Agree about the girl, and odds are the Bills will have fewer injuries this season. It's some other teams' turn to be injury depleted.

Defense needs to turn back to the way it was

Really? I live in Chicago and watched the whole Jauron era. Can't recall any run of great defenses during his time. Flash in the pan for 1 season maybe. Anything sustained, no. -
Maybe. Doesn't matter what the jags think. What only matters is if Stroud makes the Bills a better team.

I don't recall the '99 team playing the chicken shyt let's not rush too many players and let's drop everyone else into coverage style defense that Dickie has crafted. -
If Peters doesn't show
keepthefaith replied to Not the real Gale Gilbert's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well of course any team that really needs a good left tackle would like to sign him, but those teams don't already have him under a contract, do they. It would seem very reasonable to me for the Bills to want Peters to play another year to substantiate that he can be a pro bowl caliber player longer term and to also demonstrate that he can remain healthy. Assuming he does that he would also demonstrate that he's a team guy. Right now it's fair to question his commitment, his health and his ability to sustain pro bowl level play. He's not doing any of those things now. The holdout tactic is fundementally wrong and is a breach of his contract. It's no different than than the Bills deciding mid-season to pay a particular player less than his contracted amount if they aren't happy with his play. That would be a serious breach of contract just as a holdout is. Contracts usually get renegotiated when if benefits both parties. A benefit the Bills would get from a new deal would be to lock up Peters longer term. That would come at a very high price, one that they may not be willing to pay until they see Peters perform at a high level for just a bit longer. Peters on the other hand can increase his value with another good year. I wouldn't call Peters and his agents "peckerheads". Jackasses seems more appropriate to me. -
I'll say this. I stood at field level a few years ago for about a half of a Bears pre-season game and was really surprised at how difficult it looked for the QBs to operate against the defense. The defensive (and offensive) players are huge, fast and intense. It looked incredibly difficult to play that position and yes, you've got no time to make a decision or try to avoid a rusher. Looked much more difficult than on TV. People in Chicago talk about Rex Grossman being just too short to play effectively. He's only 6-foot. I believe it after what I saw on that day. Flutie did better because he simply played the position differently than any other QB. Heck, JP at 6-2 might be too short also. Offensive lineman have also gotten taller over the years and the guys rushing the passer are really quick.

Other potential clients should recognize that parker's negotiating skills are lacking if the holdout is his best tactic. Like all professions, there is a bell curve of talent. There are crappy agents just like there are crappy dishwashers.

Dumba$$? You're being kind.

All the teams should adopt a firmer stance IMO. Let's see what the next round of negotiations with the players union yields. The owners overall have done a terrible job of negotiating their end of the deal in the past IMO. Rookie money ( for high draft choices) has to go down and players need to honor their contracts or not sign them in the first place. Where else can somebody sign a contract, breach it with virtually no downside?

I agree. Don't forget the agent. He sucks too. The Bills are playing this right. Let him sit and rot. You don't hold out coming off an injury with 3 years to go on your deal after making your first pro-bowl. You want big bucks? Back it up. Prove that you can continue to play at that level and that you're healthy and durable. Once you've done that, come talk to us.

The coaches have made up their minds. Trent is the starter. He played well enough last week to support that decision. If he struggles A LOT in the regular season, maybe the coaches go to JP for a bit. I do expect JP to be an effective starter in the NFL before his career is over.
-
That would look like a fair deal for both sides. Until then the guy has zero leverage.
-
He needs to play. Hopefully he can go this week, otherwise you would think the coaches would want to give him work in game 4. Based on how the Bills as a team have started each of the past 2 seasons, I would hope the coaches this year would throw the conventional wisdom of little playing time for starters in game 4 out the window. They all need to play to be ready for the opener. A lot of young or newer players on this team. Let 'em play!

Willis is beginning to remind me of Mike Williams.

I'd like to see some of the Jauron bashers around here

Show me. I don't care what he says. -
Peters has zero leverage as long as the Bills don't blink.
-
Jauron might be smarter than every coach in the NFL. Whether or not he can lead a team to a win or two in the playoffs is the question.
-
Well, who cares what some PR department thinks. I'm not defending Greggy, but football is not about being nice. Give me a prickly coach if he can win. Greg is a prickly coach that didn't win.

The Ralph is still a good stadium. Might be better to provide a very favorable lease to the team (to help cover any revenue loss due to lack of suite revenue) rather than build a new one. If a new stadium is built, name it after the highest bidder.
-
Exactly. Peters is out ot lunch here. He's outperformed his contract for 1 year. Only 1 year. Players that become pro-bowlers often look to be underpaid and overpaid during different points of their careers. It's not a perfect system. Peters could choose to wait until he's a free agent to cash in on the big bucks (if he continues to play at a high level) or he can try to get something done now for longer term with the Bills. Frankly, he'd be in a better bargaining position in a year if he can play at a pro-bowl level again this year.
-
Exactly. Otherwise you invite more holdouts. Stay firm, Bills.

My challenge to Edwards tonight

Good to see more playing time by the first offense and Trent answered the bell! -
Derek Schouman main cog in offense

Cog is fine, but this offense needs some big wheels. -
