  1. There aren't. Each military branch is relaxing standards on a regular basis to "cope" with the "quality" of possible recruits. Our future is not bright.
  2. Right? What natural center can't play wing? While Cozen is probably "right now" the 3rd best player in this draft, it's up to the organization to help him reach his full potential. To date, that has not been something we've been very good at. Hopefully this kid's work ethic sets an example on a team that desperately needs that kind of leadership.
  3. There are exactly 2 players in this draft that are guaranteed NHL contributors this season. The Sabres didn't have a shot at either one of them. The NHL draft isn't the NFL draft. These are kids and most first rounders are at least 2-3 years away from even playing in the league, much less being high end contributors. Lower round draft picks are normally even further away. Botterill needs to make strides in free agency and via trades to improve the on-ice product in the short term. The draft is about the future and isn't going to change when you're picking 18 year olds. They're simply not physically or mentally ready for the NHL.
  4. Like we don't ALL know that. At least Whitner was an NFL player. Anyone who watched EJ Manuel in college KNEW he wasn't going to be an elite NFL QB and his ceiling was basically "JAG". You don't spend a top half of the first round pick on JAG players.
  5. There's just no way to fit another big contract under the current cap with Dahlin looming in 2 years. You're already paying Jack and Skinner $19m. Dahlin will likely by in the $10m range of he develops as expected. The current cap is $75M.
  6. The trade is only great for the Rangers if they sign him to a deal. He's a one year rental who basically just got moved so the Rangers have the exclusive right to negotiate with him AND offer him an additional year on his contract. If they can't sign him, they just dumped a first round pick for almost zero.
  7. Yeah, that's a perfect way to describe the guy who just won the Conn Smythe Trophy and played the last 2 rounds with a cracked rib. Soft quitter. Any Sabres' fan who complains about ROR's comments is a hypocrite. We're all sick of the damn losing.
  8. You mean because the Sabres front office has shown a level of competence on team building? Forgive me for laughing at the very thought.
  9. If a woman wants to change you...she's not for you. It's a tough lesson to learn but it's very important. Same thing goes the opposite direction.
  10. He's a competitor. Sometimes emotion overcomes people. The fact that he cares is one of the reasons he's a winner.
  11. Reputable breeders are critically important. I'm a "Doberman guy" and have been since I've been an adult. I have gotten 6 of my 8 from Rescues - most dogs that "couldn't" be socialized. Of them, only one was beyond my ability to "fix." I'm under NO illusion that there aren't "bad" dogs or dogs that society is better off without. Simply put, it's VERY often on the owner but not always. That being said, there's little reason to ban a specific breed - that's a slippery slope I'm not willing to go down. I wouldn't mind seeing very high insurance requirements for pit bull owners because that alone would probably be enough of a deterrent to put most of that genie back in the bottle. Reputable American Staffordshire terrier breeders would NEVER knowingly sell one of their animals to a bad person/family. In my experience, they love those dogs and only want the best for them. We finally went and got a full purebred Doberman from a great breeder and she is amazing. I struggled with that decision because of how many Dobermans are in foster homes or kennels but I'm starting to think that the rescue thing is almost as big a contributor to the overpopulation problem as it is a solution. Far too many people get into the working breeds for the wrong reasons and then find out that the dogs require as much work as their kids do, at least for a couple of years.
  12. I don't know how the Sabres go after any high dollar free agent with Dahlin's big deal looming just a couple of years from now.
  13. That's because most "fans" are far too quick to glean onto the smallest infractions and blow them out of proportion. O'Reilly was honest about the losing getting to him and any Sabres' fan who ripped him for it is a goddamn hypocrite. He's a smart player who works his ass off and I'm the least surprised person in the world that he's kicking ass in the playoffs.
  14. I would love to have a video of my reaction to the EJ Manuel pick. I pretty much lost my mind just like the people in this video.
  15. Agreed. It's something I thought a lot about when I was younger and trying to play better. Those guys were both Gods to me.
  16. I actually liked Salvation but you're right, it could have completely transformed the franchise. The television show was promising as well but Fox couldn't market it for *****.
  17. I haven't read through this whole thread but I would love to see where Randy Rhoads took his talent. He was just an incredible guitar player.
  18. They got rid of the Slug and kept the team in Buffalo. I'm not arguing with you about royal blue (I wholeheartedly agree).
