Poll ranks Edwards above Brady

Kind of a feminine Gomer Pyle. -

Jordan sucked? In 2 season with the Wizards he averaged over 21PPG. Certainly not the kind of numbers he put up earlier in his career but pretty darned good. The Wizards weren't very good as a team but he certainly made them better. Favre would make many teams better as well IMO. -

Well, none of us has any idea if Trent will "take the next step" or not. I don't think coach Jauron would have the slightest idea what to do with Brett Favre. With a different head coach I'd love to see Favre in a Bills uniform. He would not only make Trent better, he'd make the whole team better. Especially the wide receivers. He had a carousel of receivers throughout his career in Green Bay and put up great numbers consistently whoever they put on the field with him. Trent could still learn a ton from him even with the contrast in styles. Look at the year he had last year. He's got plenty left in the tank and new surroundings would motivate him even more. Whoever signs him will get a lot of benefit IMO. -
Williams looks like a good player in the making. His jersey price will only go up.

Edwards/ Losman things of note

Makes sense. It does get cold in Buffalo later in the year. -

I don't agree with the results. Marc Bulger should be ahead of Trent. Trent has some new muscles this year so I would expect him to be viewed as more manly now. This poll should be done again halfway through the season. -
My only concern is if Jauron can drive the new Ferrari
keepthefaith replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To me, going for it on 4th down from time to time does not make up for being very vanilla on 1st, 2nd and 3rd down. No audibles, rarely a play action pass and having your QB use the "check down" choice in the passing game so often make it easy for the defense that is trying to stop you. While Jauron is conservative offensively, the greater problem might be lack of sophistication in the game plan which gives the advantage to the defense. There is nothing more relaxing on a Sunday than watching your team successfully run the ball down the throat of the opponent, but when the other team knows you're going to run an offense that only utilizes a small area of the field, you are giving them the advantage. -

If he drives a Taurus, it's one that he bought used from Ralph. Seriously, we can all cast an opinion about what is Jauron's offensive approach or how hands on he is or isn't with his coordinators. The bottom line is the bottom line and that is winning football games and the Bills have to score more on offense and prevent opposing offenses from scoring as much. This year is a great opportunity for this team and this organization to make a positive step in the right direction. It starts and ends with leadership, so the whole crew from Brandon on down has a lot to prove. 52,000 season ticket sales says the fans are encouraged. We've got 6 weeks until we see a finished product. Jauron may make or break his coaching career this year. Hope he's ready. These jobs are hard to get and harder to keep and the Buffalo faithful are a bit restless. -
Lynch will not be suspended..

Good to see he won't be disciplined by the league. I though he would be based on the conduct policy which states that acts harmful to others can be punished. It really is up to Goodell's interpretation. -
Peters may be willing to sit all season

It might be time to turn the discussion to JP vs Trent. -
Hey, I don't want to compare the Bills front office to other bad front office moves just to rationalize that the Bills front office is OK. Glad to be on the giving end for both Clements and Willis, but when you don't make the playoffs for 10 years and have losing records for most of those years, the front office looks bad. Not many franchises in the NFL are as bad as Buffalo over the same period so I'm not throwing stones anywhere.

Until he wins a playoff game he's the wrong coach in my book. He's got better talent now than in his first year ('06) at most positions on this team. He needs to turn that into more than 7 wins in my book. Anything less than 9-7 this year is a failure of this staff and a playoff win or bust next year as far as I'm concerned. Frankly, I think this is a very reasonable expectation at this point in time. -
I was at that Dallas game. Quite a game. Speaking of Dallas, the Bills in the 1993 regular season played in Dallas and beat them after losing to them in SB XXVII.

He's never backed it up with anything but mediocrity or less, but he has that opportunity this year. -
We can agree that Trent has the opportunity to silence his critics. All he has to do is stay healthy and play much better than last year. Complete more passes, throw more touchdowns, fewer interceptions and show that he can bring the team from behind and also put a weak team away. Make some big plays when needed. No big deal. Just go out and do it.

If this continues you can expect Mr. Parcells to make a move. He won't stand for this too long.

Well, this was a good trade...

Yes and it feels good. -
Looking at these numbers again, what really jumps out at me is the perception that Trent is so accurate when in 40% of his games his completion pecentage is 50% or less while JPs never was below 50% and.
-
Wow, you did some work here and it reveals alot. Take all of the emotion and opinion out of this debate and these numbers say plenty. Those in the Edwards camp will say the JP didn't back up his '06 season early in '07 and there is some truth to that. What is still a mystery to me is who in the Bills org made the decision to pull them plug on JP and exactly why. It may be quite some time before we know if ever.

Not so fast. These things always appear ugly before they get resolved. Let it play out. We're just into the ugly stage now and it might look worse before it gets better. Really it's all very typical so far. Player wants new deal. Team says no. Player decides to hold out. Team says get in here and we'll talk. Player says no. Team let's him sit. Player gets frustrated and says he'll never play for XX team again. Fans cry foul. Sooner or later one side moves a bit and the other will too.
-
Seems to me that the Bills haven't refused to give Peters a new deal, they just want him in camp before they talk. The agent's stance is that he wants the new deal first. It probably doesn't hurt Peters or the team for him to be holding out in the short run (couple weeks or so). I'd be surprised if the Bills refused to give him a new deal even though I think he should play another year first.
-
Please, let's not be fooled by last year's 7-9. The Bills beat only doormats and missed the playoffs by 3 games. 10-6 Cleveland did not make the post-season on a tie-breaker. However, the team looks to have a nice group of young players that should lead to improvement.
