Gus Bradley as DC + Offensive minded HC=Immediate Success
JM57 replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't look now but the Jags defense is 7th in the league in yards allowed per game. The defense was really starting to come together and had a lot of talent. The regression of Blake Bortles and the offense is what sunk that team. I'm on board with Darrell Bevell as HC, let him find an OC and hopefully he is close with Bradley from their time in Seattle together. -
Just spitballing an idea for continuity.

If you think the run D sucks now, you probably don't want to see the return of Pettine. -
The best offensive player in '17 draft, please Bills
JM57 replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't cherry pick, I picked wide receivers from the same conference as Davis. My "draft guys" work for major networks. I believe just the other day it was Daniel Jeremiah from NFLN saying that he has Davis as his #3 WR but wouldn't argue with anyone who has him rated #1. -

Every draft guy and scout I follow on Twitter has Davis as a first round pick. Walter Football is a joke as far as scouting goes, that round 2-3 projection is way off. The competition level has nothing to do with it at WR. Antonio Brown went to Central Michigan. Julian Edelman was a QB at Kent State. Greg Jennings went to Western Michigan and was top WR before injuries did him in -
Salary Cap to increase 10-15 million in 2017

No need to cut PB he's playing on a 3rd round rookie deal, his contract is peanuts -
Pick your next GM HC, and biggest offseason acquisition
JM57 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Charles Clay would cost $13.5 million against the cap to cut next year, vs $9 million to be on the roster. The soonest it's a possibility they cut him is AFTER 2017, and even then its a Mario Williams scenario, he costs $9 million on the roster or off it for 2018 -

1) HC Darrell Bevell, bringing Gus Bradley in as DC after the Jaguars fire him as head coach. 2) Pat Mahomes or Cardale Jones 3) Re-sign Gilmore -
Hire Josh Mcdaniels or Matt Patricia, and hang on to Lynn.

I've been thinking about it and I think my favorite scenario right now would be Darell Bevell as HC and he brings Gus Bradley in as DC if Jacksonville fired him. IMO Bradley has been a bad head coach but is still a very good defensive mind. -

Jim Schwartz as a head coach in Detroit was terrible at game/clock management and had a talented and undisciplined defensive roster that took a lot of stupid backbreaking penalties. Sound familiar? -

There's a difference between one sentence blanket negativity and actual productive discussion. I'm cool with the negativity overall. But help in the discussion too -

I get the negativity overall. I'm 28. I barely even remember the Bills being decent, and I sure as hell don't remember the Super Bowl years. But I'm still here trying to discuss the team because even though they've been mediocre or worse for my entire adult life, I still enjoy them. I just don't understand how posts with a general message like "ah well they suck." help the community in any way. But that's just me being frustrated. -

Week 14: Steelers' Game Preparation - Inactives Announced

So one thing I've noticed, at least in print media, is Big Ben's home/away splits being completely ignored. I did hear Sal Capaccio mention it in his segment on WGR yesterday morning. For those of you who haven't seen or heard of it, since the 2014 season: Roethlisberger at Heinz Field: 15-4 record, 56 TD, 14 INT, 113 QB rating. Roethlisberger everywhere else: 11-9 record, 22 TD, 19 INT, 86 QB rating. That's...striking. I'm trying to locate the yards per game difference as well because if I recall correctly that's also a similar difference, something like 330 at home and 270 on the road. Dude just isn't very good on the road recently. -
Clay inactive for game due to birth of child (updated)
JM57 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You've got to be kidding right? The timing of Charles Clay's wife's pregnancy has nothing to do with whether his contract is or is not guaranteed. Jesus Christ, your opinions in this thread are something else. You don't just snap your fingers and make someone pregnant. For all you know, they could have began trying to conceive to time the birth for the off-season or preseason and that just didn't work out. Life doesn't go on hold because of a football game, just like your 9-to-5 job doesn't stop if you take a sick day. -

AJ Green is great and stated early this season he was absolutely going to miss the game for the birth of his son if it came down to it. On the other hand, Joe Flacco is not great but skipped a birth in 2013 so.... -
Week 13: Raiders' Game Preparation - Inactives Announced

