  1. But I was told by the posters here that he sucks and has never done anything good
  2. He seems like the dude that would come in, chug a few beers at a BYOB party, take an upper decker in your bathroom and then leave.
  3. Nagy likely does too, he was an intern/on the staff starting in 2008
  4. I'd be surprised if McDermott doesn't want to at least interview one of them. It will be interesting to see what Reid does. As noted, he's pretty good about letting his assistants move around. But in a situation like this with "co-offensive coordinators" who do you let go? The young, untested guy with a possible long career ahead of him (Nagy) or the 60 year old with a wealth of experience (Childress)
  5. Yeezus must be a blast at parties
  6. Par for the course with Sully. It's like he sits down to type and just goes bananas with the first terrible idea to come to his head.
  7. Bill Musgrave was Frazier's OC in Minnesota. Both Childress and Nagy (co-OC for the Chiefs) were with the Eagles with McDermott. Per Sal Capaccio, Duce Staley is the RB coach in Philly but has been rising through the ranks so he could be a possibility as an up-and-comer.
  8. LaCalifornia didn't fact check. McCoy: Carolina Panthers (2000) Offensive assistant Carolina Panthers (2001) Wide receivers coach Carolina Panthers (20022003) Offensive assistant Carolina Panthers (20042005) Quarterbacks coach & offensive assistant Carolina Panthers (2006) Quarterbacks coach Carolina Panthers (20072008) Passing coordinator & quarterbacks coach Denver Broncos (2009) Offensive coordinator & quarterbacks coach Denver Broncos (20102012) Offensive coordinator San Diego Chargers (20132016) Head coach McDermott: Philadelphia Eagles (19992000) Scouting administrative coordinator Philadelphia Eagles (2001) Assistant to head coach Philadelphia Eagles (20022003) Defensive assistant & quality control Philadelphia Eagles (20042006) Assistant defensive backs coach Philadelphia Eagles (2007) Secondary coach Philadelphia Eagles (2008) Linebackers coach Philadelphia Eagles (20092010) Defensive coordinator & secondary coach Carolina Panthers (2011-2016) Defensive coordinator Potential good news on Bill Musgrave if Mike McCoy does go to Denver...Guess who Leslie Frazier's OC in Minnesota was?
  9. Per John Clayton, the connection is their agent. No overlap in Carolina, McCoy went to Denver in 2009, McDermott started there in 2011.
  10. No no don't you see, Frazier coached under Jim Johnson and Tony Dungy but obviously only runs the Tampa 2.
  11. I think Oakland was worried one of the new HCs would poach Todd Downing (now their OC) and decided to let Musgrave walk rather than lose their young OC in waiting.
  12. McCoy still not hired in Denver. Bill Musgrave has an interview with the Broncos tomorrow, until you hear that's been cancelled, assume McCoy still isn't hired.
  13. Coaching trees normally go off the origin of the coaching career though right? Regardless he played for the Bears through 1985, so he's played in the legendary 46 defense, coaches DBs in the Jim Johnson scheme and been a DC/HC running a basic Tampa 2 prior to coming here. I think he's flexible.
  14. 2009 & 2010, yes, then in 2011 McDermott went to Carolina and that's when Castillo was inexplicably moved to Defensive Coordinator.
  15. Negative, he's from the Andy Reid tree. Ron Rivera, McDermott and Frazier were all on the Eagles staff between 1999 and 2002.
  16. Frazier broke into the league as a DB coach in Philly, under Jim Johnson, right when McDermott was breaking in himself as a quality control coach. I'd bet Frazier is just as familiar with the Johnson based concepts that McDermott ran as his own Tampa 2 style.
  17. The league calls it a lateral move, but the coaches know its not. It's definitely frowned upon to not let someone go though for something that's a promotion like position coach to coordinator. Especially in this case where Steve Wilks is going to replace McDermott as DC
  18. John Clayton mentioned on his WGR spot last night that McDermott and McCoy share the same agent and that might hold some sway. He'd be silly to not way all the options and at least see what each team has to offer monetarily first
  19. "Is this thing on? Because its about to be."
  20. Lynn's interviews have nothing to do with the Rooney Rule at this point. For example, the 49ers brought him in last year, decided on Chip Kelly, but brought him back in this year. If he was just a dud Rooney Rule interview, there's a hundred other not white coaches they could have tried this year.
  21. Likely not, I would say, and I'm a big Gilmore fan. McDermott runs a zone heavy 4-3 scheme and Gilmore, IMO, struggles a lot in zone, but is very strong in press man. No need to spend big bucks on a man corner for a zone scheme
  22. Per Josina Anderson, their meeting has continued today. Certainly sounds like Lynn is headed to the west coast.
  23. Injuries do not equal your front office literally letting your top CBs walk away for nothing and replacing them with rookies. That would be like the Bills letting Gilmore, Darby and Robey walk and expecting the pass D to remain stellar
  24. If you don't think playing two rookie corners was a crap hand he was dealt I don't know what to tell you. Even during their Super Bowl run, they had a couple of previously washed up vets at safety and were carried by the front 7 and Norman locking guys down. Then the team let Norman walk, inexplicably cut Bene Benwikere, trotted a couple rookies out there, and hoped like hell it worked and it didn't.
