  1. And, my comment was strictly referring to your take that if Kulikov isn't re-signed then that trade was a complete loss. ONLY if Asplund ends up a bust as that swap of 2nds was a large component of that trade. No. The hit wasn't legal. The call on the ice was correct. BUT the hit was not dirty. And there should not have been supplemental discipline, IMHO. There was no obvious intent to injure & as previously pointed out had Girgensons not intercepted the buddy pass it would've been a clean & legal hit. The play was set up to be VERY similar to McCabe's legal hit on Laine earlier this year. The swipe at O'Reilly's twig & berries by Crosby "wasn't clean."
  2. Wouldn't want to have money against the R's picking up some Senate seats in '18 but it isn't a slam dunk. Midterm elections usually see the side holding the WH lose seats in Congress. Gut feel would be D's pick up from a handful to a dozen of seats in the House & R's pickup 2-3 in the Senate.
  3. Dems now really have to hope Ginsburg stays healthy for at least 2 more years & realistically at least 4. If she or Breyer is gone, the swing vote is no longer Kennedy but either Roberts or Gorsuch. And they really have no way to stop the next nominee now. Very short sighted of them to fillibuster this one. The R's would have gone Reid Option at that point, but they could've faced pressure introducing that on a nominee that altered the balance of the SC. Now, they'll have already killed the fillibuster, so the left won't have nearly as much leverage. And we thought progressives were acting unhinged for the past 3 months. That'd definitely turn it up to an 11. Ginsburg, Kennedy, & Breyer all born in the 30's. Thomas is oldest from the right & he's just a smidge under 10 years younger than Breyer. Likely won't happen, but President Obama's 2 could be the only ones left from the left by the time President Trump leaves office.
  4. Not exactly. Sabres were really high on Asplund and moving up 5 slots meant that they got him. Pysyk was not expected to be protected in the Vegas draft & would almost definitely be higher on Vegas' board than anyone else the Sabres would make available (Kulikov being an UFA @ end of this season doesn't factor into Vegas draft), so the Sabres pretty much traded 1 year of Pysyk's services for 1 year of Kulikov's & Asplund. The 3rd round pick was pretty much a throw in.
  5. After '13 it was pretty much inevitable once a single party held the WH & Senate. Sad day.
  6. But he DOES have a Masters degree, so really none of the bolded is necessary for the discussion. If that doesn't carry the day, his HS IB diploma certainly will.
  7. Hope he scores the winner against them. Then this horrid season can be oficially done.
  8. Like you said, Deb, progressives depend on a "somewhat" informed electorate. Someday, we hope you break through that barrier, but we don't have much hope for it.
  9. Perhaps when the new stadium is built, for the new Ring of Fame they could put '32' up but not put the name that goes with it. It allows the football accomplishments to be acknowledged while not honoring the person. Which seems to be what the Bills have tried to do since that fateful summer day.
  10. Nope. That's how Gary Unger's iron man streak ended.
  11. Saddened to read that your wife's health took a hit. Hope everything works out for you & her. We get insurance through my wife's employer who is self-insured. Obamacare was not kind to self-insured companies. Since the ACA went through, our monthly bill is up significantly & our deductible is also up a lot. We don't drop it though because we have kids playing sports.
  12. Or, perhaps, we can fix our immigration system. And, we also could, after proper vetting, if no red flags are raised & they meet the criteria for admittance, allow the entire family into the country.
  13. Reagan appointed O'Connor, Kennedy, & Scalia.
  14. Clearly, there'd be more to it, but that would be a pretty solid starting point towards radicalizing some that would be entirely self-inflicted on our part.
  15. So, you don't see any possible negative consequences of forcing families to live on separate continents? "Mommy, the twins, & I were allowed passage, but dad wasn't. This country hated my dad & now that I'm grown they hate me." Nah, no chance of that radicalizing anyone.
  16. It is true that "fresh" snow was a miniscule part of what got dumped on the city & surrounding area. It was all the friggin' snow that HAD been sitting on Lake Erie that was suddenly in everyones' yards that was the far bigger issue.
  17. '77. Mind boggling amounts of snow.

  22. That is actually a very good way, sadly, of describing him.
  23. Would much rather have Fasching on Eichel's line than Moulson. Slide Rodrigues onto Jack's other side, give Reinhart the 3rd line and slide Girgensons back to center the 4th line & take the occassional shift on Jack's wing as well. Oh, well. Guess Moulson still has photos of someone above his paygrade on his I-phone.
  24. Sheesh, it's his avatar, obviously. Not a very flattering photo either, btw.
