What annoying bank are you using that calls you all the time? I wouldn't want to be bothered all the time... That said, my card's only been used illegally two or three times. And each time the thief actually cloned it -- it was "physically" used in some foreign country. -

I've been saying this for years - most people roll their eyes and say it's no big deal. I've stopped evangelizing it. Never smart to use your own money when you can use someone else's interest free with more protection - and usually with a reward to boot. -
My favorite comments are the ones saying things like, "If BP is banned from doing business with the government due to lack of integrity, then the government itself should be shutting down." http://news.yahoo.com/epa-temporarily-suspends-bp-u-federal-government-contracts-135930995--finance.html

I always find it funny that the same people complaining about filibuster thought that the Democrats fleeing the state of Wisconsin in order to prevent anything from happening was "heroic."

Yeah, it should run if plugged in - you can confirm that it's bypassing the battery by disconnecting it and running without one at all. If it powers up at all, you're good there. Could be a hard drive problem -- try booting off of a CD/DVD (you might need to change the boot order to point to the optical drive first).

Watch the replay again. The Colts SNAPPED the ball with 1 second left. You think a spike takes 0 seconds to run? It takes the ref a second to call that it was an incomplete pass. Plus, the play before that, Luck was in the pocket a second without the clock going down a tick. Did it result in the loss? Not directly, but it showed that once again we were fighting against the refs AND the opponent. Heck, even on our tight end TD pass, he had to push the ref aside to get to the ball.

Buffalo forced two punts in the 4th quarter, and allowed only one score. They were playing well. And should've forced a punt on the last drive, only to be screwed (again) by the refs.

Anyone ever take an online class?
Fezmid replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yeah, the Boston University program is anything but a cakewalk. I was putting in roughly 20-30 hours a week. Now part of it was because I wanted to excel (graduated with distinction), but there was a LOT of work to do. Then again, it was a master's degree, so I don't want that to be watered down. -
Think your password is secure?

I've been writing about that for awhile, although I don't necessarily agree that we have to go to biometrics, either.. http://www.neowin.net/news/passwords-are-dead-now-what http://www.govdelivery.com/blog/2012/11/passwords-are-dead-now-what/ -
Anyone ever take an online class?
Fezmid replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I actually received my master's degree from Boston University and found the program was excellent. Like others have said, make sure you do your research first. An online program requires a LOT more dicipline and planning on your part. You probably won't even have to attend lectures -- BU had live lectures, but if you couldn't make them, you could watch them recorded (or not at all...). It's easy to fall behind if you're not careful. That said, a good program can be wonderful, and better than a live classroom in many ways. We had weekly discussion topics (basically a message board where you post your thoughts/ideas and back them up with research -- and reply to posts other students make), so tha tyou remain connected to students. I'm now friends with a few people who I ended up taking a bunch of classes with -- and we went to graduation together this past May. I actually teach at Boston University now too which is pretty cool. If you have any specific questions, let me know or send me a PM. -
Confessions of an NFL replacement referee
Fezmid replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't misinterpret the article -- but I agreed with it 100%. I still maintain that the refs were nowhere near as bad as the media and fans were portraying, and that they actually seemed fair and impartial (aka: when a mistake was made, it wasn't always in favor of a handful of teams). It's opinion for both of us, unless you want to breakdown film of every game the replacements did and compare it to every game the regular refs did. -

Do you actually watch football and see the constant bad calls by the "real" refs? Or because the announcers ignore them, do you choose to do the same? -

Did you read the article? "The replacement officials didn’t have any more incorrect calls than there normally are. If it happens during a regular game, it’s “who cares.” When we were officiating, then it was a different story." -

If everyone wore the leather helmets, I bet defenders would stop leading with their head so much. -

I've read that the league donates it to charity. Although in this case, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a Bob Kraft charity. -

+100000000!! They were lighting a lot of it on fire, on the shore of the Nile, when we were there. Blech. Couldn't even enjoy the history most of the time because you were constantly being harassed. -

If you were in the shadows of the Pyramid at Giza, you'd have dozens of annoying people trying to force you to buy crappy trinkets (and then swearing at you in Arabic when you tell them to leave you alone). Egypt is a hellhole. -

Since when is the defender holding a receiver's arm down considered "marginal?" The only bad call I remember was when our defender hit Hartline in the head before the ball got there, and it wasn't called. So that non-call was "favorable." Otherwise, no, it was fair. -

It's funny when we think fair refereeing is the same as "favorable." The game was called very well overall, unlike games that we're used to against the Pats and others.
