  1. All stifts Well You know as well as I that good teams rarely let good O-linemen hit FA
  2. Thanks for pointing that out. Good call
  3. I tried to edit my post but was denied. Never happened before but I am now using my laptop. So a C&P will work Anyhoo here is what I wanted to add: And I should add that it takes time for linemen to develope. So its to be expected that a player like Troup will have his ups and downs. Three years to judge linemen.
  4. Spot On ! linemen be it defensive or offensive take time to develope and you are correct it even took Bruce Smith a few seasons to become the Pro bowl DE that he eventually became. Smith worked his rear off to lose weight and gain strength.
  5. Ya but the next game: Torell Troup (-0.8) didn’t back up his best game of the season from his last game against Pittsburgh, returning to mediocre performances. …
  6. IM not holding my breath on any trades. IMHO I think Nix will let the draft come to him. Nix values draft picks like gold and no way in hades will he trade any away.
  7. Happy Birthday my friend. May you be blessed with many, many more.
  8. K-9, on 06 January 2011 - 11:00 PM, said: You're absolutely correct that KW isn't the prototypical 2-gap 34 NT and that's why he played a 1-gap NT technique. No problem there as many teams do this. Ratliff in Dallas is a good example. When you have players like KW you let him exploit his gap-penetrating abilities but you better have DEs that are stout 2-gappers that can set an edge and, most importantly, have LBs who can fill a hole when Williams commits. I put most of the blame on Edwards for not realizing he didn't have the talent at LB and DE much sooner than he did. It's not our LBs and DE's fault that they don't have much talent. We need players. GO BILLS!!! Yes we do starting at LB but wouldn't be surprised if the Bills took a DE with their first pick Good post. You nailed it.
  9. The Sporting News has us taking Anthony Castonzo T Boston College. Bowers #1 Fairley #2
  10. Yep same here; this team isn't going anywhere if they can't stop the run and apply some semblance of pressure on the QB. In fact this D-line brings back memories of the stiffs the Bills had pre Bruce Smith
  11. We shall see. Big time arm no doubt but I keep thinking this kid is Bledsoe lite...real lite. His accuracy went out the window with a pass rush pressuring him. I also did not see much if any escapability or roll-out ability to avoid a sack. Behind this Bills offensive line he would look even worse. No way in hades will Nix have this kid rated high enough for the 3rd overall pick.
  12. You and everyone else please, please stop with this Brady BS. Name one other 6th round QB that even won a playoff game in the last 20 years? I will not be just satisfied to get to the playoffs. I want the Bills to win them !!! Not saying the Bills should go QB in the first round this year as Luck will be off the board but at some point soon they are going to have to shoot for the moon and draft a QB with their first pick. First round busts my ass; how have all those second round QB's the Bills have drafted turned out !!!
  13. It was, many many times. Happens every year then the kid flops and all you hear is crickets. Hardly no one ever owns up when a player stinks up the joint no matter the position. Once the crusade is over the loudest crusaders go turtle. And IM not implying that either Clausen or Tebow are busts but the NFL landscape is littered with quarterbacks that "just won" in college. Come to think of it, didn't we just have a QB fitting that bill just play QB for Buffalo this last game ?? How did that work out ???
  14. Oh he'll be there a #3 and Nix will rightly pass. Buddy Nix will not reach, especially with his first pick. I remember Buddy Nix telling us at the pre-draft breakfast the he had only one offensive limeman rated high enough if he did fall to their draft slot. I knew then that Brian Bulaga (who I liked at the time) would not be the pick. The Bills stuck to their board and drafted Spiller because he was the highest rated player on their draft board. I didn't like the pick then and still don't but Nix as a former scout is not going to toss all the work his scouts do leading up to the draft out the proverbial window
  15. Thought so also if your "smarmy" means the same thing as my "smarmy" As far as one from the NFLPA, IM not holding my breath. The NFL has not only the bully pulpit but the e-mail list of all season ticket holders. Not a chance in hades they let the NFLPA have a sniff of that list.
