Nix changing his mind on Gailey?
Dr. Trooth replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
FYI. According to this http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/chan-gailey/ Gailey's contract is for three years and up at the end of the 2012 season. -
Finding a QB - lets think of it this way
Dr. Trooth replied to peterpan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, the evidence I'm looking at over the past several years, and certainly the past 3 off seasons is, you have Spiller, Dareus, and Gilmore via the top draft pix. Glenn, Hairston, Graham, Aaron Williams , Rodgers, Carrington, Moats, Bradham, White, Brooks, Troup, Sanders. And, additionally the Bills have added waiver acquisitons, trade, or free agents like Jones, Thigpen, Nelson, Pears, Martin, Urbick, Rinehard, Mario, Anderson, Tarvaris, Merriman, Young, Dickerson, Chandler. That's your core folks. Well, Buddy and Chan took over this team three years ago when it was 6 - 10, told us how much better the talent is, and have never produced a season with more than 6 wins. Their predecessors, except for one season in the past 13 have never delivered more than a single winning season (9-7) and not a single playoff appearance. Sensing a trend here? Look at the top of the organization folks. As long as Ralph is at the top of the chain you're not going to see .500, let alone playoffs. That is by design. Ralph knows he is a lot closer than many of us to a meeting with his maker. Winning aint even on his list of things to do. His primary agenda is settting the table for his survivors. He doesn't care who runs the show as long as it is done within the paramteres he has set forth. And, the bottom line is not "W"s, it is .... profit, cash flow. And he accomplishes that on your back, fans. Continue to support the Ralph Wilson circus and you are rewarding him for failure. Yeah, you are tacitally giving approval of failure. Yeah... everyone will get ther wish that at least Chan is gone, maybe Buddy too. But then what? Ralph serves up the same ole s#it sandwich and in the coming weeks/months Ralph's lemming, Russ will serve up a fresh batch of something, pass it of as good ole Bills lemonade, and then after a few sips you realize it's the same ole piss you've been drinking for the past 13 years. Folks, by now you know the drill... or should. Something has to give. If you buy tickets or provide any financial assitance to the Bills organization, you have a choice... quit giving your money up or shut your pie hole. By giving up your money you're OK with the Bills M.O. By bitching and complaining while not giving up your money you are doing the right thing in providing incentive for the Bills organization to not be run like circus. Consider me in that latter category. -
He may have the arm and legs to play qb, but he aint got the gray matter to be a qb in this league. See Vince Young.

Who throws the ball to them? Do the Bills have a QB? -
Does Nix have any clue what he is doing? going after QB
Dr. Trooth replied to Bronc24's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On the plus side, it's great to draft a QB. There is a down side, and it is a huge one.... Chan Gailey. He's never developed one damn QB that was worth a crap. Oh, he takes backups and turns them into starters, but they never are any better than when they were backups. They just get more snaps. And, before anyone takes issue with that. Kordell Stewart never reached a 83 QB rating as a starter. Jay Fiedler had a career best 85.2 QB rating in one season. Fitz is on pace to have his banner season at 85.8. If your QB don't hit at least 94-95, you better have one hell of a defense (which the Bills do not). OK , draft a QB and then contaminate him with Chan. Buddy better do a whole lot of thinking.... and he might want to remember a couple of the Bills more recent failures in Todd Collins, Trent Edwards and JP Losman. Buddy better have a good plan if he's gonna draft a QB He better be strong as hell both physically and mentally, cuz he's gonna get hit.... a lot. -
Well, Jerry Jones made a comment about Chan. Jerry said "Firing Chan after two years as HC was one of the worst decsions I ever made". If you translate that, what Jerry means is, he should have fired his ass after one season. Also, Aikman was not very complimentary of Chan... he did not care for his offense or play calling.

If Pittsburgh Beats Dallas we're done
Dr. Trooth replied to DisplacedBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mail it in then. We're done. -
I certainly agree. When the season is over, what changes are forthcoming? I thought Buddy fetched Gailey to bring in. If Buddy and Chan ain't in lock step with each other, then what went wrong? It would seem reasonable to believe that one or the other has to go. I don't think Gailey has any prior relationship with Ralph, but Buddy does. So, it would seem Gailey's the one to go. But then Ralph would be on the hook for another $5M or so that he's got to pay Gailey for doing nothing and sign on a new lackey for the same money. I don't see Ralph doing that. Perhaps if one gets canned, so does the other... unless Buddy can sell Ralph otherwise. I don't know what's gonna happen... maybe Buddy serves up an ultimatum on Gailey to get a new OC, maybe not. But, I think at this time next year Gailey is a gonner... no way can he coach this team to the playoffs.

Wide receivers? Hmmm. Who is throwing to them?

