  1. Yeah, there were a few really bad calls. That said, they didn't call PI every other play, so that's an improvement.
  2. That, and the ref calling a terrible penalty on the INT returned for a TD... The Ram was clearly acting...
  3. My wife has a Fire and loves it. In fact, she's upgrading to the larger one (8.9") this month. The advantages to the Fire are that it's much more portable (because it's smaller), it's much cheaper, and it integrates with Amazon perfectly. The downsides are that it's smaller (double edged sword, right?) and doesn't have QUITE as nice a display (although it's still very good). Some people will still point to the fact that iPad has more apps -- but realistically anything you can do on the iPad, you can do on the Fire (or any Android tablet, for that matter). It's all personal preference. And if you want a smaller tablet, the iPad mini is also an option.
  4. Probably not. Although, as discussed in the TV thread, they may be saying "keep them" because they know they legally have no recourse.
  5. We're on the same side of that debate. millbank: I want to go on a photoshoot with him so he can teach me what he knows about photography! (he'll make me do some farming too, which wouldn't be a bad thing to learn. ).
  6. I'd just sit back and watch SDS foam at the mouth about how superior Apple was and how I'm a moron who isn't entitled to his own opinion. Then I'd ask, "Are we done yet?"
  7. That's not what the FTC website says: http://www.ftc.gov/b...s/adv/bus02.pdf Again, the rules are in place to stop companies from sending you something and demanding payment for it (or forcing you to return it at your cost if you don't buy it), and isn't really to cover accidental shipments like this TV incident, and I'm sure Amazon was more than happy to get their product back without charging anything extra.
  8. Because you paid her, and that's what she's supposed to say.
  9. Not sure that this is what you're referring to, but it grates on my nerves when people say, "So-and-so hung himself!" Pictures are hung, people are hanged... If you're talking more pop culture speak - I hate ginormous. (my god, it's even in the spell checker!)
  10. Sweet, I got left out twice!
  11. Legally speaking, if they really did accidentally ship him two televisions, he's under no obligation to send one back; the FTC considers it a "gift." That said, the "moral" thing to do is to send it back. (I had a situation where Dell delayed an order I placed well over 30 days -- then after the order was supposed to be cancelled, they shipped it anyway. I contacted them about sending it back - either refusing shipment or accepting the package and shipping it back -- they told me to accept the package and then call them to discuss restocking fees. The funny part was that they're the ones that provided me the link to FTC regulations that said it was mine if I wanted; I was just trying to do the right thing too.)
  12. You're just not very considerate of other people! He wanted the police to be able to enjoy their holiday and not clean up the mess. You'd call them and ruin their holiday.
  13. That's why I asked the question though -- it seems a lot of people feel like many do in this thread -- "Yeah, he was probably wrong, but I'd never convict him." That's why I think this is such an interesting case.
  14. He didn't sleep on it - it all happened at the same time. The only delay was that he didn't call the police (or more aptly, ask his neighbor to call the police for some reason) until the next day. (not wanting to bother the police on Thanksgiving sounds... odd... though).
  15. Some reports have said that the burglars had robbed him in the past. I don't think it's been confirmed though (only confirmation is that his specific house had been robbed 8 times in the past, although allegedly only one was reported to police).
  16. I'm not sure how much traction this story is receiving outside of Minneosta. Basically two teens (17 and 18 I believe) broke into this guy's house on Thanksgiving. He shot and killed the first one. Then the girl came down, he shot and wounded her - tried taking another shot, but the gun jammed. She laughed at him, so he grabbed a pistol and killed her too. He called the police the next day (because he didn't want to bother them on Thanksgiving........). At first the media was portraying him as a monster and the kids as saints. Look for their pictures in various stories and you'll see something similar to the Trayvon Martin case, where they made Martin look innocent. But now news has been leaking out that the kids are probably responsible for numerous break-ins (cops found $10k worth of guns/drugs in their car from what I read). The girl (maybe both of them) were in and out of rehab. Definitely not good eggs. So the question remains -- murder, self-defense, or somewhere in the middle? Here's a story: http://kstp.com/news/stories/S2845903.shtml?cat=1 And another: http://www.startribune.com/local/181772751.html The first story says that the neighbor called the police, which is technically true, but from other accounts, the "murderer/victim" asked the neighbor to call the police after asking for a lawyer reference. I think that it's an interesting case.
  17. Tell that to the Powerball winners in MO and AZ.
  18. It was a 51 yarder, but your point is valid and something I brought up in the chat room yesterday. The best explanation we could come up with was, "To confuse the opponent."
  19. If we're going to get rid of the PAT, why not make the current 2-pt conversion only worth 1 point?
  20. Ask the Quarians how they feel about creating the Geth.
  21. Everyone else expecting a PI flag on that?
  22. My point is that he had pass-happy quarterbacks throwing to him -- that's going to inflate your stats. Isn't it telling that Reed has only 700 yards less on 150 fewer catches? That's more than 1ypc difference. In addition, Reed had Beebe, Lofton, and Thomas taking away catches from him -- who did Carter have? He WAS other worldly at it. The NFL actually had to CHANGE RULES, based solely on Tasker's play. He was even the MVP of a Pro Bowl, which is crazy considering nobody plays defense in those. So Carter gets in because he ran routes close to the sideline, and Andre was used over the middle instead? Seems like silly logic to me.
  23. Yeah, that was a pretty big story here. One of the radio talk shows actually commented how easy it is for the media to manipulate things -- when the story first broke, everyone was saying the guy should be locked up. Then as more and more evidence came out, people realized it was harmless. Will people remember that the next time? Doubtful.
  24. Without good QBs throwing to him, are you insane? He had Randall Cunnginham, Warren Moon (HOF), Brad Johnson, and Dante Culpepper. While they're not all superstars, they were almost all very pass happy QBs, which is one reason his stats were so good.
