The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
reddogblitz replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I had an idea today to help the election in regards to social media. Build a digital wall. 6 months before the election until the day after, if you are in America you can only get ads/posts/tweets that originated in the contiguous 48 and Alaska and Hawaii. -

Agreed. It was a fugged up system they had. Money talks and BE walks. I just pointed it out because the Ds like to rail on Rs for it. Colonel Bone Spurs Uncle Dick's 5 deferments Rush's (although not a candidate) polyps -

Uncle Joe better hope Viet Nam doesn't come up. He had 5 deferments, just like Uncle Dick. Does this make him Colonel Asthma (as a teenager)? -

True. I see your point. However, the gig economy is growing and still in it's early stages. I just find it very disturbing that our country did IMHO a great thing in the early 20th century acquiring workers rights like a 40 hour work week, paid vacation, sick leave, SS contributions, child labor laws, etc. Now in the name of cool and tech we're ready to toss it all away. True companies will still have employees, but there will be less and less if they can pay less then minimum wage etc. America loves cheap labor. Feels like we're doing it to ourselves this time with all the excitement and empty promises of being an entrepreneur and working your own (longer) hours. -

Not necessarily a union, but minimum wage, SS employer contribution, overtime, sick days, and paid vacation would be nice. -

Decisions like tis probably had something to do with it: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/29/business/economy/gig-economy-workers-contractors.html Unions won us things like federal minimum wage or overtime, or pay a share of Social Security taxes. More money and help for big bidness ... Screw the little person cleaning other peoples houses trying to put food on his/her family. Might need to hustle more contracts and work longer hours. Oh well. CEO pay will be higher. -

All of this stuff is true if Joe Six Pack has a job with a real employer. If he's trying to make it in the "gig economy" he doesn't have any of this stuff cuz he's a private contractor. The tech industry with the "gig economy" is rolling all of these protections gained and fought for by unions and "liberals" in the early 20th century back. Buy your own health insurance. No overtime. No holiday pay. No sick days. Seriously, I hope some liberal will start working on this. -

THIS is where I have been pretty much all along. I don't like Trump. I didn't vote for him. Wouldn't break my heart of us got throwed out, except that would mean Pence. (I wonder if the impeachment people have thought about that?) But this whole investigation/Russia/Russia/tax returns/investigate the investigation is off the rails and is only dividing further a divided country. Bill Maher has even come around somewhat telling Schiff that most Americans thought Mueller was fair and would find out what happened. Continuing to pursue it is starting to look like stalking. My advice to D's is if you do continue to pursue this You better find tapes or a blue dress. Otherwise, find something else to do.

Bills Roster Improvement during McBeane Era
reddogblitz replied to Max Fischer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The DLine was better. WR s were better. QB is yet too be seen. The only thing Wonder Boy has eclipsed Hotrod in so far is rush yards. I hope you: re right but too early to say IMHO. -

A letter to the editor in the Seattle Times this morning had a letter to the editor that flat out said Uncle Joe was the wrong age and the wrong gender to run. Aegism and sexism are OK I guess and a good way to make a decision? -

I heard Elizabeth Warren says something interesting in her speech yesterday. A woman asked her about infant mortality rate falling in the USA. She said society is judged by how it treats it's Mammas and Babies. I literally LOLed out loud. -
This is my biggest problem with the way this Russia thing was handled. it was pretty obvious from the beginning that Russia's strategy was disinformation. Feed a bunch of fake stuff out there and let it become reality and get people all ginned up. Even major news outlets bought it and reported it as true and used it as a source. So what are we going to do about it? Russia has been doing the same thing with good results all over the world. The Brexit vote. The French election. Ukraine? They're coming for us again and no doubt have already started. Yet congress has done nothing to make sure this does not happen again. Getting Trump will do nothing to stop fake Pizza child rape stories and dueling protests that people believe and freak out about. How about hardening up our political parity's computer systems? Have heard nothing of that. How about a public service campaign encouraging people to not believe everything they read on line? Nothing. I have read about upcoming information wars since the 1970s. It has arrived. We're not ready. This is the problem, not Trump IMHO.