From My pespective, Buddy says he's acquired talent through the draft and free agency over the past three offseasons. OK., when Buddy took over, he inherited a 6-10 team. In the first year of his rebuild, the team takes a backward step to 4-10, and 0 division wins. In year two of Buddy's makeover, Buddy goes 6-10, a step forward from the previous season, but right where the Bills were when he took over, and 1 division win. In the third year of Buddy's rebuild the team has only one win in the division and the best Buddy can hope to finish with is an 8-8 record. Let's spilit the difference and say the Bills end up with a 7-9 record. And, even if the Bills were to go 8-8, that is an average of 6 wiins per season with Buddy as GM and his rebuild. Buddy constantly stands by Chan and publicly states he's not in favor of canning Chan. He also stands behind his QB, when we all know Fitz is barely adequate and doesn't have the arm or accuracy to throw the ball downfield. So, something has got to give. Question to Buddy.... you've stated you've made significant progress in upgrading the talent of this team. So, why is this team's record, essentially, no better than when you took over. Either you made a huge gaffe in judging talent or thyou made a huge gaffe in bringing Chan home to Ralph to sign up as HC.... or, perhaps you made a huge gaffe in both talent and selection of a HC. Which is it? Buddy's got a make a choice. Either he has to stand by his statement that he's got better talent, or he has to admit the coach is not a good fit. If he admits the latter, then he's got a find a new HC. And, we all know that the entire staff ain't gonna get canned. The most likely option is to promote Wanny... which would certainly ensure the Bills having the top pick in the 2014 draft, as well as a reduction in about 20,000 season tickets. However, Buddy may have another option to weasel out of this situation.... he could convince/demand Chan to put 100% of his focus on HC and go with two new coordinators on offense & defense. Or, at the very least, OC. Let's say Chan brings in a new OC (and Modkins is sacrificed). With Chan going into the last year of his contract, what OC (or DC) is going to sign on for one season of this Buffalo Bills train wreck of a team? Not very good ones, that's for sure. And, as far as FA, who would want to come to Buffalo. As far as the Bills own soon to be free agents, Byrd and Levitre, why would they want to be here? More money will be the primary motivator for them. I don't see how the Bills can keep both. One or the other has to go. So, OC, DC, HC.... of those three options HC has to be the change.... and the new head coach can't be anyone on the staff.... He's going to have to be a guy that is experienced, that is aggressive, and wants his team playing ultra physical til the gun sounds. I just don't see a happy ending here... please... convince me, within the realm of "reality" that this team is going to win at least 10 games next year and be a huge factor in the division. Right now, I just don't see it.

I'll agree on 2,3,6,7 & 8. But 1,4 & 5 are exactly the type of player that Belichick loves. He just wouldn't pay that kind of money. And, I'll bet 1,4,5 would love to play for Belichick and would gladly take a pay cut to do so.

Pro Football Weekly names Ryan Nassib 1st team All American QB. It surprised me. Nassib is a good gb that has gotten better each year. He does have strong arm and accuracy has gotten better. He's probably the strongest of any QB in the 2013 draft. But, I did not expect this award from PFW.

Nick Saban may want back in NFL
Dr. Trooth replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nick Saban saying he wants to get back into the NFL is code for "Alabama, I want a hefty raise". There is no owner in his right mind that would even give Saban a sniff after the Miami fiasco (see Bobby Petrino). He'd want almost total control. Bill Belichick doesn't even have that kind of control. Nick Saban aint no Belichick. Not even in the same league with Belichick. -
OK, whos' gonna develop this QB? Chan? What QB has Chan Gailey ever developed? Feidler and Fitz had considerable time in the NFL before Chan turned them into the same thing as they were... they just got more snaps but never even got close to mediocrity. Perhaps the reason Buddy is gonna draft a developmental QB (probably in the 4th round) is to get us fans off his back. Then, when this 4th round project he drafts sucks and never develops, no one is gonna B word much. On the other hand, Buddy knows full well if he drafts a 1st rounder he will be excoriated when the kid flops. The bottom line is Chan absolutely cannot, nor has he ever, developed any QB into anything. Both of those aforementioned QBs were competent backups before Chan transformed them into incompetent starters. I dare say if the Bills had the chance to draft Andrew Luck with the 1st pick, he would have sucked bigtime and never developed under Chan. The sad thing is Chan won't be canned anytime soon. No coach or GM worth a crap has any desire to work for Ralph. The Bills job has to be in the bottom 5 of any sport.

Every time Chan opens his mouth the more fecal matter dribbles out. He must have a blockage on the other end. I agree, the dude is spewing out stuff that is border line incoherent.

Marcus Easley should be evaluated
Dr. Trooth replied to Donald Duck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can you truly evaluate a WR when a weenie armed innacurrate QB is pitching to them? I'm 100% certain Easley can run a 5 yard slant. And, why would Gailey care if he can run a 20 yard out or a post or a deep route? Fitz can't throw them. -
From BuffaloBills.com http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2012/12/10/2012-attack-had-shift-in-philosophy/ The 2013 season ticket drive (AKA Koolaid Fest) is underway at OBD.

Is Stevie Johnson Playing Scared?
Dr. Trooth replied to BuffBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Me too. This team has clearly demonstrated it can go 6-10 with em or without em. Easier schedule than last year and throwing money yielded, essentially, the same result. Seeing a trend here? -
