That's such a crock. There are plenty of Americans and documented immigrants who would take the jobs. Hell, my mom has worked in a hotel cleaning rooms and doing the laundry for decades -- and gets paid peanuts. So don't tell me that they'd have to pay people $20-$30/hr, because it's just not true.

THERE'S A BENGAL IN MY APARTMENT!!!!! (LAMP)
Fezmid replied to ajzepp's topic in Off the Wall Archives
When I read the title, I thought you meant one of these people was going to be in your apartment: http://www.bengals.com/cheerleaders/index.html Instead, you're more excited that it's a football player. Male nurse, indeed. -
Definitely the balls -- the cubes are ok, but aren't as much fun. Regarding the CPSC -- more children die from balloons every year, yet you can still buy those.
-
I bought two sets of the balls, one set of the cubes, and one set of the rods to put on my desk at work. Everyone who comes in asks what they are and then starts playing with 'em. You can make all sorts of shapes and stuff, kinda fun to mess with when you're on the phone or reading something. DON'T EAT THEM!

Maybe Congress isn't so bad afterall (uh oh, did I just get the thread moved to PPP??? )

I thought you were going to talk about Obama's Julia... ( http://www.barackobama.com/life-of-julia/ ). Yours is better though.

http://www.census.go...cb12-tps52.html "Shortly after 2:29 p.m. EDT today, the U.S. population clock will reach a milestone that is very meaningful to mathematical statisticians: it will show there are 314,159,265 residents, or pi (3.14159265) times 100 million."

Disagree completely. Five years ago, construction workers in Minnesota (hardly the scope and scale of NYC) were booked for weeks/months and I know people who called contractors who were too busy and who then passed that business on to other people.

Despite your love of cable vs. DirecTV, happy birthday!

Is it worth watching? My wife wanted to record it, but I think we forgot...

I don't think it was a case of not knowing the rules - it was a case of losing track where the ball was and thinking the two players who went into the endzone touched it. A bad call, yes, but one that was corrected via replay so had no impact on the game. This happens EVERY game, regardless of the refs. Really, you watched every game? Did you see the great call on the goalline in the GB/SD game? Knee was down an inch before SD crossed the goalline. The play was challenged and upheld. The refs weren't as bad as everyone's saying. EDIT: I did a quick search on the forums. One of the first threads I found is here: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/136731-walt-coleman-should-be-shot/page__hl__refs

The best quote of the night was during the GB/SD game. They were talking non-stop about the replacement refs; nothing specific about the game, just about the topic in general. And then one of them said, "The league really needs to get the real refs in there. They can't have everyone focusing on the replacement refs." I was dumbfounded - the only reason "everyone" was focusing on the replacement refs in that game was because THEY were talking about it! The refs made a perfect call in that game on the goalline -- SD runs it, guy is tackled just short of the goalline and that's what the refs called. They review it - and the ruling on the field stands. Didn't hear anybody talk about the fact that they got that hard call right.
-
You do realize that the "real" refs screw things up just as much, right? Anyone remember, "Just give it to 'em?" I also seem to remember last year, Stevie catching a ball that was (somehow) ruled incomplete. The ONLY reason this is being talked about is because they're replacement refs. If the exact same calls were made by the "real" refs, everyone would say, "It's the first preseason game."

Not to the extent that the government is, especially as it relates to telecom companies.
-
"Specifically, Al Franken and Rand Paul are pushing an amendment to make sure companies can't spy on their users' private communications." The problem is that companies don't generally care to spy on private communications -- it's the government that does, and they force the vendors to hand of over that private information.

Yeah, I said legal.
-
Agreed - it's a great album. I paid $5 for it a month or so ago and would do it again. For $1, it's a steal. If you're really frugal, here's how you can (legally) get it for free if you have an Android device. First, buy the "free" app of the day here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/ref=nav_sap_mas_12_08_01?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00885MDHM That gives you a $1 MP3 credit. Use that credit to buy the Rush album. Boom, free album.
-
Since there's a lot of Rush fans here, I thought I'd share that the album (MP3 version) is only a buck on Amazon today. http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/77840/amazon.com-rush-clockwork-angels-digital-booklet-full-mp3-album

Speaking of TSO - tour dates announced! http://trans-siberian.com/tour1/index.php?utm_source=JangoMail&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=TSO+Winter+Tour+2012+Announcement%3A+The+Lost+Christmas+Eve+%28276119100%29&utm_content=whit0421%40yahoo.com And they're not doing "Christmas Eve and Other Stories" this year, they're instead doing "The Lost Christmas Eve" to mix it up a bit . Can't wait, although disappointed that they're in MN the weekend after Christmas.

I've been a DT fan since I&W came out. That said, I think they peaked with Scenes from a Memory and I haven't been quite as enthralled with their albums since then. I haven't listened to any songs from the newest album (aside from the one that was nominated for a Grammy, and while I thought it was ok, I didn't think it was great). That said, they still have a ton of great albums that I love listening to.

His answer was spot on. Have you LOOKED at an ID recently? ID is short for "identification," as in name, address, picture, etc... I don't know where you're going with your neighbor-who-looks-like-me theory. But you and EiL obviously live in a different universe from the rest of the world. I'm out, you win.
-
I'll admit I haven't done extensive research, but everything I have read seems to indicate that people without IDs can get them for free, so it's not limited to just Wisconsin... And if you have a job, you already have an ID, so the only people without IDs don't have jobs... And if we want them to get jobs, they'll need an ID anyway, so..... What's the problem again?
