck system so if something does happen they can say, "well, we warned you!" Secondly, it’s a marketing campaign that sells fear and safety to the public all at the same time. Fear that there are outside forces constantly trying to harm Bob Smith in Idaho and safety that we're lucky that these swell individuals in Washington are on top of it enough to know when an imminent danger is on the horizon. You sell fear to the public and they'll okay any changes to government that get passed. There's no accountability for the system, the public has no real way of knowing if a threat actually exists or if our government really did anything to prevent it. If that's the case, tell me again the point of announcing to the public that the "threat level" has changed? You say its easy to tear down and not to give suggestions, its just as easy to simply agree with anything the government gives us. My suggestion is to get rid of this dumb @ss system. Bottom line, this system is all about marketing and protecting the behinds of those in Washington. Telling the public of a color change doesn't add to the safety of said public in any way, shape or form.

Its interesting that 10 of his overrated players play the safety position....and 6 of his underrated. That's 1/4 of the players listed. Someone appears to be hung up on Safties.

He could end up staying if he has a solid year and Parrish looks to be a flop. I don't think its possible for him to have a "great" year being, at best, #3 on the depth chart in a run oriented offense.

There is no such thing as a "healthy" Charles Rogers.

Yes, creating a fictitious 15-year old sister is a terrible thing to do. I should be ashamed of myself. Only people looking to take offense at something would take offense at that. -

I know, what are people thinking looting at rushing stats for a RB. I agree with you to a point, the guy is not a complete player, but your outright hatred is irrational. The guy is a solid RB, not great, but solid. The guy must have slept with your 15 year old sister or something, because that's the only thing that makes your opinion of him make any sense. -

I think everybody knows JP will struggle. What I think many of these pundits are missing is that Bledsoe sucked last year about as badly as a QB can suck. The Bills D, special teams, and running game (say what you will about the Oline's pass protection, they run block well) will take pressure off JP. Will JP be as bad as Bledsoe? I'd say probably yes (I can live with those mistakes with a young QB, I can't with a 10 year vet making them). His struggles will most likely put the team around the .500 mark for the season. I don't foresee the special teams having another year like they had last year, 5 returns for TDs is asking an awful lot. These predictions from the "experts" for 4-5 wins all because of JP's growing pains are pretty outlandish Imo, particularly when these same guys predict a team like the Ravens to compete for a playoff spot when their situation is similar to ours. There isn’t a worse starting QB in the league than Boller. -
I'm sorry, that signing bonus does not make the contract "guaranteed", the bonus is normally a pretty small fraction of the overall value of the contract (particularly for the non-superstar players). The majority of the players that hold out are draft picks playing under their first contract and most of these guys get jack **** for signing bonuses. The nature of football is such that your career can be over and done in a single moment, these guys should be doing whatever they can to make sure their futures are secure and if they're way outplaying their current contract the smart move is to try to renegotiate. If the team you're playing for refuses to do so, the best move for a player is to hold out. Claiming that the $300 k these draft picks get in signing bonus is a "guaranteed" part of their contract when a player is playing like a $5 million a year player is ridiculous. Why should the player be paid according to what people “thought” he'd do and not what he's actually doing? I see this complaint over and over again going the opposite way, when the player gets a huge contract before he does a thing, but when a 2nd rounder plays like a pro bowler and wants more money the fans claim he's "greedy." That being said, there are certainly instances when a player is just out and out wrong for holding out (the TO holdout comes to mind) but to just take the side of management every time against a player is ridiculous imo.
-
Exactly. If the owners are not bound to the contract there is no reason the players should be either. If a player doesn't play up to a contract they get cut, yet if they outplay a contract they're simply supposed to play out the contract? That makes no sense. You can't have it both ways, give the players guaranteed contracts and I'd agree that holding out is wrong, otherwise they have every right to do what they can to get what they're worth.

Sean Salisbury likes the bills and the still sour
MDH replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With that analysis I'm wondering how the hell you figure the Bills will win 7-8. You had nothing good to say about them, so why don't you see them going 4-12? Some of your thoughts aren't bad, but the fact that you try to degrade every aspect of the Bills team shows me that you're not even trying to be fair.
