Living in NJ and working in NYC I can finally stop hearing clown azz giant fans talking about their team like it doesn't stink. When we lost to the Jets, I heard more ish than you can believe. The fact that these same fans wanted to drive Eli and coughlin out after their first chip, and also thought the trash bag uck machine that fluked past the 5 or 6 wins they deserved will never be lost on me. They only talk after they put together a streak too, after the fact front running is the mark of the gutless fan base of the most boring team in the NFL.

I hate KC, but my gosh is their offensive roster better than ours. Henne comes in and they just have guys run open while this crazy line just blocks everyone.

Ok, so i normally don't read much coverage (it's all so tiresome) but this week I have been. what is strange to me is how all the analysis is literally 95% plus on the bills, with i'd say 70% of commentary being bills negative cinci positive. even the athletic (who i hold to a higher standard because i pay for them, but frankly are the same dorks and morons who to do sports reporting for ESPN) went on about how allen turns the ball over, how the bills BARELY beat a division rival with a back up qb at home, and how the bengals are on an 8 game win streak. it's shocking that the irony is totally lost. the bengals barely beat a division rival at home, w a back up qb, and they played badly and needed a huge fluke to win. allen and the bills have absolutely turned the ball over too much in the past 3 games (games 6 through 8 of their current win streak) at 3 times a game, but the fact that they are still winning essentially tells us they are so good that opponents need them to make mistakes to have a chance (a chance all of them failed to capitalize on). i think the bills d is rounding into perfect form (except no von, which would make us all time good) and the O is playing with a total green light. beaz and brown getting on page and us running the ball a bit more by design will happen over the next 3 games, and its gonna be something to watch.

How confident are you the Bills beat the Bengals?

if we don't turn the ball over 2 more times than cici does, and bad turnovers, not like 3rd and long punt replacement ones, then cinci has no shot at all. the way i see the game going -- cinci always receives and we always defer, so they get the ball first. they are opening drive MONSTERS, so they score a TD on the opening drive. over the course of the first 20 minutes of the game they go up 7-10 points at some point, maybe 17 -7. our d figures them out, we get the ball back to close the 2nd quarter, score and go into the half w a lead. we score to open the 3rd and they never get within 7 points of us after that. the only question is do we protect the ball and destroy them or do some sloppy stuff and keep them closer that it should be. bills win. -
so, i dunno if roman can change his spots enough to run what would be considered a good O for us (i'd give him a 25% of that) but i know i don't want him over dorsey (yeah yeah, might not have the choice!) because in his first OC year dorsey has us passing and running, which i think was our prior biggest flaw. i will say, i DON'T WANT roman and lamar to both end up on the jets.

So, i get the view that the bills O is not that talented. it's the number 2 o in the nfl, and quietly (and i cant believe im saying this) one of the most balanced given how well the bills run the ball (not that they call the most balanced plays, but that they are good at both). Given that, and how great JA17 is, one would expect to see a 1992 cowboys roster out there, but you have diggs allen and everyone else. the reality on O is that our OL is actually above average, and solid at run blocking and pass blocking when we mix it up, we struggle on short yardage goal line stuff and protecting against stunts and overloads, our RBs w hines and cook and motor are actually good, TE is OK (knox isn't enough), and for the passing game the D has to constantly scheme diggs away, and even then we have good production. On D, no von and no hyde stinks, but it's an above average DL that does well vs the run, our two LBs are on freaking tilt this season, and right now w tre and elam/banford playing well, we are back to a pretty sick secondary. I don't think anyone can say our D is not talented, it just lacks top line playmakers. i feel confident going into a game vs cinci w a mash unit offensive line.

if 3 starters are out, or worse (for them) should be out but suit up anyhow, then we will be smacking burrow something fierce. they'll truck us on a few drives, and we'll make some really billsy things happen of course, but the d was straight up on tilt on sunday and will be riding that forwards

maimi blitzed early and then coverd for the most part in the 2nd half. they got torched while blitzing and selective use of it in the 2nd worked really well for them all things considered. we just need to find a couple ways to get more productive runs mixed in, first down to end the game was encouraging. if we can mix our improved run game in a bit w the monster allen passes, and that means some allen runs too, no D in the nfl is hanging w us and it will cut down on the turnovers, especially sack fumbles.

Sure, he has good or great games from time to time. It's still not enough. Brown and bease (who I like and am happy to have) are the best we got behind him, but it's just doing the o a disservice. A single additional decent NFL wr, perhaps one w a lil size and speed even, adds more to this team than what all the injuries have taken away.

Allen absolutely made mistakes yesterday, Miami and the jets have ds that really frustrate our o. Some of the comments on this thread hit home. Miami went all out forcing deep passes to wrs, but they also did everything they could to prove Diggs. Constant one on ones vs our lesser wrs. That's our big issue on O. We have this monster QB and green lit offense, but base and brown were out of football when we took them on and now they get real burn. We just have a massive hole when it comes to wr talent. I saw a tweet showing Davis is more or less equivalent to kcs 4th wr, and that's without hill. Honestly, we have all these top 3 and 4 round DL and LBs who ride the pine 65% of the game or more, but we have two old guys elevated from practice squad in our top 4 we rotation. Imo we've just put a few too many eggs in one basket The other side, and this really is a positive when you think on it, we CAN run the ball. W Allen and our two backs we are a Baltimore style multiple threat. While you often have to take what the d gives you, you also have to put the foot down and dictate at times. At the end of the game, we needed a first everyone on earth knew what play was coming and we did it. We absolutely have to run the ball a bit more and with a touch more intelligence. We pretty much need play action to get diggs out of double coverage, and Allen to diggs on play action is a scary scary sight.

What's The Likelihood That Gabe Davis Will Get A Contract Extension?
colin replied to Kangaxx's topic in The Stadium Wall
gosh those teams blew. hardy was a lazy undeveloped player who's entire life went down the drain quickly too. factory of sadness years. we need some kind of change up WR2, big, strong, fast, something that stands out. GD i honestly thought would break out and be a star, but he's just not that good. -
could be, but look at what SF and baltimore paid their top flight MLBs. bobby wags gets huge money too. to me, mcd is all about his d, and loves to spend money on it, and edmunds is our most consistent player by far in terms of number of snaps he's on the field. don't think mcd wants to lose that. also, based on current trend whatever he signs will be cheap 2 or 3 years into it.

i think because we have a squad of DEs and rotate them, but we are down to 3rd string safety and it's 100% of snaps and a big drop off
-
josh is a magician who gets stuff off of script and out of broken plays like no one else in the nfl. he also is in an offense that attacks the whole field and he nearly never hits the quick outlet guy quickly. a couple of those a game, especially early, and some slight wrinkles and this O becomes just a horrible nightmare to D.

i think we are a slightly above average WR2 and or WR3 from absolutely waltzing to the number 1 seed. mckenzie not being in position to get out of bounds vs miami, ball bouncing off of davis' chest after a 68 yard frozen rope from JA17, and a few opportunities to score vs Minni. so the good part we have a pretty monster team which is ready to ball, the bad part is the sloppiness and lack of threat outside of diggs still exists. the solution is to have a couple new looks on O allowing us to run our favorite plays, and to take some better advantage of play action w our vastly improved run game. i think cook and hines are the real elements that we didn't have last season and they could help us get ahead of teams (like we have in all but 3 games this season) so we can win the game controlling the ball (and the 3 games we lost, we had the ball and coulda iced it if it went our way late) on the last drive.
