  1. If we're going dream, let's dream big.
  2. I have a '99 Camry now and it runs great - so I'd definitely consider another one. Was looking at Infiniti, but they're a bit more than I wanted to spend (even $35k is pushing it). Right now, those are probably the only two -- do I go with boring but ultra-reliable or sporty with cool features but not as a reliable? Or do I skip the whole car thing and keep driving my 13 year old car? Have fun at the concert! They skipped over Minneapolis this year. D'oh! That's me taking it away from myself.
  3. Thanks for the comment! I was first turned onto the Charger because a friend of mine has a 2006 (first or second year they were re-introduced). His is bare-bones, no frills, but it was VERY comfortable inside - including the backseat -- and was a smooth ride. My friend loves his, except that it's RWD and it sucks on bad winter days (you don't have to worry about that ). So when I started thinking about a new car a few months ago, I looked into it and saw that you could not only get AWD, but also all sorts of toys like you noted. For the price point, it seems pretty good. Just have to test drive now. BTW, I did talk to my mechanic about Chargers as well. He said they're fun cars, but do start to have some problems at about 40k miles. Something about a tension rod, at least in older models, but who knows about the 2011/12. PS: Still love my Stewart Filmscreen.
  4. I think you're mixing up your request. Registering a domain name does not mean they host anything other than your name. Yes, GoDaddy CAN host your website for you if you want - but you don't have to. You can use them for your name and then just have xxxcow.com point to whatever IP address you want on the Internet. It sounds like you want a HOSTING option, not necessarily just a domain name registrar.
  5. This was in response to a bill that was passed to allow the sale/use of fireworks around the 4th of July - something neighboring states (like Wisconsin) already allow: http://www.startribune.com/politics/statelocal/149393315.html Specifically: The silly part is that people just drive into Wisconsin, buy fireworks, and then bring them back to Minnesota to fire off.
  6. I thought bikes had to follow all the rules of the road, no? Wouldn't that include phone use?
  7. Didn't we re-sign Vanek that year...?
  8. So I was going through my finances and noticed that I hadn't donated to Tom's walk yet this year. I did a search to see if he was still doing it and lo-and-behold, I just missed his post (grad school...). So here's a friendly BUMP so that others who may have missed it can help contribute as well. Good luck, Tom!
  9. Trust me, I've been debating that as well. That's why my first step is to simply test drive -- maybe I won't even like it.
  10. LaHood did, which is the topic of the thread: Tough federal legislation is the only way to deal with what he called a "national epidemic," he said at a distracted-driving summit in San Antonio, Texas, that drew doctors, advocates and government officials.
  11. You don't think that the fact that there aren't anywhere near as many people dying now on the roads as there have been in the past 60+ years (despite a LOT more driving) means maybe we're over-reacting just a tiny bit calling distracted driving deaths a national crisis?
  12. Well, the dealership told me that if I find the car somewhere else that I should come back to buy from them so that they could do the swap like you mentioned. I was trying to figure out why I would do all of the legwork to give them the sale though....
  13. Figured some might be interested in this, no matter what side you're on. Al Franken was booed mercilessly at the Minnesota Swarm lacrosse game tonight. You'd think being a former comedian/actor that he would've been able to deflect it with ease, but instead he got very defensive, started babbling (which prompted more booing), and tried lecturing the crowd on what a great guy he was (which prompted even more booing). Not his best moment, although I found it amusing. His babbling went something like, "To those two cheered me or did nothing, thank you. To those who booed me, know that I helped the team. I was important. If not for me, they couldn't have played." (or something like that). I had no idea what he was talking about, so just did a search and found that he was probably referring to this: http://www.startribu.../139052129.html So he helped an assistant coach, a scout and an equipment manager get into the country back in February.... And he wanted a "look at me moment" for that. My wife was shocked at the booing and said, "Obviously the Swarm don't know the type of people who buy tickets to their sport. Apparently based on this, they're not democrats."
  14. I see your study and raise you this: http://m.wardsauto.c...uce-road-deaths Specifically: "U.S. highway deaths in 2010 fell to their lowest level since 1949, even though motorists drove nearly another 21 billion miles (33.6 billion km)."
  15. Yup - while driving to work yesterday, I saw a guy shaving in the car behind me. Ummm, did you really just quote a study from over two decades ago as your "facts" that people can't talk on the phone and drive at the same time? You do realize that there were no hands-free devices back then, right...?
  16. I didn't recognize a single name..... Granted I just scimmed through it, but still...
  17. I like the team -- it's weird how Rachel completely melts down and then becomes a superhero and demolishes the competition after that. If only she could do that without melting down first...
  18. That's actually not true; the cost of used cars has gone way up recently. For kicks, I just went to KBB.com and priced a 2010 Camry XLE v6 -- and they're saying it would cost $25k. Heck, my wife's 2004 Corolla is still worth 1/3 of what we paid for it. If you're looking for real-world examples, I just pulled up a 2002 Camry with 111,000 miles on it for $10k. No thanks. http://www.usedcars....icleId=13476609 Now that doesn't mean I'm going to spend $33k on a new car -- but I'd at least like to test drive it to see what I think. Chances are I'll stick with my current car awhile longer and buy another Camry when the time comes since I like the reliability, but it's nice to have options, especially since in our house,we don't trade our cars in every few years.
  19. Thanks! It's been a long two years, but it's finally done and nobody can take it away from me.
  20. That's the Challenger... (old Charger looks like new Challenger). Charger looks like this: http://www.bernardsnorthtown.net/new/Dodge/2012-Dodge-Charger-0e092aba0a0d048d00974e4b420c7f31.htm
  21. So I just finished graduate school today (YAY!), and I decided I wanted to test drive a 2012 Dodge Charger because I'm in the market for a new vehicle. So I drive to the local dealership, ask to test drive the car... And I'm told that they sold their only Charger a couple of days ago! He checks on when they're getting more in, and it appears it'll be weeks. It's not like this dealership was tiny -- there were a lot of OTHER cars on the lot (including a few Challengers). And it's not like Dodge isn't heavily advertising the Charger on TV - I've seen several commercials for them over the past few days. How can you be a dealership and not stock at least one or two of every model the company sells??
  22. Why were there live rounds in the gun.... When I took a class, we were given real guns (which apparently is also frowned upon for some reason -- the instructor said, "Screw that, I want you to know what a gun really feels like when there's no ammo so that you don't do something stupid when I give you a real gun on the range!"), but fake ammo to practice loading/unloading.
  23. I found this quote quite... startling. Not something you normally hear from any politician. "Secretary of State Doug La Follette said of Walker: "He has become the rock star to the right wing, traveling around the country. He disgusts me, let's be candid about it." http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/democrats-take-aim-at-walker-during-forum-ta54noj-148621635.html It's also amusing to hear the candidates complain about out-of-state money funding Walker's campaign, when those same people are getting money funneled in from out-of-state unions. Politic(ian)s are crazy.
  24. Happy birthday, Lana!
