  1. meh. I wouldn’t have wanted his attitude on the A’s.
  2. I’ve never understood why they anointed him as starter. All they saw him was in training camp, preseason and a few snaps during the regular season. It didn’t make sense to put their Super Bowl aspirations on him with that limited experience. His injury may have been the best thing for them. Sure they ended up having to start Purdy, but at least he had 4 years in college. So, their QB stable will have 2 guys coming off major injuries. Jimmy G may still be around since their may not be much free agency interest in him with his injury.
  3. Would anyone be surprised at an announcement like this by Morse: “After much consideration with my family, I’ve decided to retire.” His contract demands will also likely go up with another trip to the Pro Bowl.
  4. It may have been long but it was good and thorough. Some people have the attention span of my dog. Squirrel!
  5. I don’t see the Pegulas firing a coach that has taken them to the playoffs in 5 of 6 seasons. They made a bad choice with Rex and a bunch with the Sabres. I don’t believe they would get rid of the one they got right.
  6. Yes, for all that Diggs has done for the Bills, I believe that Minnesota won that trade. Jefferson is already one of the best, if not the best, wide receivers in the game. Minnesota still has him on his rookie contract, while Diggs’ contract takes up a fair chunk of the Bills’ team salary. Diggs is 29, while Jefferson is 23 with many prime years to come. All that being said, we don’t know how much of a difference it would have made for Josh to have had a rookie WR instead of Diggs, and for Jefferson to have been expected to immediately be a WR1 with a young QB versus starting with a veteran QB in Cousins along with a veteran WR in Thielen.
  7. Then the WR coach should be fired. Gabe Davis didn’t take that next step. McKenzie was inconsistent. They then had to bring back Brown and Beasely.
  8. I wondered if their attempts to “help” Dorsey, actually made it worse. Brady, an experienced play caller, was brought in as QB coach, so you had a rookie OC over a veteran. Then, they brought in Mike Shula as a consultant. Could there then have been too man6 opinions and voices for Josh?
  9. Anybody hear/read an explanation why this guy was the sacrificial lamb? I haven’t found any. Did they draw straws and he got the short one?
  10. In my opinion, part of the reason the D-Line underachieves is this mass rotation approach. Even though a player may benefit from less snaps, rotating a bunch of mediocre guys thru is unlikely to be as good as playing your best 4 most of the game. Most of these guys are in their early 20s so they can surely play most of the snaps.
  11. Since Frazier’s contract now ends, they don’t have to do anything but hope he just goes away. After he checks with Beane on the status of a new contract for a few weeks, he might get the message. Then they just announce that they mutually agreed to part ways.
  12. it’s interesting to think back that Cook fumbled on his first regular season touch. He sat for a while after that. He never fumbled again.
  13. It’s simple math. Rush 4 vs 5 blockers, plus, RBs and TEs chipping before going out. Unless you have a Bruce Smith, Nick Bosa, JJ Watt, who can consistently win one-on-one battles and even double teams. Otherwise you need well planned blitzes. Milano gets thru now and then but it seems like when Edmunds does, he gets lost in the blocking. I’d have to say the most effective blitzes in the last few years have been by Taron Johnson from the slot. So, I don’t know that Von Miller was really the unstoppable force for the Bills this season or if he will be going forward. That leaves the 4 vs 5 that hasn’t been very effective.
  14. It’ll be interesting to see what the cap situation is when finalized. Pro Football Focus projects the Bills to be $8M over the cap. Sportac says $16M. I’m sure they’ll try to restructure Allen’s deal by converting salary to signing bonus. Might as well take advantage before the NFL closes that loophole.
  15. Also, look at the YPC. They were very good. Problem was not running enough.
  16. Not likely. This is the same team that did nothing when Gronk piledrove on Tre White.
  17. I don’t see a need to make major changes to management or coaching, other than maybe a philosophy change to the offense and defense. If it’s going to be a passing offense, get O-linemen that are strong at pass protection. As someone else had posted, try to make the offense more balanced. If this requires changing coordinators or position coaches, then consider it. For the defense, I would prefer a more aggressive scheme. I’m sick of seeing receivers open all over the field and the frequency of 3rd and very long conversions by the opponent. Lastly, I now believe what I’ve read today that this team was just spent. All the issues they had to deal with just caught up to them and they were mentally and physically exhausted. Sure, the Bengals may now be a better team, but it wasn’t the only reason for Sunday’s performance.
  18. But the defensive line still wasn’t good enough. They’re also going to need a safety since Poyer will probably leave and we don’t know when or if Hamlin will come back. If Edmunds leaves, you need a LB, unless they’re satisfied with Dodson, Bernard and Spector. CB may be the only defensive position not needing reenforcements, with Tre expected to return closer to his past and the 2 rooks to go with Jackson and Johnson.
  19. It seems like there is no specific defensive game plan for an opponent. You don’t often notice that they had their focus to stop any particular part of an opponent’s offense. It seems the same defense every game and just go out and do your 1/11th. When you had an inexperienced QB like Skylar Thompson for Miami, why didn’t you blitz him more instead of relying on a 4 man rush that doesn’t make a consistent difference.
  20. IIRC they both are direct reports to Pegula. Guys, calm down! Have you already forgotten 17 straight years without playoffs? These guys have taken the Bills to the playoffs in 5 out of 6 years and 4 straight!
  21. And yet the offense is so complicated that rookie wide receivers aren’t expected to contribute much and veteran receivers need time to learn it?
  22. Yeah, the defense and defensive line need coaches in the mold of Carl Mauck. I want to see yelling, red face, veins popping, spit flying. Get these guys playing mean.
  23. Enough with the freakin’ Peter Pan! It’s not funny. It’s stupid!
  24. I was originally going to respond to the OP with ‘’Ditto’ but changed my mind. I also was so disappointed in this game that I was reluctant to come here today, but here I am. As with probably all of you, if this had been a good game but the Bengals just made more big plays, I’d still be disappointed but not as much as I am now. We go thru the year of free agency, the draft, minicamps, preseason with great hopes. The regular season showed some warts but the team still went 13-3. For the season to end this way, it’ll take a while to get over. For some teams with Super Bowl aspirations, a game like this could cause them to go back to the drawing board. I don’t know what this franchise will do. Many of us have been critical of the soft zone defense with some hoping Frazier would get a head coaching job this off-season. With today’s game being the most recent on his resume, I don’t see it happening. So, unless he retires, resigns or Pegula pressures Beane and McD for a fall guy, I don’t see him going anywhere. Bottom line was this team did not look good enough today. Silver lining: this team likely would have really gotten slaughtered in the Super Bowl. Like the OP, time for a break from Bills football, and maybe football altogether. I’ve watched every Super Bowl since V so it could be time to end my streak. Out.
