  1. Isn't it smart when taking over a new endeavor to surround yourself with people experienced in said endeavor to assist and tell you where the bodies are buried?
  2. So now you're quoting that religious nut job? "Hey Mitt, the 1980s called. They want their foreign policy back."
  3. I wonder if the Yucks ever play any Dire Straights at the ball yard?
  4. Yankees and Flyers are canning Kate Smith. Quote from article: =============================================================================================================================== For years, baseball's New York Yankees and hockey's Philadelphia Flyers have played singer Kate Smith's famous rendition of "God Bless America" during games. But those long-time traditions have been halted over allegations that other songs performed by Smith -- one of America's biggest singing stars during the early 20th century -- are racist. Smith is closely tied to the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers because she performed "God Bless America" before Flyers games in the 1970s. A year after her 1986 death, the team erected a statue in her honor outside of its arena. Now the team won't play her version of the song during games and will cover up her statue. "We have recently become aware that several songs performed by Kate Smith contain offensive lyrics that do not reflect our values as an organization," the Flyers said in a statement to CNN. Read More "As we continue to look into this serious matter, we are removing Kate Smith's recording of 'God Bless America' from our library and covering up the statue that stands outside of our arena." The Yankees said the team also was no longer playing Smith's iconic 1939 version of the song. It had been a fixture at games since the September 11, 2001, attacks, the team said. It got pulled three games into the season on April 1. =============================================================================================================================== Seems she recorded 2 songs referencing "*****" (not the N word. D word. Rhymes with Sharkies) in 1931. My daughter majored in history and her professor told her class they should not judge people by the past by the standards of today. Of course no one would condone those songs now, but to throw the baby out with the bath water on this one is CRAZY.
  5. It's Yackety Sax by Boots Randolph. Give the man a little cred.
  6. My example was going to be if I decide to shoot my neighbor and climb up on the roof of the building across the street from his work. when he comes out I put my AR15 to my shoulder and aim in and pull the trigger, but <click>, dang, I left my bullets at home. Then I blow off the whole thing and instead decide to challenge him to a bake off. Did I commit a crime? This is why I don't there was collusion with Russia. They didn't need Trump's help and they knew he was too stupid so they knew they would get caught.
  7. Mayor Pete plays piano. I've only been able to find one really short clip of him playing. I propose that he and Condoleezza Rice have a piano off.
  8. I don't have to imagine. I'm old enough to remember when Bill Clinton was nominated. And 2 years ago when that lady with her pants on fire got nominated.
  9. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
  10. OK, Ivanka read it to him while she was sitting on his lap. Better?
  11. So now you only vote for people that voluntarily pay extra taxes? Gonna be a short list. Shoulda said he doesn't pay more taxes because he's smart.
  12. I'll know we picked the right guy when he's standing at midfields with confetti in his hair hoisting our first (of several) Lombardis.
  13. i havs had a good time watching the yellow dog D's and pundits aghast that the smear job accusations have come out of left field with NO EVIDENCE. The nerve of that guy. wolf had guests on and asked them where these allegations came from and they had no clue. I wish he would have had Rhino on. I'm thinking he could have helped them out.
  14. A Carbon Tax has been put on the ballot via citizen's initiative twice in my state (Washington, one of the greenest) but has been voted down twice due to the tax increase. In order to do the New Green Deal, it would require everyone buying in and taking it in the shorts in the interest of future generations. This is why I think it has no chance. You can't get everyone to buy into ANYTHING, mush less something that won't even help them much if any. And then there's the politics involved. @transplantbillsfan - What do you think about using geo engineering to help this? I think this is a direction that has a better chance of success than everyone cutting back on things and paying higher taxes.
  15. It's bidness as usual. They're playing hardball. Past similar cases i can think of include the "Dean Scream" and Thomas Eagleton and Biden's plagiarism. I still wonder if Gary Hart was set up.
  16. Andrew is. He is actually talking about and has a plan for what I see as a threat on the horizon which is jobs being eliminated by automation and AI. I have been listening a little bit. I kindof like him. He seems really smart. I like that he's addressing the problem of AI and automation and the Gig economy reducing jobs and incomes of people holding jobs to be eliminated. Not 100% sure UBI is the answer. I question that if people are given $1000 a month they will use it for productive purposes. It would have a big impact on the economy however. I see this as probably the number one problem for society moving forward. What are people gonna do and how are they going to support themselves? Yet no one except Andrew and Bernie ever talk about it. I also like that he doesn't even talk about Trump. We know, he's a racist/sexist/homophobe/xenophone/LGBTQ hater/Russia conspirator/scumbag. What are you going to do besides investigate? Andrew at least talks about real stuff. Someone else mentioned him and Rogan. I like this one: Automation and AI is coming and is in fact already here and growing. We need a plan. Andrew at least has a plan and it's well thought out.
  17. This is why I miss B-Man. When things would get like this he'd post a few links and change the subject.
  18. worked for the Marlboro man. What could go wrong?
  19. I think it's because the bricks are red. They have a Red Square at the University of Washington as well but I have never seen that one like I have the one at WWU. WWU is a beautiful campus. When I took my daughter there for a visit I decided I wanted to go there.
  20. The videographer is showing his ignorance. I live in Washington state where people smoke a lot of weed and have been around a lot of people smoking weed and I have NEVER in 40+ years see someone react this way after smoking weed. And, my daughter graduated from there! I think they call that area where she is Red Square.
  21. Thanks for posting Gug. Does sound cool. If you go, have fun. I miss the days described in this quote. for me, that's still the case. DRUM MACHINES HAVE NO SOUL !!
  22. mid april is this week. hang on. We're almost there ... I'm looking forward to seeing it as well. I wonder how many people will actually read any of it vs those that will get from their FakeBook feed what hey should think about it. anything more that 140 characters is TL;DR.
