  1. News for you pal: after a couple more performances like this, if McBeane say it will take until 2019-20 for them to play winning football, I would say that they better hire bodyguards.
  2. They will have to hit on EVERY draft choice to fill the holes they have created on this team by trading away good players or switching schemes so the players we have don't fit anymore.
  3. . . . because this team has been depleted of talent. I am not impressed with what they have done, and I don't see how they are going to fix all the problems they have generated in a single draft, not matter how many picks they have.
  4. As far as their playoff chances go, the seven AFC games coming up after the NO game are more important. If I had to choose whether I prefer them winning the NO game vs. the San Diego game, beating the Chargers helps them much more even if the Bills' overall record comes out the same. Of course the solution to this is to win both games.
  5. On the contrary, that 2004 team was the hottest team in the league down the stretch. They lost their first four games of the season and then went 9-2 through their next 11, winning games by huge margins (their previous six games going into the Steelers game the Bills won 37-17, 38-9, 42-32, 37-7, 33-17, and 41-7). Then they crapped out in that final Steelers game, ended up 9-7, and missed the playoffs. That team would have wiped out the current Bills team.
  6. I just watched the game on game replay, and though they made numerous errors and tackled badly and the play calling was often suspect and in general they looked bad especially in the second half . . . I thought Tyrod played a good game, especially considering the pressure he was under Zay Jones looked very good I am not so down on the team as I was having seen only the hightlights/lowlights. I think they will bounce back from this game and play much better. Whether this will mean many more wins this season is an open question.
  7. Yes. Beane got rid of all the young talent that was left on the team.
  8. I couldn't watch the game tonight, but I told a friend I was out with that I was not sold on the Bills being any better than previous teams. I told him that the Jets game would be a real test because every time they have started well for 17 years, this is the kind of game they go out and lose, usually badly. Same old story. The fact that this team needs to get 2 or 3 turnovers in order to win tells you a lot about them. It is not sustainable and will not be sustained. And thanks to the fire sale of skilled players this is not a talented team.
  9. As I opined in another thread, there sure are a lot of furious white people watching the NFL.
  10. I'd still rather have Woods and Watkins than Benjamin and Matthews. More simply, Watkins >>Benjamin
  11. What a mistake Whaley made in trading for him.
  12. Maybe we can lame Whaley for global climate change, and my athlete's foot.
  13. Most people here seem to be doing their happy dance over this move. Seems like a mistake to me, but at this point I am reconciled to the fact that McBeane are going to do what they are going to do, and if I am going to be a fan of this team I should just go along for the ride. It's all on them, and if it works I will be happy and if it blows up in their faces I reserve to right to say they are idiots.
  14. I think it's funny how so many in these discussions think that this super-duper draft is going to fill every hole on the Bills' roster. They'll package all their picks to move up and get a franchise quarterback, and then use those same picks that they have given away to draft pro bowl tackles, linebackers, receivers, defensive backs, pass rushers, a running back, and offensive linemen. Piece of cake. This is what happened in 2003 when Eil Manning, Philip Rivers, and Ben Rothliesberger were drafted ahead of us, and we drafted J.P. Losman later in the first round. I didn't necessarily think it was the wrong thing to do, but in hindsight it was a mistake.
  15. You know, there are an awful lot of racist NFL fans. No kidding.
  16. Hard to imagine how much this must hurt.
  17. White people do not own the country. Republicans do not own the country. Protest is inherent in the rights given to us by the Constitution. If you see an injustice and think that something can and should be done to redress it, it is your right to bring public attention to it. "Love it or leave it" is UnAmerican.
  18. You guys have a lot of problems. Digging you out from under that mountain of horse-puckey that clouds your brains is more work than any sane human could tolerate.
  19. Yes, but add in the two Dolphins games. The Bills need at least a split against them.
  20. Exactly. Whaley did his best to give Rex and before him Marone the players they wanted. The same thing Beane is doing now for McDermott.
  21. Many of those Whaley guys who are not on the team are starting for other teams.
  22. Very interesting, and I think true. I agree the Bills don't have any stars right now except Shady. I wish they had not traded Watkins but there's no point in debating that now. Watching Taylor at QB is a roller coaster experience. He misses so many ordinary plays through inaccurate throws, holding the ball too long, not seeing the field. But then he makes plays that few if any QBs in the league can make. I can't say I feel confident that he will ever be a QB to regularly lead a team back from a deficit, but he's what we've got now and his talents are not inconsiderable. I was glad to see Dennison put in some of the sort of run plays that the Bills did so well the last few seasons. I hope he continues to be so flexible.
