  1. Same here...I was in kindergarten, Catholic school, when they announced it over the loudspeaker. Nuns walking down the hall crying. The weekend, we were all glued to the TV. Some favorite shows of the era: Daniel Boone, Combat, Munsters. Two classics, both with outstanding theme songs.
  2. I was there on a relatively mild New Year's Day. I believe the Bills lost 3 of their last 4 that made them the second seed. If they had home field vs. Cincy the next week, I think this team goes to the Super Bowl.
  3. He was gone after '91. We signed Christie before the '92 season. Remember the great game out in LA during the '91 season? How many FGs/XPs did Norwood miss that game? That pretty much sealed his fate. When Polian was able to sign Christie in '92, he was doing cartwheels down the hall at OBD. A classic Polian pickup, like Kenny Davis and James Loften.
  4. So I called customer retention yesterday. Currently, I get $40 off a month as a standard discount. They could only give me $30 off a month, and $99 off Sunday Ticket Max. I paid $99 TOTAL for ST Max last year. I said "no thanks, not good enough." The rep said to call back closer to when my contract expires, which is August 10th. She said they hate to lose long-term customers such as myself (18 years). So, I'll do the song and dance on the 10th. If I don't get the same discounts, for DTV and ST, it's adios DTV. I've got too many cheaper options, especially since we have Verizon FIOS for internet and phone...they would love to add TV at a discount, we get flyers in the mail every other day. Streaming is an option also, cut the cord all together. I'll surely miss ST, but the price is too outrageous. That's the absolute latest.
  5. This is what came up: "Sorry, your address is not eligible."
  6. There was also a guy who took tremendous camp pictures and posted them here...don't recall seeing him here in several years, but his pictures were amazing.
  7. Checked it out and doesn't look like it's available yet on the DTV site.
  8. Papa's good, but the best Raider PBP guy of all time was Bill King
  9. Spoiler alert: he finishes second place in a duel...
  10. Please, this cat's out of the proverbial bag. The bad-PR is already percolating. What would be worse for the NFL, Shady's lawyer bringing a case against the league or every media outlet in the country playing pictures of the woman's battered face while the person she accuses of being involved is doing jumping jacks at SJF? The bottom line is, Shady, at some point, will be "under investigation," which cuts a very wide swath and can be interpreted liberally by Goddell. Look, I hope Shady's innocent here too, but to pretend that Goodell is handcuffed by "lack of evidence" here is pure fantasy.
  11. We're members of the KC and when tickets went on sale to members, we missed out, but got them when they went on sale to the general public. Very weird.
  12. Immediately thought of them (c'mon open on Sundays will ya!) and of course, Wegmans.
  13. Tried the chat option again and said without the ST discount, I'm seriously looking at Cox, Fios and the myriad of streaming options now available. DTV chat person then gave me a special number (which I assume is customer retention) and a PIN to enter after I call that number. Plan on calling this weekend, so we'll see.
  14. The case remains "under review" by the NFL, and Goodell has issued crazier rulings. I hope I'm wrong, but I think Shady won't be at SJF next week.
  15. Going on this excursion: http://www.jottnew.com/buffalo.html
  16. Of course it is, Ball, but with Goodell, who the hell knows.
  17. Good luck with that...this bunch can't even define a "catch."
  18. I dunno, if nothing changes by the week of training camp, i.e. no suspect caught, I'm thinking he's placed on the exempt list. Just a hunch but I hope I'm wrong.
  19. As a former carrier sailor, those F-18s are music to my ears. Was in Sandbridge earlier this summer and once last August. The F-18s seemed more prevalent last year. We like Sandbridge more than OC, but be aware, there's not as much to do outside the beach. There's a restaurant or two, a couple of ice cream stores, but you're going for just that: getting away from the hustle and bustle of places like OC. Also, it's mostly large seven bedroom-type homes there, that are geared toward multiple family stays. There's a condo place on the water that's quite nice, but you're paying big bucks here too.
  20. We're not going to know that, of course, until the investigation is completed and, if, charges are filed.
  21. It means that if he, in any way, had any part in planning, or knowing of a plan, for anyone to enter the house and take part of what happened there.
  22. But even if that's the case, Shady's toast. He'll be given the Ray Rice retirement plan, even if he has his fingerprints on this loosely.
  23. Just got back from OC last week. We've been going for more than a dozen years now with the kids. Beaches are well maintained and lots of good family restaurants on the bay side. Try Mackey's and Fish Tails, but go before 5:30 or you're waiting a bit. For ice cream, Justine's on the north end is the spot. OCM Crabs is the best place for crabs. As mentioned earlier, a side trip to Assateague to see wild horses is a good diversion, or there's a tacky, but good for kids, amusement park called Jolly Rogers, which you can get a pass to ride all afternoon (thankfully my kids have outgrown that). The Boardwalk is nothing special, we've haven't been in a few years and don't miss it. We're partial to Pino's but have wanted to try Lombardi's...next year for sure.
