EJ addressed the offense in Saturday meeting
Niagara Bill replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
physical talent aside the QB must lead and be in control of all O players, and he appears now to be taking that step. Once again many will laugh at this comment but he did remove that face shield which makes it easier to lead and look others in the eye while commanding -
there are a few ambiguities that concern me about the O 1) we have tried to build a road grader O line, but our number 1 RB is not a straight head runner (line suits beast mode) 2) we have tried to build a road grader line and our QB has the ability to run 3) we have a QB that can run and we do not want I to use that ability 4) we have a road grader line that should be able to punish the D line and then run a hurry up offense to tire our huge players 5) we have a young QB who is struggling with reads and changing plays at the line but we want to run more plays, quicker than most teams 6) we want to run more plays but we have a young inexperienced O coordinator that does not know the pro game as well is the D coordinators on the other team 7) we have a very good D but we want to tire them out with quick 3 and outs by our Offense how is it possible to succeed?????

No one should get a free pass

Amen....we have no NFL knowledge and experience in the QBs or the O coordinator. Marrone seems to think freshmen are OK...this is not college. a vet would help for sure -
If I could change 1 thing about E J
Niagara Bill replied to Niagara Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
wow and wow and wow...... so many Neanderthals peripheral vision obstruction can hurt his reads and slow down reaction times for a QB. It happens to be a trait of successful QBs to have open vision. And do not suggest that Newton is successful compared to Manning, Wilson, Roethlesberger, Favre, Rodgers, JK etc. I believe it demonstrates a personality that will hold him back from being elite. He has an arm, good feet and intelligence but lack of true leadership and vision of the field can create another Trent Edwards. -

yes, it tells me that he has restricted vision and he has not grasped the concept of leadership, a most important aspect of being the QB, seriously Caveman -
When Trent was here 1 very noticeable trait he had was demanding a coat on his shoulders for every time out. Before talking to the coach, or showing leadership he was focused on himself not the game. I hated this action. A real leader would not even think of the coat. JK showed toughness Trent showed he was a wimp. EJ now wears a closed front helmet with visor. The spacing in the eye area is small with extra bars and then a visor added. His vision is restricted and most important in the huddle eye contact with his teammates is interfered with. Real winning QBs like Manning (2), Brady, Russell Wilson, Favre, Cutler, Roethlisberger want to see, be seen by teammates, and show emotion and strength in the huddle. Can you imagine JK chewing out House Ballard hiding behind a shield, Many QBs used to unstrap the helmet in the huddle to look at teammates in the eyes and then snap it at the line. EJ hides. RBs and Lineman can hide, QBs have to lead. This is an observation but in my thoughts one that is troubling. (ps, changing the helmet does not make him a leader but using it is a symbol of isolation rather than strength of leadership.)

Would a line up of Mike Williams, Sammy, Woods, Goodwin and Manual or Williams, Stevie, Woods, Goodwin and Bortles ( or another one of the early drafted QB's ) feel better right now. Somehow, reading about Manuel in OTA's is not making me feel good about the decision we made. When he says he Is trying to remain even keeled and not too emotional he sounds like Rob Johnson or Losman not a leader. Not being able to make a throw in practice sounds all too familiar.

CJ Spillers increased role in offense?
Niagara Bill replied to Original Byrd Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
we have had small O lines and then large O lines, back again and again. small and quick is usually better for spread offence since the guards and tackles can get out and block. We are now in our big bruisers phase again, that means road graders, straight ahead blocking and in my view not pro CJ for multiple positions for him. He will not likely see the old Chan style of trying to get him the ball in many positions, but, for getting him into the secondary and open field may be best inside the tackles. I am concerned he cannot stop jumping outside as he likes with this new line. -
Look he like Stevie is another buffalo 'feel good story', but even with him and Stevie this team can't put together a winning season. Both guys need to be upgraded position wise and thanked for their time here. Just the harsh reality of the NFL, feel good stories and top character guys or winning, you pick. Really Kelly83....I never suggested it was a feel good story I only suggested that his age was extended because of his late start and few carries early in his career. you are so intent on stating your thought not replying to actual posts

Who believes in Manuel?
Niagara Bill replied to Chi-town Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While EJ may one day be able to be a starting QB, he obviously is missing the "it" factor. He does not have the ability to manage a game, think through the Defense, and attack it. I believe that is something you can learn but never be totally successful because it is not natural and under fire he will lose that ability. For at reason I will go against he crowd and predict the Bills will draft a QB in round 1 -
and you find it necessary to tell the world about fantasy...do you even know what reality is...have you actually ever been to a live game. I suppose you take your family to the mall on your Need for Speed game...so exciting

Jim Kelly treated for cancer recurrence
Niagara Bill replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know of no one else that is more able to stand up to this disease than Jim. As a member of the 12th man I wish I could do more than pray for Jim and Jill and the family. I wish I could stand up and swing my jacket around as Jim did when he was watching the Bills play Miami and snow came steaming across the stadium from the lake. It was a sure sign the Bills would win that day and all 73,000 knew it. I wish I could play tackle and block for him as Wolford and Ballard did. I wish I could break off my pass route and come back to the ball like Reed and Lofton to help the QB Jim. But I cannot so PRAY it shall be for Jim, Jill, the whole family, and for all the true Bills fans, ( like Debbie, and Nikki, and Bob, and Phil, and Dom and Mark and Courtney and Wally and Grace) who today have a big piece of their heart in pain. -
It is sick how part time fans can whine about the teams planning for FA signings. While this guy is not Byrd's replacement, if they do not have a secondary plan, Now that would be worth complaining about

Happy Birthday to Jim Kelly and Hunter Kelly
Niagara Bill replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
both made great contributions to the community and will be remembered for a long time. -
I have a tendency to agree that Cheerleaders are not necessary, except that the game is so slow due to TV commercials that you need to have something to look at for the 30 minutes per game of nothing. Besides what good would that awful music they play in each stadium. They save money on that by only paying one set of royalties. If the are going to change anything stop that stupid gong noise on 3rd down

Schwartz D will be "Attacking" D
Niagara Bill replied to Original Byrd Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ridiculous that some one in this tread developed this into racial issue. To clarify "thugs" I meant players who spend more time with their own agenda, trying to hurt players opposite to them, take penalties for being over aggressive and hurt the team, put their out of control emotions ahead of their teammates and end up being losers when playing as a unit would have put them in position to WIN, the real objective Did the Lions not underperform in part for this reason -
Schwartz D will be "Attacking" D
Niagara Bill replied to Original Byrd Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My biggest concern is the lack of control of his players and emotions. His teams always have too many penalties and are either too high or too low. Thugs are the way of life, not smart. Even Schwartz demonstrated he was often out of control. He hurt his team by not thinking at times. While I hate unemotional coaches like Jauron a good coach needs to keep his wits about himself. -
Geno refused to get off his cell phone , held up the plane and the crew asked him to leave so they could take off. Geno didn't have his wrist band instructions on how to turn off the phone. The coaches caused the problem. Then he played the race card (true). That is the only excuse he cannot use in the NFL
