Bills games broadcasted in Syracuse?
Ned Flanders replied to SAFTB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can get a sense of which games were shown on a weekly basis in Syracuse, or anywhere for that matter, here: http://506sports.com/nfl/index.php Scroll down to the bottom of the page for previous years' archives. -
Favorite TV Show & Movie Theme Music?
Ned Flanders replied to NoHuddleKelly12's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'm old enough to remember this classic NFL on CBS opener: CBS' pregame opener was a classic as well: Buffalo-native Don Criqui narrates both -
Favorite TV Show & Movie Theme Music?
Ned Flanders replied to NoHuddleKelly12's topic in Off the Wall Archives
From the opening theme through the accompanying music throughout the series, nothing beats Victory at Sea. Steve Sabol once remarked he tried to emulate the power of the Victory at Sea soundtrack when he selected music for his NFL Films bits. -
I don't know why they haven't rolled out the AFL-era blues over the last several years...don't know why they've stuck with the white at home the last few seasons. The AFL blues stripping is superior to the faux-back whites, and they represent the true AFL home blues era.

What is everyone paying for a haircut these days?
Ned Flanders replied to SDS's topic in Off the Wall Archives
$18 in Fairfax...been going to the same woman for about 12 years. Usually tip $5. -
I used to go to that every year...but as Yogi says, nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded. Use to be a good crowd of WNY folks hobnobbing over some wings and Cream Ales. Now, it's like Woodstock, where interns from around the country scarf the wings before they even reach the table. I got Kemp to autograph this card at a Washington Buffalo Night, maybe 15 or so years ago. It's in a box in the basement somewhere, I need to dig it up.

should have had that in my list, thanks for the reminder! Maybe if you also count Operation Petticoat! ?

LOL, great analogy!

When I hear "war movie" I think WWII films, of which the following are my favorites, in no particular order: Saving Private Ryan...classic movie, with the first half hour being a cinematic masterpiece The Great Escape...just one of the best movies ever Bridge on the River Kwai...William Holden yelling "Kill Him!!!" near the end one is one of the film's highlights The Longest Day...stellar cast Patton...George C. Scott in his best role..."Rommel you magnificent bastard...I read your book!" A Bridge Too Far...great soundtrack and cast The Dirty Dozen...came to Netflix this month, and I watched it for what my wife claims is the 47th time In Harm's Way...bad special effects, but a compelling story and cast Guns of Navarone...good story, and Gregory Peck in a great role Other honorable mentions: Tora, Tora, Tora; Midway; Inglorious Basterds; Battle of Britain; Is Paris Burning?; Twelve O'Clock High; Memphis Belle; Devil's Brigade; Sands of Iwo Jima; They Were Expendable; PT 109 WWII movies that need never to be seen again: Pearl Harbor; Battle of the Bulge...lots of potential but a horrible film For some reason I can't really explain, I've never seen Das Boot. Hope to see it sometime soon.

Wow, sorry to learn this...RIP.

I remember Bill Polian saying he was running down the hall at OBD screaming with joy when the Bills signed Christie. I believe the fan base was equally as enthused. I don't recall any backlash...at all. Norwood was beloved after SB XXV, but the next season proved his undoing. Remember the Raiders game in LA? Thurman offered to throw him off the plane on the ride back if he missed the game-winning chip shot. By 1991, anything over 40 yards was considered iffy, at best.

Sal Mairano = the new Jerry Sullivan
Ned Flanders replied to Da webster guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sal's two Relentless books are why he'll always get a pass from me. Sure he's critical, the guy spends half the day on the Thruway having to report on a downtrodden franchise, but for a fourth down pass by Andy Dalton, would now be looking at a 19 year drought. And you think he's hard on the Bills, his bitching about the Yankees is even more annoying. For a team with the second best record in the AL last season, and who went to to the ALCS the year before, you'd think he was watching the Orioles. -

“Street” tickets/$7 Seats on StubHub
Ned Flanders replied to 4_kidd_4's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can't tell me the WNY media doesn't troll these boards for stories: https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/football/nfl/bills/2018/11/05/buffalo-bills-ticket-bargain-bad-season/1892052002/ -
Yup, the Bills Super Bowl era can pretty much be summed up in those two paragraphs...sadly...

Does anyone here still watch The Simpsons?
Ned Flanders replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
First dozen or so seasons were appointment TV, haven't seen much since. Although for the last week, FXX was running a Tree House of Horror marathon and those standout as the best episodes. -

Still the best car chase in film history. It was playing last weekend in a few theaters around here but I missed it. -
Bruce Smith Safety in SB 25
Ned Flanders replied to Billsfanatic8989's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills would have been better off if McKeller didn't catch that ball. They only gained six yards but it ate up about 15 seconds. That short gain did not warrant the time it took. -
[Incomplete Title] Seven years ago today already..
Ned Flanders replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup, and being up 41-3 at halftime, the rest of the game was just one big raucous party...pure joy, elation and every other adjective you can think of. The closest WNY has ever gotten to a New Orleans Mardi Gras atmosphere. -
That's the key to the discounts and free items. I'm too invested in Verizon/FIOS to go AT&T. I keep getting the $100/off for ST Max as their very best offer.
