Slightly, but he didn't even fight for the ball.
-
If he gets out of the game healthy then it all worked out. If he gets hurt further the question becomes, "why was he #2 when he wasn't healthy?" Why do I keep starting Cobb in FF given how the GB offense has played the past month?

I think a key part of moving on is not throwing everything Watkins related into this thread. As long as this thread goes there's a chance someone comes back to "little jobs" and the discussion begins again. I also tire of these giant pot luck threads which go on forever and have 30 different talking points, but I assure you, that has nothing to do with my desire to see this thread fade into oblivion...

Yep, and the other side if this is that Karlos getting carries helps keep Shady fresh. They compliment each other perfectly. Its a nice dynamic and one I hope they keep for a few more years.

EJ Inactive vs. Jets; Will Remain 2nd QB per Rex
MDH replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the problem people have, they dont read or cant comprehend what they have read. Who absolved anybody of anything? Im nit going to repeat myself, try reading what I wrote again. And I didnt say their mistakes were on par with EJ's. But they contributed to the loss. I know it doesnt play into the narrative that we must have one person to blame for something, but its the way it works in a team game. Ive said in other threads that EJ shoulders the most blame in that game, but shouldering the most blame and "being responsible for the loss" arent the same things. -

Yep, and then they allowed the game winning TD. Putting up points doesn't absolve you from mistakes, just ask EJ. -
How you express yourself got a long way in determining how the masses will interpret it. So what he said was a big part of the issue, whether that's what he meant or not.

EJ Inactive vs. Jets; Will Remain 2nd QB per Rex

I keep hearing this and it's not really true. Yeah, he was horrible in the 2nd quarter and if he didn't have those blunders the Bills likely would have won. But the team did have a lead late in the game and couldn't maintain it. That is not on EJ. The D failed at the end. That loss is on a lot of guys, not just EJ. Hell, on EJ's fumble the OL shares some blame. It's a cliche, but it's a team game and you can't put any loss on a single guy. It just doesn't work that way. Of course, pointing this out will get someone labeled an "EJ apologist" because that's the depth of thought put into most of these discussions. How is he baggage? The only ones who can't seem to get over it are the fans on this board. EJ is a good kid, doesn't cause distractions and works hard. There is no benefit of cutting him if you're not positive you can improve the position. Perhaps they can, but you don't cut him because he's "baggage." I saw a stat the other day that stated back up QBs are 5-18 this season. Two of those 5 wins are from Hasselbeck. That means other than him backup QBs are 3-18. It's not so easy finding a backup who can win games for you. If your starting QB goes down you're likely in trouble. -
Yeah, the Bills have a back averaging 4.7ypc and another averaging over 6ypc and the OL isn't getting much attention at all. They're doing a hell of a job for the most part.

Its the same thing over and over again. After a bad performane or two people are ready to ride players out of town and after a good performace or two they treat it as total validation of said player. Its a 16 game season, why use the jump to conclusion mat when you can just let it play out before making grand statements? A two game stretch doesnt make it a great trade and doesnt mean Shady wont hit the wall in the next season or two. And for the record I liked the Shady trade as I felt the D would get along fine without an LB with two knee surgeries and Shady is a talent. But my desire to be right doesnt make me force conclsions on a situation when its far too early.

Of course he gets high, would any sober person get that haircut? And I didn't see the interview but based on that clip he doesn't look high, just looks like he's goofing off.

Yeah, it was fine, not sure what they were up in arms about either. -

Curious how they think the 5-4 Jets have the same chance at making the playoffs as the 3-5 Chiefs. -
Offensive play calling last night
MDH replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Or this. I thought this several times last night as well. With all that pressure a few well timed screens would have forced the Jets to back off a little. Yeah, they came out in the 2nd half determined to get the ball in Clay's hands and then kinda forgot about him. He presented the biggest matchup problem for the Jets and they didn't utilize him enough. -
Offensive play calling last night
MDH replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Overall I thought the play calling was pretty good. They stuck with the run and attacked the edges of the Jets' D instead of banging their heads against the wall vs. the middle. I had two issues though. The above is one. They need to stop with so many designed runs for him. Let him make plays with his feet from the pocket when things break down but purposely putting him in a position to take so much punishment is something they should avoid. The second thing is they had too many plays where TT didn't have many/any short options. They did this knowing that the Jets blitz more than any team in the league. TT would end up holding the ball waiting for the play to develop then take the sack or try to make a play with his feet. He still needs to put the ball up and give his guys a chance at making the play vs. man coverage but it would be nice if they have him a hot route short where he could dump it off. -
We have seen this story of Fitz play out before...
MDH replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As much as I'd like to say the D did it all themselves last night Fitz helped quite a bit with his erratic throws. He missed anything over 10 yards consistently and often times didn't even give his target a chance at making a play. He did make plays down the stretch to get them back in the game. That 4th down dime he threw to Decker was spectacular. But he threw a duck with the game on the line at the end. Even if the guy doesn't get tangled up with Decker coming off the LoS Fitz didn't throw the ball far enough outside for him to have a good shot at it. -
The OL did a good job overall. There was a patch in the third quarter where they struggled but overall they opened gaps in the run game and protected TT. TT has to learn to get the ball out of his hands when the D blitzes. It's not on the OL when they send more than 5 guys, it's on the QB and WRs.
-
This was my issue with him early in the game. When the D sends 6 and 7 they are going to get to the QB. The OL can't protect him from that for long. He has to make a quick read and get rid of the ball to his hot read. Instead he held the ball too long or looked to run. It's cause for concern moving on but overall his performance wasn't bad as he did protect the ball.

Offensive disorganization in 2nd half

Helps the Bills get prepped for the Pats. -
He gets separation a lot yet doesn't get the ball thrown his way nearly enough. Could have/should have had a big play TD to start the game but Tyrod just didn't put it in the right spot. Throw it to the middle of the field and Sammy runs under it and scores.
-
He had a few that drifted right. Even the very last one did a little.
-
He had some puffy red eyes there.
-
Don't turn the ball over and put up 20+ points and it will generally be enough.
