  1. Yup, he always is. Looks like he's smiling half the time.
  2. We have a part Bichon, part mutt that we rescued from the Humane Society when he was probably 2-3 years old. He's now ~5-6, and his name's Buzzy (named after the great pizza/wing place in Niagara Falls - because we suck at picking names ). Here's a link to a picture of him on Flickr: http://www.flickr.co...36993/lightbox/ And another: http://www.flickr.co...157623853737803 And a third: http://www.flickr.co...tream/lightbox/ He's the first dog I've ever had -- and is pretty cool (but don't tell my wife I said that - I have to pretend I don't like him ). The coolest part was that we took him to obedience school -- and it turns out he already knew all of the commands! All the training did was teach US what he already knew! He knows sit, down, stay (you can leave the room or put food in front of him and he'll stay), drop it, leave it (even food!), kennel, and a few others. I trained him to roll over and play dead when I point my finger at him and say, "Bang!" Most people love watching that, some think I'm demented.
  3. Yeah, except I haven't seen that the product on the field is any better with the "real" refs vs. the replacements. Everyone kept crying that the replacement refs would cost a team the game -- and an argument can be made that the Packers fell into this camp (although I don't think it's cut and dry, pass interference aside). Now that the real refs cost a game, where's a similar level of outrage? BTW - check out the record of the Pats* and Packers since the new refs are in place....
  4. Everyone's saying Obama will win Wisconsin, but I'm not as convinced. He may, but I don't see how you can explain Walker winning the election for governor TWICE (recall), and Prosser winning the Supreme Court vote, but the state won't turn red? Plus, Ryan is from Wisconsin, so that has to help right? I guess we'll see.
  5. And you'll barely hear anything about this story. Now if the replacement refs had accidentally blown the whistle, all hell would be let loose.
  6. So far your prediction is coming true -- it's a tie! http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/11/06/a-tie-for-obama-and-romney-in-nations-first-voting/?hpt=hp_t2_6
  7. Mother co-signs a loan. Son dies. Mother doesn't want to pay loan back. From the email I received: "I think it's wrong for the bank to harass me for the loan of my dead son, so I started a petition on Change.org demanding that American Education Services forgive the debt and let my family grieve." And from the site itself: "Nobody told me when i cosigned the loan that I would be forced to pay them back even if my son died. Jermaine never had an opportunity to use his education and I can't use it either." http://www.change.org/petitions/national-collegiate-trust-american-education-services-forgive-my-deceased-son-s-student-loan?alert_id=iUzBTzYfuo_uywkDbItDA&utm_campaign=12794&utm_medium=email&utm_source=action_alert
  8. I've never seen any of the Daniel Craig Bond flicks. That said, some local vendors are hosting a pre-screening party next week where we listen to them talk about their products for an hour and then watch Skyfall. Are the stories pretty standalone, or will I not know what's going on if I watch it? I'm assuming they're standalone, but...
  9. Cool, let me know what you think!
  10. I can't say too much without giving anything away, but if you haven't seen this movie, I can highly recommend it. It messes with your mind - think part horror, part mind-screw. Very good flick, not on Netflix, but is available on Amazon's streaming video. http://www.amazon.com/Triangle/dp/B0036T31YY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351740023&sr=8-1&keywords=triangle
  11. Actually, it might be... Think of it -- go to Buffalo, get a signing bonus, get run out of town before half of a season is even over, go to a different team, get another signing bonus, go to the probowl/playoffs/HoF/etc.
  12. I had 9. Not bad. (10 if I get that freebie from #15 ) I'll always remember 77 seconds because my mom's boss offered her two tickets to the game on the 50 yard line (for free), and she turned them down. I was so upset. Then it turned out to be a history-making game, so I still hold a grudge on that... I told her I'd go myself with her boss and her boss' husband, but no such luck... Technically question 2 is wrong ("2) What member of the Bills is the only player to appear in 5 straight Super Bowls?") as he didn't actually APPEAR in the Super Bowl, he was just on 5 straight Super Bowl teams. But I got that right; I really wanted to see Gilbert get some playing time in the NFL. Nowadays we would've been able to trade him for a 1st and 4th rounder! I remember that game very vividly -- it was my first ever Bills game and it was REALLY cold out! We didn't get home until around 2am, and my parents made me go to school the next day. I'm lucky I stayed awake!
  13. I'd say first season is but the rest were great. And even the first season has its moments -- it helps explain the characters so you can see them develop over the years. The stories themselves weren't good though. For me, it was the little things like Sisko loving baseball -- always having a ball on his desk. It made the series more "real" I think.
  14. Microsoft has released an app for Android (and Windows Phone) that allows you to control your Xbox with your phone. There are some games that integrate with it as well and more will be coming out in the future. http://www.neowin.net/news/xbox-smartglass-app-now-available-for-android I tried it out this afternoon and it's pretty cool - you can use it to control IE on the Xbox, copy the link from the Xbox to the phone, play music on the Xbox and see details on your phone, change your avatar and more. It's scratching the surface and is a prelude to what WiiU will be doing I think (except that game developers KNOW everyone with WiiU will have a screen, similar to the old Dreamcast).
  15. He didn't specifically say that - but Clippers did.
  16. No, that was the Minnesota Wild.
  17. Just because it's not a protected class doesn't mean you won't still lose the lawsuit. Did you read the opening paragraph on the HR site? "The "lesson" for private-sector companies from a recent appeals-court ruling concerning a woman who contends she was rejected for a law-school job because of her conservative political beliefs, experts say, is: Make sure your reasons are valid and properly documented when you depart from standard operating procedure in making a hiring decision." Having a kid or being married isn't a "protected class" either, but it's illegal to make hiring decisions based on that -- heck, it's illegal to even ASK if someone is married or has kids during an interview. http://voices.yahoo.com/illegal-job-interview-questions-handle-807099.html?cat=3
  18. Since the 70s... http://www.hreonline.com/HRE/story.jsp?storyId=533344591 http://www.businessmanagementdaily.com/29657/beware-liability-if-no-hire-decision-was-based-on-politics "Wagner sued the dean, who lost. The court said no qualified immunity was available because the law clearly stated political affiliation or beliefs cannot be part of the hiring decision for public employers. (Wagner v. Jones, No. 10-2588, 8th Cir., 2011)" A good thread on the subject: http://www.linkedin.com/answers/law-legal/employment-labor-law/LAW_ELW/449714-9356514 Looks like the Supreme Court decision affects only public employees (does that mean government? Or public traded? Not sure...), but some states specifically spell it out as well. I know when I've taken classes on how to interview and hire employees that they've all said to not make a decision based on political affiliation - why open that can of worms?
  19. I actually don't - I think bumper stickers are lame... But it's curious to see how many people are willing to break the law because of a bumper sticker. (I do have a small Buffalo Bills window cling on my rear window... Is that lame? )
  20. Why does it matter?
  21. You know you're not allowed to make hiring decisions based on political beliefs, right...?
  22. Sounds like you're speaking from experience...
  23. Only if it was called a turnover on the field unfortunately.
