IMO, the Internet is a giant "Bell Curve" amplifier. Prior to the information age, the 'public dialog' was confined to a relatively small subset of 'experts' and 'thought leaders.' Now, with easy access to a keyboard and too much time on their hands, anyone--no matter how stupid or uninformed--can chime in with their two cents and slag those who have differing POVs. No you don't, as with many NFL players. There aren't a whole lot of Joe Thomas' running around. On the other hand, you don't know what you've got [i.e., the new coaching staff / front office] if you don't give yourself an opportunity to find out. By week 6 they could have had a pretty good idea and it would have made sense to pull the trigger if they were like 2-4 with a healthy Sammy. Hindsight's 20-20, which is the Stadium Wall raison d'être... ("Look it up, Thuman!")

This was my thought as well when the trade went down. Teams looking to make a playoff push might have ponyed up more than just a 2nd if they saw him being healthy again.

If you want to get REALLY radical, only allow four men to rush the passer...

It won't be obstructed, but pesonally, I always liked sitting up higher when I had my seasons Tix. You can see the running lanes better, and watch the play develop without the mass of bodies getting in the way, IMO...
