Amazon To Pay No Federal Taxes in 2019
keepthefaith replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It's a fair question as to what specifically are the offsets (deductions) that reduce their obligation. Another fair question would by why any media reporting on this wouldn't do a bit of research first and also report the answer to the obvious question rather than simply parroting a critical Bernie Sanders statement. Says a lot about Bernie, the media and many others that have weighed in with lazy and biased reporting and rhetoric. -
What is better, no guns, or more guns?
keepthefaith replied to Security's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yes but no need to have an intern in there during termination of someone. IMO you just don't do that out of respect for the employee being fired. I'm not defending the shooter in the least, just disagree with any company that invites spectators to a termination that don't need to be there and in this case the intern is a total stranger. -

I do question an HR manager that brings an intern into a termination meeting. Sure the newbies need to learn and gain experience but IMO you don't have somebody in the room who isn't somehow engaged in that act. You want a witness in the room - fine but have it be the person's supervisor or another relevant individual and nobody else. -

A gun was purchased legally but permit was later revoked. Shooter went to work that day likely expecting to be fired and brought gun to work. One victim was 21 year old intern, his first day on job. https://www.foxnews.com/us/aurora-shooter-opened-fire-at-termination-meeting-one-victim-was-hr-intern-on-first-day -
POLL: Can you drive a manual transmission?
keepthefaith replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I owned a Plymouth Champ in the mid 80's. Very small car and it had a 2nd manual gear lever to change the axle ratio. On 0-60 runs you could open your hand and in a single quick motion move both levers to go from 2nd-high to 3rd-low. Quick and very good handling car. It was a blast. -

Flutie Flakes. It's the only box of cereal I have never opened. -

More evidence of white male privilege? My sons and wife do. I gave my daughter a lesson in our then stick Honda Accord when she was 16. We got about 10 minutes into the lesson in the neighborhood. She was doing OK, pretty typical for a first timer, but she was getting frustrated. She turned the car for home, pulled into the driveway, got out and yelled at me something like "I'm never doing this again" and "why can't we be a normal family and own automatic cars?". -

I started racing motocross at age 10 and have owned a manual transmission car (a whole bunch of them) every year of my life since getting a license (late 50's now). -

Oh good lord she is Obama. No facts, just words with little tangible meaning. -

That's a good buy and sorry your other one got wrecked. I have to admit, and I've taken a lot of heat for this, I ordered the Bullitt in Black. It's beautiful in that color and they way I optioned it there will likely be fewer than 10 built in the same configuration. One of my sons is an engineer at Ford in Dearborn. Didn't buy it to be a collector car but some day that rarity will matter and I plan to keep it well into the self-driving electro-pod people mover era. Maybe we need a car thread down here. The auto industry is in a real transition now and the combination of market forces, technology and government regulation will make the next decade of cars fun to watch. Maybe I'll start a thread related to this over the weekend. -

Or the next chapter starring Stormy Daniels. That's been dormant for a while. -

So it's being reported that Amazon is paying no corporate tax for the 2018 tax year after posting $11B in profit. Does anyone know what tax laws and what offsets reduce their tax liability to zero? The articles read don't have details. -
Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread
keepthefaith replied to snafu's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Well, it seems to me that the performance of Dems in recent weeks and the positions taken by the early candidates will have something to do with Biden coming out of hibernation. Joe should retire, but the rest are making it easy for him to re-engage politically. -
The Trump Shutdown

That would be sexist and racist if Trump said it. Roughly 64 inches or 163cm in height, but you are probably looking for other info. -

Most beautiful woman I've ever seen was a Hungarian woman in a Toronto men's establishment (client's idea, at least that's my story). She wasn't clothed which helped but drop dead gorgeous, every inch. -

Yes. So Amazon requests proposals from various states/municipalities for a package of incentives to locate there, they all respond with lucrative offers, Amazon makes a selection, and AOC rails against it citing corporate greed. It was only a matter of time before she lit herself on fire, but she'll get plenty of cover from the MSM. -

Drive all the variations and see what you like. If the V8 runs on 87 octane fuel that's a plus as I think the turbos require or recommend premium. Tell them AOC sent you! -

It's an old movie and a character from a movie which inspired a limited production Mustang. Shot in of all places San Francisco. I'm happy to say that I very recently placed an order for a 2019 Mustang Bullitt with 480 wolf in sheep's clothing noise making gas guzzling horsepower. Will have it in a month. AOC and her ilk inspired me to do it and she'll have to cut my dead hand off the shift knob. Ain't no mid-life crisis. The Trump Shutdown

Where are you getting that? Trump has openly said several times that he would like to do a grand deal and has offered citizenship for dreamers in exchange for border security. Dems have not taken him up on it.
