  1. I'm skeptical. "At that point, mile marker 134, the bike was clocked at 97 mph, Sgt. William Lovely said. It reached 193 mph at mile marker 114 in the town of Catskill, he said. Troopers did not pursue the motorcycle, he said." So he was clocked at 97 mph, but nobody went to pursue him. Within the next mile, he increased his speed nearly 100mph? If he maintained his 97mph speed, he would've gone a mile in around 35 seconds. I'm just not convinced that someone would be able to more than double their speed in that time AND have someone accurately clock them exactly one mile away, but not turn their lights on to slow him down.
  2. Well that guy's obviously a moron. Check the Wisconsin DOT website instead: http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/drivers/drivers/apply/idcard.htm Or the Wisconsin GAB (Government Accountability Board): http://gab.wi.gov/node/1882 http://gab.wi.gov/elections-voting/photo-id
  3. In WI, the proposal was to allow people to get a free ID if they didn't already have one.
  4. They're already not though. I fill in a bubble with a pen. Minnesota draws a line to the candidate they want. New York has those wacky machines where you pull levers. Florida has the "hanging chads." So why is that ok, but requiring an ID (for states who chose to go that route) not ok? I was clearly joking about the disenfranchised comment -- although I DID find it amusing that I had to legally pay to park at the municipal clerk's office, yet nobody complains about that.
  5. Can't people hump it on foot 36 blocks to get a free ID from the DMV then?
  6. Fight what battle? If I hadn't paid, I would've been parked illegally. Therefore I had to pay to vote. That said, Wisconsin is offering FREE IDs to folks, so it's a moot point. I live right across the border -- I'm about 18 miles away from St. Paul, MN, but technically live in Wisconsin. It really kinda sucks since I get no WI news (unless I hunt for it myself), and doing taxes is annoying because I work in MN so pay all my taxes there... Except for the ones I don't. There used to be tax reciprocity so I only had to fill out one form, but that was cancelled a couple of years ago. Sounds like they might be bringing it back though which will be nice.
  7. I'll be out of the state next week at a conference, so had to go down to the Municipal Clerk's office to vote early (glad they allow that). However what I found interesting was that I had to pay for parking. Was I just disenfranchised?!?! I mean, I had to put a quarter into the meter just so I could vote. And voting is a RIGHT, dammit, I shouldn't have to PAY for it. I want my quarter back! /sarcasm
  8. Happy (belated) birthday, you poker playing Focker! You're 40, and it's all downhill from here old man!
  9. More proof that you're not at all open-minded like you claimed.
  10. They covered the entire team, I just quoted the defensive line because, frankly, it's our biggest addition.
  11. Yeah, I saw that -- the overall portion must've been boilerplate or something, because if you read the section specifically on defensive backs, they note that Florence was released. They have Gilmore and Williams starting.
  12. Didn't see this posted and thought it was an interesting read - mostly from a fantasy football perspective, but still good overall. http://subscribers.footballguys.com/2012/12teamreport-buf.php "The Bills have the potential to field one of the best defensive lines in the league next year. The main reason for that is the surprising addition of Mario Williams in free agency, an elite pass rusher in the prime of his career."
  13. And your friend has to trust giving you full access over his DirecTV account... This is DirecTV's biggest issue -- the installers are not DirecTV employees, but rather subcontractors. How do you ensure that all of your subcontractors know what they're doing and act professionally? That's why if an installer sucks, you can call and usually get either free movie channels or a discount on your bill, but it still is frustrating. I've actually been lucky and never had an issue, but I have friends who have had lazy installers in the past. No really good solution to that problem though other than the customer service they already provide. As others have noted, the price is down to $199 this year. I suspect that they won't be giving any discounts off of that price either, but we'll see.
  14. I did. You apparently didn't. All firefighter/EMT/etc were exempted (for now?). Only a small number of them supported Walker. The bigger statewide unions endorsed Barrett, yet they're still exempt. I listened to it when it first came out, and I'm not convinced. Based on your post, I can tell you already have your mind made up - you're not looking to be swayed one way or another, and that's fine. Just don't pretend that you are.
  15. Here's the link showing you're not 100% right: http://www.politifac...scott-walker-a/ As for #1: I never really got the feeling that Walker knew who he was talking to, or at least not that he had had conversations with them in the past. But who knows. I haven't heard anything on #3, so skipping it until I have time to look into it more. However, what's wrong with requiring voters to prove who they are? As for #4 -- the guy went door to door to campaign...?? That's what we're complaining about?
  16. Yes, this! I'm shocked - the JS usually leans very left, plastering anti-republican articles on the front page and not commenting (or only very briefly) on anti-democrat topics. For them to support Walker... How much does support like this really mean though? I know I never pay attention to so-and-so supporting candidate X and so-and-so supporting candidate Y. Does it really sway anyone?
  17. This wasn't at my graduation ceremony (BU is big - there's a lot of 'em!), but I heard about it from other students yesterday. A swarm of bees attacked a chair at the graduation ceremony for some reason. Apparently harmless, but still very creepy! http://www.metro.us/boston/local/article/1143654--video-boston-university-becomes-bee-u-before-commencement
  18. Trying to knock some sense into your head so that you see my point? I appreciate that!
  19. I understand what you're saying, but I still disagree. Is the movie E.T. an "Alien" genre or a "sci-fi" genre? It's obviously in the sci-fi genre (to me, anyway). But like Hops said, it's just a terminology thing so we can agree to disagree.
  20. You made my point. Italian is not a genre. Irishmen is not a genre. Vampire is not a genre. All are CHARACTERS in a movie. I've only seen the first season and thought it was good (and the intro is amazing like you said). Not sure about after that though. Regardless, my initial point still stands - saying "I don't like the vampire genre" makes no sense.
  21. Vampire isn't a genre any more than "Irishman" or "Italian" is a genre. It's simply a character type. There's good vampire shows/movies (True Blood, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) and there's bad vampire shows/movies (Twilight). But none of these are a "vampire" genre.
  22. I second Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. I loved Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog Do Clerks and/or Mallrats count as obscure? And lastly, I found Hey Stop Stabbing Me to be pretty funny -- very low budget (literally $500), and it drags on a little, but when it works, it's hilarious (ignore the cover - has nothing to do with the movie).
  23. But you'd need someone to push the folks into the water....