  16. Well You know the sky is always falling for some around here
  17. Draft value chart: http://www.nfldraft101.com/draft/articles/214/Updating_the_NFL_Draft_Trade_Chart_for_2009.jsp If the Bills had the 4th overall pick it would take their 1st & second to move up to the top spot. Never happen though as Buddy Nix covets draft choices as if they were gold
  18. Drop in the bucket 3 minutes work: http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2010/12/29/brett-favres-penalty-three-minutes-pay-happy-retirement/#cntnt We've been waiting all year to see if Goodell would have the nerve to hammer away at Favre. But the closer we got to the end of the season, the more it appeared that the plan was to let Favre end his brilliant career before justice. "My client and I are extremely disappointed, but not surprised, at today's NFL announcement ..." Sterger's lawyer, Joseph Conway, said in a statement. "While I am not privy to how Mr. Goodell reached such a finding, we strongly disagree with his conclusion that there was insufficient evidence to support a violation of the policy. "To the contrary, our evidence and the personal testimony of Ms. Sterger clearly showed a pattern of lewd and offensive behavior by Mr. Favre that lasted all of the 2008 season ... "In addition to the offensive messages, there was ample evidence to show that the sexually explicit photographs were part of Favre's inappropriate behavior. Our evidence clearly showed that the photos were sent by Favre." I've always liked Favre as a QB but what he did is reprehensible and IMHO gives the NFL a black eye for the way they handled Favre's sexting Good 'ol boys league indeed and just lays out the blueprint for future jackasses to abuse women with no fear of any repercussions and here: "Favre didn't cooperate and, as a result, was fined three minutes. Who is in charge here? Goodell has also set out a great defense plan for players being investigated in the future: Don't cooperate."
  19. http://www.gadling.com/2010/12/17/the-10-snowiest-cities-in-america-bundle-up/ and I had read somewhere a while back that we have more days of sunshine here in WNY than some parts of Florida
  20. Well thanks to TSA Your Hoilday now we can all know Here: http://tsayourholiday.com/index.html
  21. Thanks Jack, you beat me to it. Glad I read thru all the posts. This has been the policy for quite a while. I know the Bills went with paid attendence when I started working for them in the early 80's. Someone mentioned Ralph Wilson donating tickets. Just to let people here know; Mr. Wilson donates quite a few tickets for every game for those not fortunate to able to afford tickets on their own. All over the stadium..Club seats, sideline, etc. Many current and former players also donate tickets...disadvantaged kids, disabled vets from the VA here in Buffalo, halfway houses and Boys & Gilrs Clubs. None of them want press for their good deeds. They are good guys with many players having come from similar backgrounds to the kids they help today.
  22. Was at the game like always. Even 40% might be generous. No way in Hades was there 50 thousand fans at the game unless the whole lower bowl sideline seats on the Bills side were full (IM in the Paul McGuire club so can't see the seats below). The Jim Kelly club section might have had 200 fans max. The far uppper deck maybe had a thou...maybe less. Drove right in today no wait. Parking lots had plenty of parking; in fact don't remember them being as empty for a regular season game in many moons Maybe the Bills front office stole a page from the Rigas way of counting fans. Ater attending a Sabres game many years ago that was about 2/3 full, the announced attendence in the paper the next day was the same as every previous game 16,433..a sellout.
  23. Well just a guess but there's probably still 28-30 inches of snow left in the back yard out of the 40 inches we had a week ago here in Lancaster. Funny thing is I had to run out to RWS this past week and Orchard Park had a lot less snow than what we got. Predicting where the lake effect snow bands will dump the most snow is more often than not, a case of futility.
  24. I think this is just a great thing these former NFL players do for our troops. Especially during the holiday season. I remember the loneliness, the first year I served so many miles away from home at Christmastime. I hope this game brings "home" a little closer to these guys and gals of our Armed Forces if only for a brief moment. http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/2010/12/02/the-greatest-bowl-game-youll-never-see/?icid=main%7Cverizon%7Cdl5%7Csec1_lnk3%7C188632 "Former Buffalo Bills and Miami Hurricanes quarterback Jim Kelly says that part of his motivation for wanting to play in the 2010 game is his family's history with the armed forces. His father was in the Navy and his uncles served in the Army." "When I see a military guy in the airport or wherever, I go up and thank them," Kelly said. "I understand that we would not have the country we have today if it wasn't for people going over and defending us." and this: "Players like Peete and Kelly understand that going overseas without any information as to where they'll be going or how long they'll stay there is a necessary part of the experience, but Kelly's daughters and wife, while proud of his participation, have expressed some anxiety over him traveling under such vague auspices." "My wife's a little concerned, but she's also very excited," he said. He has assured them that the bases are incredibly secure and he'll be safe. Peete's wife, who has served on the CNN Heroes Blue Ribbon Panel and is active in several charities, had no such qualms. "You've got to run everything by the wife," Peete said, "but she was the first one to say, 'You've got to go. You've got to do this.' There are some people over there putting their lives in harm's way on a daily basis. An opportunity to go over there and say thank you first hand and look them in the eye is the least I can do."
  25. Maybe that's what Gailey meant when he said he learned something about his team today...that Bell just cannot get the job done by himself. I haven't been impressed with Bell's footwork when I have had the binoc's on him. Lunges and bites all too often on inside moves, over and over and cannot recover in time.
