And my confidence for the 3 October Thursday Night Football game on NFL Network just went up by 11%. "Hey Good Lookin'" - Hank Williams

Okay, I've traditionally hated the Cowboys worse than any other team in football, but I have to say that the Pats* have probably surpassed that now, and that's saying a LOT. And the AntiChrist of Kitty AntiChrists is that limp-wristed nancy-boy at quarterback. As I'd said to Rubes a few posts ago, I want Brady to have the Joe Montana treatment. I want that guy pounded into the sandpaper that is used to scrape the pimples off Belicheck's ass.

THAT is an interesting point, and one that bears a little more digging. -
I See No Reason To Temper Enthusiasm
Whites Bay replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just re-read the text thread that I was sharing with my brother in NYC while watching the game. It's clear now (no beer haze with which to contend) that what impressed me the most was the pace of the offense. Two texts that I sent him, back-to-back: "They're on crack". "I mean, they're on crack". That pretty much summed up the onslaught. Say what you will about pre-season blah blah blah, but one fact is pretty hard to refute. The Bills offense came into that game in better shape than the Colts defense. I remember this always having been one of the strong points of the old K-Gun days. The big boys on the O-line had to be in good shape, because part of the goal of the K-Gun was to simply wear down the big boys on the D-line. VERY impressive from a conditioning point of view. -
I was getting a kick out of the homer announcers as well. I could have sworn that they started talking about the weather, and the corn forecast, by the fourth quarter. For all those who say "It's the pre-season, it means nothing" - okay, while true to an extent, would you rather be waking up this morning as a Colts fan?

I can't believe this thread has gone on for four pages and no one has mentioned the use of cell phones in a public restroom. Talk about a public epidemic. It almost never happens at work, but in airports (where I spend WAY too much of my time)? ALL THE FRIGGIN' TIME. Is that call REALLY so important that you want to take/make it while balancing the phone just above the urinal? Or the bowl? Just imagine the microbial load on that phone. Ooogie....

This was not a well thought out plan
Whites Bay replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
It takes all kinds, I guess. Bummer I paid for it. -
Nay! A Grant Burge Holy Trinity! Where's Mead when I need him? And why would I waste a champion Aussie red on Jets camp? "Hey Good Lookin"" - Hank Williams (not Hank Willams Jr.)

Pats/Eagles Report(Die Eagles, Die!)
Whites Bay replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know it's a lot of work for you to put things like this together, OC, but know that I learn more about football from "X and O" breakdowns like this than I'll EVER do by listening to the cement heads on the networks. Thanks. Sincerely. As for the Pats* defense, I can only pray that the Bills' passing game clicks early and often. A few long (20+ yard) completions might cause some headaches for Satan. Especially with the speed in this WR corps. I'm reminded of an awful statement made by the IRA after a failed bombing attempt in the 1980s: "We only need to be lucky once". Say it..Let's say it. They...might...be...beatable...this...year... -
Thanks, gentlemen. I DO have pictures of her throwing snowballs at Pinto Ron's with some of her friends, one of whom is his daughter. Said pictures just won't be posted HERE! Rubes, as for Brady's retirement, I'm hoping it's "retirement" a la Joe Montana. I don't know if you were there that day; I was. The entire defensive front 3 met him in the backfield on a very, very cold day. The turf was concrete. The career doth endeth. Few scenarios could play out better for Marcia. I think you'd agree with that. I, personally, don't want him to retire. I want him to be "retired".

My daughter is moving to Portland. It's a HUGE move from Pinto Ron's to Brady's Backyard. Are there any Bills bars there? I know it's a needle in a haystack, but it's either a bar or the Dish. And try to keep the skeezy comments under control, will you? There will be NO pictures.

