  1. You mean he reminds you of a starting CB on a Superbowl winning team...? And you want to cut him...?
  2. No problem, I'm just pointing out that you watched two minutes of a show that was on for five years and that was itself a spinoff of a show that was on for seven years. You in essence picked up the book in the middle and read a single sentence. Plus, there's a ton of shows that are great but had pretty weak first seasons.
  3. You can judge acting, production, and dialog in two minutes? Angel was written by the same team that did FIrefly. Another suggestion -- Archer is awesome. I know season 1 is on Netflix, don't know if season 2 is there yet or not. I find it hilarious. Season 3 is on FX now.
  4. You watched 2 minutes of Angel, a show that was a spinoff of another show (Buffy), and decided, "Don't like this...?" From a writing standpoint, it's one of the best shows that's ever been on television. If you (or anyone) hasn't already seen Firefly, then you should watch that streaming on Netflix. Best TV show, ever. But don't get too attached since Fox doesn't know what to do with a good television show.
  5. All I know is that there's a die-hard 49ers fan in my office and he was thanking the Bills for letting SF sign Whitner. He's as die-hard about the team as we are about the Bills and he loved the pickup at the time, and still loves it today.
  6. Awesome news, congrats!
  7. Yes, I do. My house is (was...) valued at around $180k and our property taxes are around $2,200. So for a $710,000 house, we'd be paying around $8,800 - a far cry from $15k. In Minnesota, property taxes are even lower. Not to mention our sales tax is nowhere near the ~9% it is in WNY.
  8. You're a peeping Tom who knows about the beer because you secretly watch mead in his house...
  9. If you don't like the last two Batman movies, then you don't like movies.
  10. Care to explain? I'm assuming you mean "all of those perverts out there," which is statistically inaccurate nowadays compared to the past.
  11. I like this quote, as it backs up the car vs plane thing. My wife and I went on our honeymoon to London in 2001 -- a month after 9/11 -- and had most of our relatives telling us we should cancel the trip.
  12. As has been stated though, statistically crime is way down from back then. The only reason people are scared is because of the over dramatization of the media. Isn't the saying something like, "A single death is a tragedy, a hundred deaths is a statistic." Nobody fears statistics but everyone fears the single tragedy for whatever reason. We fear the things we shouldn't, and don't fear the things we should. The same thing with flying - many people are afraid to fly because the plane can crash, but statistically speaking you have a better chance of crashing on your way to the airport. Car crashes aren't reported, they're statistics. Airplane crashes are big news.
  13. So the kid misbehaved so badly that he was suspended from using the bus five times. The mom decides to teach him a lesson and make him walk 4.5 miles to school. And she gets arrested because little Jimmy "could have been abducted!" http://www.kait8.com/story/16945922/mom-charged-after-forcing-10-year-old-to-walk-45-miles-to-school http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/mom-faces-jail-making-son-walk-school-232106412--abc-news.html
  14. What would be the point....? So you can pay a premium for Intel hardware that he's probably already using...?
  15. Yeah, exactly. And somehow Foo Fighters won for both rock AND metal.... :wallbash:
  16. They beat out Dream Theater and Megadeth for the hard rock/metal Grammy.... What a farce.
  17. Did you like the X-Men movies? That's along the same lines I would think.
  18. Zen Studios gave me some free Xbox Live and PSN codes for their new pinball table they're releasing on Tuesday. They want the codes distributed BEFORE the game is released. I'm giving one away in a few hours, so the odds of winning will be pretty good. There's a separate contest for each. It'd be great for a TSW member to win one. http://www.neowin.net/news/giveaway-epic-quest-for-xbla-win-it-before-you-can-buy-it http://www.neowin.net/news/giveaway-epic-quest-for-psn-win-it-before-you-can-buy-it
  19. Firefly had nothing to do with people and everything to do with Fox being stupid. They aired the episodes out of order. They pre-empted all the time. The advertising was practically non-existent. They didn't give it any time to gain hold. It was the second most TiVo'd show in history (roughly 800,000 if I recall correctly) at a time where the networks didn't know what to do with that information and didn't count it in their data. And (almost) everyone who actually saw it, loved it.
  20. Nick Barnett just last year.
  21. The Galaxy Note is a weird device. Too big to be a phone, too small to be a tablet. Weird device, but kinda neat.
  22. If I buy flowers, she comes to my house...?
  23. Last year's VW commercial was the kid dressed as Vader who "started" the car. The commercial switched to the Cantina to indicate they were watching the commercials and the one guy says, "I liked this better than last year's," to which Vader choked him. Kinda clever, although not great.
