  1. Dream Theater, Shadow Gallery, Fates Warning, Ayreon. Lately been listening to Seether and Sixx A.M., a little more mainstream than I usually do.
  2. Yeah, I won't disagree with that. There's some good ones, but overall .... not so much. On the other hand, most people simply don't comment. This article currently has well over 4k hits, and only 35 comments, so.... Whatever. Also, that article should've been pushed sooner -- but it wasn't published until around midnight, which is early morning in the UK (we have a large UK readership), so it looks like "real" news to them and they complain. If it had been published Sunday afternoon, there probably would've been less complaints, but there were no other editors around to approve it at that time.

  4. Has anyone heard of Buckyballs? They're basically just small magnets are a lot of fun to play with. I have a couple of sets on my desk and they're good de-stressers. However it looks like the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), a government agency that approved the product back in 2010, are reversing course and are trying to put a ban on the product. Indeed, if you look online it's hard to find them - Amazon.com and ThinkGeek.com used to sell them, but they're nowhere to be found on the virtual store shelves anymore, although the company themselves are still selling direct. There's a nice video and explanation of the issue here: https://www.getbucky...save-our-balls/ If you want to try the product yourself, you can go to their website and use the code SUCKITGROUPON to save 45% and get free shipping. With everything going on in this country, we're spending our time trying to shutdown a small business that sells magnets... Because a few kids were dumb and ate them? :wallbash: Hey CPSC, hands off my balls! http://www.change.org/petitions/us-cpsc-cease-magnet-prohibition
  5. Kinda surprised the entire thread has no mention of him and his wife yet...
  6. I thought they said he had a broken rib or something after that game?
  7. I've seen this story several times over the past few days... And everyone keeps saying she was raped. SHE WAS NOT RAPED! She was sexually assaulted which is NOT the same thing. I looked up the Kentucky laws and first degree sexual assault is if you inappropriately touch someone when they're passed out. Kids were obviously in the wrong, but it's a far cry from rape, IMHO.
  8. That wasn't actually my point - I cut and pasted it from the review AJ posted. But I still do think the fights were overall kind of dull - punch, punch, punch... When that wasn't working, what'd he do? Punch, punch, punch... It's not a deal breaker on the movie, just something that I didn't think was done very well when I was watching it.
  9. That's the thing, I'm NOT a big comic guy. I've never read a Batman comic before. And I really don't see how anyone can say the third one is the best in the trilogy. Yes, it was an entertaining and fun movie and better than most movies, but I still don't think it was put together anywhere near as good as the first two. To each their own.
  10. I actually agree with a lot of what he writes. Yeah, he's whiny about it and could work on his presentation, but he's spot on a lot of times: He hits the nail on the head with this line: This isn’t an embarrassing chapter. But it is by far the most inept of Nolan’s run. The lack of impact this film gave me was genuinely shocking. Like I said, it's not a bad movie, it's better than most, but it's nowhere near as good as the first two in my opinion.
  11. I just figured if Wayne saw the tat/scar/whatever, that he would've instantly been suspicious of her. But he wasn't....
  12. Did you see the spoiler I mentioned above? What did you think about that?
  13. I seem to be in the minority here... While I liked the movie, I don't think it was anywhere near as good as the first two in the trilogy. Maybe it's because I'm not a big Batman fan in general and know little about the history, but it just wasn't that captivating to me. Now it WAS better than most movies I've seen, but it was just several steps below the first two to me. I'm glad I saw it. It's definitely worth watching. Just not as epic as the first two, IMHO.
  14. For those who are interested, I'm giving away the Luke drive: http://www.neowin.net/news/giveaway-star-wars-usb-flash-drive-by-mimoco
  15. My play-by-play skills is what makes me the most valuable player on the team.

  17. Why do you think that's a bad thing...?
  18. Like I said, we're only hearing the yoga instructor's side of the story. What if the person in question was fully expecting to be able to relax for 30 minutes, but got a call from the CEO about something that needed addressing ASAP? And if those calls only happen once or twice a year, why shouldn't she be allowed to attend the classes? It's entirely possible that the person was just being a jerk and playing with Twitter while she was there, but I find that much less likely considering she was sitting front and center in the class. What happened to not judging people until you walk a mile in their shoes?
  19. Instantaneous? No. Respond within 10 minutes? Yes. I'm not trying to make myself sound "important." I'm just telling you what the expectations are for every IT department I've ever worked in. Also keep in mind that you're only hearing the yoga instructor's side of the story.
  20. Wow, even you're ripping on 'em? This is the 8th series -- they've already done Han, Stormtropers, Darth Vader, Maul, R2D2, C3PO, etc, etc. Besides, Ackbar is awesome!
  21. A company called Mimoco makes character-themed USB flash drives and they sent me some of their new Star Wars ones to review. While there's not much to review about a flash drive, I figured some people were would find them cool - I know I did. (EDIT: My title got screwed up - I thought it stopped your typing when you reached the limit. Oh well. ) http://www.neowin.ne...-with-character
  22. Ahh, so you have something in place to prevent burglary? Kinda like how many people in this thread want something in place to prevent voter fraud?
  23. How is it disturbing others...? The article never said the phone rang, beep, or made any noise. So how does someone typing on a keyboard distract you? Aren't you supposed to be centering yourself or somesuch in yoga and not paying attention to what someone else is doing? It's an occupation that you want to keep, and if you're on call 24/7, you better have your phone to respond to an emergency or you won't have an occupation anymore. I'll admit that this would be completely different if she was just checking email or surfing the web. The article doesn't describe what the person was doing (because the obvious slant was, "yoga teacher got screwed!"), but I doubt someone would go to the class, sit in the front, and then just screw around on a phone.
