  2. Follow-up to the bee story: the queen was used to save a dying hive. http://www.bu.edu/today/2012/commencement-bees-happy-in-new-home/
  3. Obviously your friend should've watched Dangerous Minds ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112792/ ) before teaching. Then she could've reformed all of the kids and turned them into superstars! As for the "assignment" -- at least #6 is good advice.
  4. The problem is once you're infected, you don't know if everything's been cleaned up or not. The only way to know for sure is to reformat, and it really doesn't take that long to do.

  6. Stop going to porn sites? Only partially kidding. It sounds like you're going to some bad sites that are installing unwanted programs on your computer. Stop clicking every link you see.
  7. The Fenway tour was pretty awesome. I'm not a baseball fan at all, but it was cool to learn about the history, see the field from all different locations, learn about the "hidden code" on the outfield wall, etc. Definitely worth it. Never heard of the Bleacher Bar.
  8. FYI - we did the one from the Prudential Center and that's where we saw Cheers. Don't think you see that with the Aquarium one. The Prudential Center is also where the observatory I mentioned is located so it's convenient if you like that sort of thing (I loved it, got some great pictures!)
  9. They do tours on gamedays -- they stop 3 hours prior to the game though: http://boston.redsox...llpark/tour.jsp Also, regarding Cheers -- if you do the Duck Tour, they drive by Cheers so you can get a picture of the place without having to stop.
  10. I went to Boston last month to attend my graduation from BU -- so I have lots of things to suggest! Catch a game at Fenway. We had tickets in the outfield behind the bullpen and paid about $27/ticket for them. Great ballpark, and fun to watch the game. Do a tour of Fenway. They run these every hour and costs about $15. They talk about the history of the stadium, take you around the park to the Green Monster, press level, etc, etc. Fun way to spend an hour or so - and some great photo ops. Sunset cruise -- we took a cruise around the harbor and got great views of the city and the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides). You also get to see the flag lowering ceremony every night which is pretty cool. http://www.bostonhar...set-cruise.aspx Eat lots of Italian in the north end. Buy a cannoli at Mike's Pastry: http://mikespastry.c..._info_10CT.html Do a Duck Boat tour. Their land/water vehicles that drive around the city, go into into the water, and then drive around the city again. Great to see the city from land and sea. http://www.bostonducktours.com/ The Prudential Center observatory was also pretty cool if you like seeing a city from 50+ stories up. There's a discount for buying the Duck Tour and the Observatory ticket together: http://www.prudentia...etail.php?id=64 Avoid the Black Rose! It's an Irish pub on State St. and the food was terrible. They've won awards and such, so maybe it was just a bad day - but was by far the worst meal I ate there. We did a walking tour of the city as well which was kind of cool. They walked through the cemetery and talked about interesting stuff. Saw where the Declaration of Independence was first read, and other interesting pieces of history. If you have some extra free time, driving to Plymouth to see Plymouth Plantation, Plymouth Rock, and a replica of the Mayflower are pretty cool. It's a good day trip. Another day trip is a drive to Salem. Lots of witch history, including the fact that the original dungeons were found in the parking lot of what is now Walgreens... And nobody thought to preserve it at the time, go figure. You can do tours of the various campuses. One thing that was recommended to us (that we didn't do) was to get a student tour of Harvard. They're free, although tipping $5-$10/person is customary. They walk you around campus and talk about the history and such. Don't be afraid to use the public transportation! You can get a 7 day unlimited subway pass for only $15, VERY economical and it's easy to get around. Oh, the Museum of Fine Art was really cool too - lots of great artwork including originals from Monet, Van Gogh, etc. Hope that helps.
  11. Saw him last year in Vegas at a private show for HP. I've never been a Beatles fan, nor a Wings fan, nor a McCartney fan in general. However as you said -- he put on an AMAZING show, I was blown away.
  12. I've read a lot of people in Wisconsin are pissed that Obama didn't show his support. Many of these people are debating whether they want to support Obama during the next election. Sure, they'll probably still vote for him, but I'm getting the sense that he won't have as many citizen volunteers as he did in the previous election. I think this quote from the article is hilarious: “My suspicion is that all across this country, governors who are dealing with tough budgets have to make tough decisions,” he said. “But one of the lessons learned is that it is better to make them with people than against people." Ummm, Walker won the recall, and if he would've worked WITH everyone, then the changes would have never been put in place. If anything, this is showing governors that they can make the difficult decisions and that the people support it.
  13. It was covered here -- although always glossed over in the talking points. My in-laws are both instructors at a technical college, and are both very anti-Walker. After the legislation, I was in the car with my father-in-law and he lamented that his paychecks are down and the union has no power. I countered and said, "You can offset the losses by not paying union dues." He responded, "No, we need the union." I asked him why contribute if they have no power, and he just said "Because the union is important." Ummm, ok....
  14. Check your bill -- does it say "owned receiver" or "leased receiver?" Usually when they swap out with the new ones, you go from owned to leased. There's no change in billing, just how they handle the inventory. I'm still shocked that they didn't work with you. I'm pretty sure you didn't actually get to customer retention and that the person who transferred you sent you to the wrong place since I've never had any trouble with them in the past (heck, they paid me $250 once because snow covered my dish and the guy who came out said he couldn't go on the roof because it was too slippery... Snow melted a day later anyway!)
  15. You should've made this a poll. Personally I'd be tempted - how cool to be the first humans on a different planet? But I don't know that I could do it.
  16. It's true. Video on CNN: http://www.cnn.com/video/?hpt=hp_t2#/video/politics/2012/06/06/early-wisconsin-barrett-slapped.cnn
  17. So will the left start the recall petitions on June 6th, 2013...? What hasn't been covered as much is the fact that there were a bunch of other recalls going on in the state. It looks like the GOP has won all of them that have been called, and have a 20 point lead on the one race that isn't done yet (28% reporting) http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/june-5-recall-election-results-155977565.html
  18. At a conference (HP Discover) this week so don't have time to read the whole thread.... Did you specifically ask to talk to Customer Retention? They're the ones that can help you out. That said, I've heard people having trouble getting hardware deals for some reason. That doesn't make sense to me, since hardware is how they keep you as a customer, but... Anyway, I'd call customer retention and say, "Look, I really wanted to stay with DirecTV, but I need X, Y, and Z. I'll even take them in the form of programming credits (maybe $50 off/month for 10 months?)." Throw out some options and see what they say -- but they should be willing to work with you much more than the non-retention folks. Sorry I can't read the whole thread and respond in more detail - feel free to PM me and I'll try to get to it later this week.
  19. Happy birthday!!!
  20. So you admit that there's fraud on both sides, yet don't think we should have voter ID?
  21. I don't - Facebook does. I simply did a Google search on her name.
  22. Why is that silly? I think paintball and movies are a good thing. They're still together as a team, but without the pressures of work. I know I take my team out to lunch and a movie a couple of times a year and it really helps with morale and bonding. Remember one of the keys to Buffalo's winning years was the friendships - everyone hung out together. I suspect that's what he's trying to foster.
  23. Ahhh, I misread the numbers. Good call. I'm still skeptical that you can go that fast, but it's a bit more plausible.