I'd assume we will know soon. Flight time from Buffalo to Oakland direct (as you would assume would be the case via Air Pegula) is approximately 5 hours. -
Week 13: Raiders' Game Preparation - Inactives Announced

That's pretty close to what the Bills need...just hopefully without the chunk plays that allowed Seattle to score 31 points. I just looked back at the stats for that game and the Bills had the ball for 40:17 and only allowed 278 yards. You should NEVER lose a game where you under 300 yards, or where the opposing team has the ball for only 1/3 of the time. But they also gave Seattle 115 penalty yards. Seattle might have been the best game if Tyrod's career thus far, and it might be asking a lot to see it again today. The Bills offense needs to play similar to that with the long, sustained drives, but needs a much better defensive performance. -
Week 13: Raiders' Game Preparation - Inactives Announced
JM57 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills have a good shot in this game if they are able to dictate the tempo with the run game. KC beat Oakland 26-10 in October by holding the ball for almost 37 minutes. They had just over 400 yards of offense: roughly 175 rushing and 225 passing. In other words, they did what the Bills try to do each and every week. As long as they don't dig themselves an early home, this is a winnable game. The Bills strengths matchup well with the Raiders weaknesses. Don't let them turn it into a shootout. Keep their offense off the field, churn it out on offense and wear their already bad defense down. -
Rapoport: Expect off-season trade talks around Brandin Cooks
JM57 replied to JM57's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. WR's were getting bigger and bigger until the Seahawks made a giant CB out of Brandon Browner. It didn't take long for teams to figure out you could beat the brakes off a giant CB with a smaller, shifty, WR with great short area acceleration like Edelman or impeccable footwork like Antonio Brown. -

Cooper and Crabtree are 6'1, 210-215 which is probably around average for an NFL WR but please tell me more about how huge they are. Trust me, I understand you don't want the smurfs running around out there. I get it. I support Sammy Watkins because he is on my favorite team, but three years later I STILL wish they would have stayed put and taken Mike Evans instead. The reason I opened the Cooks conversation up is because the Bills need more than one WR next season. Why? - Woods is their #2, set to be a free agent, has moaned about his lack of targets when Watkins is playing and has comparable stats at this point of his career as Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu, who both got I believe 8+ million a year from Detroit and Atlanta. #10 is testing the market, guaranteed. - Goodwin is their primary vertical threat, is constantly injured, and even though he has sprinter's speed, isn't that good at football if we're being honest. It's a possibility that Listenbee is his replacement but the kid allegedly needs a TON of route running work. - Harvin is probably going to retire again, let's not dance around that. - Hunter has great size and has caught a bunch of TD's in his approximately 6 weeks here, but drops have plagued him since he was a Volunteer. I hope he's a reclamation project, I really do, because I wanted him or Keenan Allen over Woods going into round 2 of the 2013 draft. - Powell is a nice little depth WR. - Tate is best in the return game and we all know that. If Woods and Goodwin walk, the Bills are coming out with Watkins, Harvin (maybe), Powell, Tate and Listenbee without a ton of money to spend on a free agent. Draft picks aren't often instant contributors unless they are #1 picks, and IMO, safety is a much bigger need (and a huge strength of the 2017 class). I'd rather burn a mid-round pick on an instant contributor than a guy who MIGHT contribute down the line. -

The Bills CAN beat the Raiders with or without Charles Clay. The blueprint is there, and in all honesty, it favors the Bills. Kansas City did EXACTLY what the Bills try to do to every opponent against the Raiders in week 6 and it worked like a charm. KC rushed for 183 yards on 37 attempts and passed for 223 yards on 23 attempts while holding the ball for nearly 37 minutes. Oakland scored only 10 points. Granted, there was no Latavius Murray that week, but it can be done with him I'm the lineup as well. A prolific offense can't score if it's not on the field. -

Cooks lines up outside and is a vertical threat. He's Goodwin, but with way more football talent. That being said, yes, he is only 5'10, but that doesn't matter as much outside the numbers.
