  1. "Sesame Workshop has asked the Obama campaign to take down a new TV ad that prominently features the famous talking bird, in a satirical spot mocking Mitt Romney for calling for an end to PBS subsidies." http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/10/09/obama-campaign-deploys-big-bird-in-new-ad/
  2. There's nothing wrong with liking a show.
  3. My wife loved that show. I found it extremely boring.... When the war started, I thought it might get better, but it didn't...
  4. At the bottom of the pile, recovering a fumble, one of our few positive plays on defense today.
  5. Yeah, I was rather surprised at how dirty the city was. I mean it wasn't a complete dump or anything, but it wasn't as nice as I pictured it would be.
  6. Yeah, but do you really think the new 10 cent bag tax is going to deter people from getting a bag very often? I didn't see anybody turn down a bag in the stores I was at (except me, because I'm cheap, but the day before they put the tax in place, I recycled the bag when I got back to my hotel...). So to me it looks like it's just another revenue stream for the government.
  7. You DO realize that twobillsdrive.com is NOT owned by the Buffalo Bills, don't you...?
  8. So I'm in San Francisco for a conference this week and have the local news on in the background. The first story they talked about was the fact that a law goes into effect today where stores are not allowed to give customers a bag unless they charge 10 cents for it (and NO plastic bags!). What kind of lame law is that?!?! The next story was even stranger -- the air here apparently isn't very good today, so they're enacting a "Spare the Air" day, where they're requesting people to take public transportation (so you're outside in the bad air longer???) and to avoid using gas grills.... What the heck?! EDIT: Oooh, another crazy one! Illegal immigrants can now get a driver's license! And the governor of the state says that everyone will be safer if drivers have licenses! (like requiring a license automatically means everyone will get one and will drive safer!). California news is like watching a sitcom!
  9. I'm just flew into SF yesterday, and while looking through the little information packet you get in the hotel, they actually mentioned this one!
  10. There was a talking Tron game too. "Sector 5, track 3." Intruder alert! Intruder alert!
  11. Here's the intro And I don't remember ever seeing a commercial for it, but I found it on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgAdyvllAQM&NR=1&feature=fvwp
  12. Haven't watched much of the game tonight ,but loved this part. "Ray Rice thinks he was held. So does Flacco. On to the next play!" Not a replay. Not a question on whether the "real" refs were right or not. Nothing. Yet with the "replacement" refs, we have to listen for 10 minutes while the announcer says that a late hit out of bounds isn't illegal if the player didn't mean to hurt anyone... There were a couple of other examples -- hit to the head called in one case, not in another -- where the announcers are not anywhere near as critical of the calls. We all expected that, but it's still pretty ridiculous.
  13. Damn replacement painters...
  14. Wrote a short article and tied it to a gaming thread on Neowin. A nice trip down memory lane. Article: http://www.neogamr.net/news/videogame-virgin-what-was-your-first-game Forum post: http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1108441-video-game-virgin-whats-the-first-game-you-remember-playing/
  15. Post of the day!
  16. No, but it sounds fair.
  17. And how exactly does this hurt the NFL....?
  18. I found this picture creepy -- similar to the "old lady/young lady" pictures, only this is a photograph... http://500px.com/photo/14570937
  19. The "problem" is that the term "control" is not really defined anywhere - it's ambiguous. At least the player touched it, unlike Testaverde who scored a phantom touchdown because his helmet crossed the goalline... Oh yeah, Seattle lost that game.
  20. This is the worst news ever!!! http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-202_162-57519703/global-bacon-shortage-unavoidable-group-says/
  21. The "real" refs have been doing that since the beginning of time. I'm honestly not seeing many more "strange" calls than with the "real" refs, although the announcers like to make it sound like every call is wrong and that this never happened before. But I know I've seen refs signal the wrong team has had penalties, have called "offsides" on the offense (no such thing), and we all know they've made mistakes on possession, fumbles, penalties, etc, etc, etc. It's just magnified here because everyone's yelling about everything (including how a late hit isn't really a penalty unless there was intent to injure. ) Seriously, you've never seen that happen with the so-called "pros???"
  22. I don't recall this level of outrage in the playoffs last season... http://content.usato.../1#.UGGv5K5cYik The best part about the replacement refs is that it doesn't seem like the "golden" teams are getting every single call anymore. There are bad calls being made, sure - but that's ALWAYS been a part of the game. This time though, every team is getting some calls going their way, and not just the Packers, Patriots, etc. Seems more fair to me.
  23. Agree with this 100%.
  24. Sorry, but he's wrong. Even if the calls in this game were incorrect (and I argue that it WAS a catch and the only mistake was not calling offensive PI -- which they never call on a hail mary), the "Just give it to 'em" game was a FAR bigger disgrace - and done with "real" officials.
