  1. That prediction feels increasingly likely to me as well. If Allen fell to 22, would he be considered a "good value" pick???
  2. I can't see an OG ever going #2 overall. I don't care if he comes into the league already wearing a gold jacket and plays for 15 years. That's too high a spot to draft an interior OL....
  3. Off to the 'penalty box'for that font choice alone...
  4. I'm disappointed, but agree about not mortgaging the farm to go up to #2. Having a (potentially) great QB and a mediocre team--due the inability to fill other holes with cheap first and second round draft choices for the next two years--is just as bad as having a good team with a mediocre QB. We tried the latter, so the former isn't much more appealing either...
  5. Too much for this QB class, unfortunately, IMO. I'm a Rosen guy, but giving up that much to get him will set the team back for years. Allen at #12 is looking more like the new path forward...
  6. This reminds me of 2004 when the Bills were going to draft Rothlisburger and Pittsbugh took him two spots before us. Grrrrrrr....
  7. The old "I got a shot at the Super Bowl" discount....
  8. As a old fart who has absolutely no social media knowledge, what is that?
  9. After Googling around a bit I'm now intrigued by Will Compton. In 2016 he had 106 tackles and was a team captain. Jay Gruden had this to say about him last training camp: On Compton: "Obviously, Will Compton’s very smart and has been a great leader for us. He’s a great communicator, which you have to have at Mike linebacker." Due to the injury last year, he might come cheap and be hungry for a shot at Preston Brown's old position...
  10. Well, he finally moved into the starting lineup last year and then got hurt after three games. Not a lot of experience but the dreaded 'potential' is there... http://www.redskins.com/news/article-1/Will-Compton-Hopes-To-Return-After-Injury-Took-Away-Half-His-Season/819dd10e-0474-43ba-a695-d0e408d4329b Sounds like a McD kind of guy..... http://www.nbcsports.com/washington/video/micd-linebacker-will-compton-shows-redskins-how-set-tone
  11. All this chatter about Allen makes me think they actually may been talking about him being "their guy"--that is, before they went and swung the trade up to #12. However, now that that's occurred, I suspect they'll move their sights higher, given that they have the draft capital to go up and get one of the Big Three...
  12. Good plan. Man do I want Roquan Smith on this team. Not sure they'd be able to swing it if they trade up for QB, but he'd be a monster in this D...
  13. Ralph lucked into Polian. So luck is always a part of it...
  14. You just paid journeyman Julian Stanford $3 million for two years ($1.2 million + 1.25 million salaries). Second-contract starters in the NFL probably average $3-$4 million. If the Bills' offer is in the $4 million range, that's just the cost of doing business. You don't fix every position in any given year...
  15. Totally agree. It's impossible to have a roster of all-stars in the salary cap/free agent era. Every team has mid-tier players like Brown. He's smart, dependable and provides good leadership. If he gets beat out by a high draft pick, someone like Roquan Smith, he can slide into another role and provide high quality depth. If there's no addition via the draft or FA, he can start for another year, benefit from an improved DL and likely have another 100-plus tackle season...
  16. Enjoy it, Roboman. That was a great game and a real milestone for the program...
  17. One thing that makes me think all the talking heads link Allen to Buffalo is the "common knowledge" that (1) you need a cannon arm to play in the frozen tundra of Buffalo, (2) you can't be from California to play in the frozen tundra of Buffalo, and (3) Buffalo's 'blue collar' fan base wants a big, strong, white, WASP, small town kid to play QB in the frozen tundra--AKA, Jim Kelley, Jr. That profile fits Allen, and so it must be true. I hate talking heads...
  18. 4.5 hours. Not exactly the Iditarod... The DEFINITIVE profile of a lunch pail guy... https://collegefootball.ap.org/article/stanfords-trent-murphy-traces-toughness-family
  19. The longer they linger, the more chance they have to re-sign with the Bills. I would be happy if both guys returned...
  20. To be fair, the same thing could be said about Richie. He's been great for us, but was even better earlier in his career. And he's just as much a character issue as Pouncey. What Pouncy is NOT is healthy. Any guy that needs a hip replacement is not someone you sink a lot of money into...
  21. I'm thinking the Bills would like to keep it quite so they can continue to fish in the FA pond, without tipping how much cap room they have left. Don't want to scare off a prospect who might think they don't have any more money to spend...
  22. Being the Browns, that will be their plan. And on draft day, The Bills and some other team will move up to #2 and #3 and swipe the best QBs right out from under them. So Brownsie....