Question to all, as I'm blocked from a number of sports sites at work. Does anyone know when the Bills/Colts game for this Sunday will be rebroadcast? Or can anyone give me advice as to how to find out? It's likely that I'll be driving at 1:30 on Sunday, and won't be in front of a TV. Which REALLY sucks, but welcome to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Pettine's favorite flavor is not "vanilla"
Whites Bay replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right! That was 1989. I had season tickets that year. They were so goddamn vanilla, but somehow managed to pull off a playoff berth. But the big shocker was the spanking they gave to Buddy Ryan's Eagles that year in the wildcard game. Ryan - blowhard that he was - confidently predicted a victory over the Giants. But that was the NEXT week. He totally looked past the Rams, and they came at Cunningham with this weird 2-5 look that just messed with his head. I'm going to copy-and-paste from Wikipedia, so as to attribute sources. I wasn't at the game, but watched it in amazement. As did Ryan: "The Eagles offense, led by All-Pro quarterback Randall Cunningham had no answers for a unique zone implemented by Rams defensive coordinator Fritz Shurmer, who at times during the game only rushed two defenders and dropped everything back in coverage. Cunningham, while completing 24 of 40 passes, only threw underneath the zone for the majority of the game and simply was unable to get anything downfield". Don't knock the 2-5. Cunningham was a hell of a QB. It messed him up something awful on a national stage. -
Sullivan on WGR this morning
Whites Bay replied to Ramblin' Rob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So Jerry Sullivan wrote an article that casts apersions upon on Mario Williams. Next week he'll flatulate all over EJ Manuel. The following week I'm guessing Kyle Williams is washed up. I read each and every one, because they're about the Bills. I mentally shrug my shoulders, I think "douche", and get a second cup of coffee. I go to work, usually in surgery, and watch miracles and tears. The sun rises in the east every day. It usually sets in the west. My adoration of the Bills soldiers on through 4 Super Bowl losses and 13 years of frustration. Jerry Sullivan is a pimple on the rump of the elephant of my existence. Onward. By the way, I miss The Dean. That means a lot more to me than some idiot opinion writer. -
49 things people from upstate NY love
Whites Bay replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I travel to Europe a lot. As weird as it sounds, most of the Europeans understand that there is more to NY than NYC, because many of them have been to NYC, and as such they pretty much figure out that the city doesn't go on forever. What drives me around the bend are the Americans who don't get it. I usually tell people that I live in "Northern New York, near the Canadian border. I actually had someone remark "New York is next to Canada?". No lie. -

In depth 2013 Bills assesment
Whites Bay replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he needs his medication dosage monitored more frequently. This having been said, of course I love his final conclusion, as would almost anyone else on this board. Interesting second-to-last point. This team "needs to learn how to finish games". True enough. I wonder how much of that stems from dumb coaching in the fourth quarter on both sides of the ball last year, as well as physical conditioning? Given the little I've seen in Spring Camp(s) this year, it looks like Marrone et al are stressing the fact that the guys are going to be run into the ground, and that they'd better plan to get in shape early and stay that way. -
Much Better Than Expected Receiving Corp.s
Whites Bay replied to Fried Baloney's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First off, welcome to the Wall. Strap yourself in. As I've said in a prior post, I'm still not convinced Stevie Johnson is a bona fide Number One receiver. I'm not taking ANYTHING away from him, particularly given the atrocious QB (and play calling) situation over the last couple of years. The guy deserves a medal for what he's done. But we've all been barking for a legitimate Number Two for ages, and this year the Bills might actually have a solid #2, #3, #4...(keep going...). Johnson might end up at #3 by the time this season ends. This coaching staff has nothing invested in him. It's time to play your heart out, or end up on Special Teams. My mystery player is Rogers. I'm probably buying into the story line, and bathing in Kool Aid. And I would forewarn anyone that the first few games are going to be brutal vis-a-vis the passing attack. But we could actually see the top get taken off a few defenses this year. And I don't mean crap defenses like Toledo or Air Force. You might see the Bills whip Baltimore pretty hard this year. No more Eight-in-the-box crap. "Beautiful Boy" - John Lennon -
How many wins will we have next year. (Poll)
Whites Bay replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Probably the one to which you were invited? Besides, tell me it was a bad game! More importantly, what did it tell you about Geno Smith's performance in the wind and rain of...wait for it...The Meadowlands? -

And how's about you spend a little more time reading and a little less time attacking the viewpoint of someone with whom you disagree? Sounds so...you know..."Germany 1936".. -
