Pretty sure their being idiots explains it.

Saw him in a tiny theater near Filly in '01 about 2 weeks after the Sabres knocked the Phlyers out. Awesome show. Opened w/ Calling Elvis & the last song before the encore was Telegraph Road. He did Speedway at Nazareth in that show as well. Wore my replica Gilmour. Never got flack until leaving, then caught a LOT. Definitely someone worth seeing play live. No fancy light show, just a truckload of awesome guitarists w/ a bit of accompaniment. Have about 11 of his solo CD's + DS's Sultans of Swing which has a '96 solo set of his as the 2nd disk.

That's a toughie. The Q itself narrows it down to 80% of their catalog. And the 1st clue leaves it at ~55% of the catalog. Don't watch much network TV 'cept for CBS @1PM on Sunday in the Fall/ early Winter, so the 2nd clue was no help. When in doubt, always go w/ Telegraph Road.

Obama's Foreign Policy
Taro T replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Didn't Ollie North do time for thst one in the '80's. Guess they really do want their foreign policy back. -
He needs to be careful there. Lazio was a horrible candidate (how the #### does she keep pulling that ace?) but he was officially done like a dinner when he "physically attacked her" in a debate. OK, so he actually walked over to her podium to hand her a stack of papers, but the moment he did that he officially had no way to get into the race. If Trump is too forceful in his verbal attacks he gets his wish & doesn't have plans for January 20.

Seriously, you went w/ SS for your fantasy woman? Figured you'd throw some meat on the fire & go for either somebody relevant or Minnie Pearl.

Why do you hate the wife of our 1st black President?

One of the few good things (politically) about living in a state that is a lock for 1 party is never seeing a presidential ad on local TV & only rarely catching the national buys.

Sabres & NHL 2016-17 - Victor Antipin Signs One Year Deal
Taro T replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in Off the Wall Archives
They do. But how much of that is due to Pysyk & how much is due to Jack being on the ice against the other team's bottom lines (which are the guys Pysyk is normally on the ice against)? Probably more the latter. -

McNabb plays 5v5 as Doughty's partner typically but he is definitely LA's #5. Very little ST's play & little crunch time ice. Last time I checked, he was definitely outside the top 4 in ice time. LA playes him there because Doughty's that good that overall they believe the D is better w/ Doughty not having a better partner. IMHO, calling him a top 4 D-man is akin to calling Gorges a top pairing guy. Yes, that's the ice time he gets, but Gorges should be 3rd pairing & on the top pk unit. Unfortunately, on this past year's Sabres he was their best option at Ristolainen's partner. -
What this campaign season has taught me ...

Juror, Really glad to see you back here. Enjoy your posts though I tend to disagree quite often. (Agree w/ a fair amount too.) Unfortunately, don't have the energy to respond now & will then be too busy the next couple of weeks. Hope you stick around. -

Phil f'n Housley got into the HoF. No way Thornton doesn't get there based on his longevity & regular season play. Doesn't mean he isn't overrated (actually reinforces it IMHO). If Thornton was all his (many) supporters claim him to be, he'd've had some success (not necessarily championships, but far more than SJ has achieved) in the playoffs in either Beantown or near the Bay. -

In the 4 years prior to grabbing Joe, the Snarks had had finishes of 2nd, 1st, 5th, & 1st in the Pacific. That team had been rising under Lombardi & then stayed strong under Wilson. That team has been a LOT more than just Thornton and was very good w/out him. They have routinely dissapointed in the playoffs. They got lucky that Anaheim lost to Nashville, because they would've had their standard 2nd round exit were it not for that. (They still might've had it if not for the extra day rest before game 7 which definitely helped the geriatrics on that team.) Most everybody is on the "Thornton's awesome bandwagon." You'll never see me there. A guy that big has to bring more than perimeter passing. I would take Marleau in a heartbeat before taking Joe (& at this point, a whole lot of other guys than either of them from that team ). SJ is a very fun team to watch, but as long as Joe is there, expect regular season success & playoff failure. -

But yet they went to 2 SCFs since, winning 1 & it took SJ a decade to get there & look horrendously outmatched. Maybe, somebody else should have worried about the return as well. -

Just through the league office after the trade was consumated. Even in the regular & off seasons GM's don't always let everyone know a guy is on the block. When Thornton was traded, the Bruins ONLY worked on a deal w/ SJ for fear that Joe/ the fans would hear about it before a trade could be completed & it'd blow up in the B's faces. If they couldn't get the deal done they were going to wait until the trade deadline at a minimum before revisiting dumping him. -

Pretty sure that teams in the playoffs can also make trades, but there's no point to it as any player picked up after the deadline can't play in the playoffs. -
Thought he meant the Q as more of a "this moron stated that he killed 49 people in the name of a group that would kill him as soon as look at him" sort of irony.

Saying he's average is a smidge of hyperbole, he was good this season. But he isn't worth what he makes and he's not likely to repeat last season; which puts him in the overpriced, average, & old categories. None of which bring back AS D in return. My guess is he'd fetch the 2nd that was mentioned upthread, though if somebody w/ a late round 1st needed a goalie he might fetch that. And it is more likely that Murray winds up Hedberg class than Lundqvist/ Roy class. I'd agree it makes a lot of sense for the Pens to try to move MAF; not sure it'll be worth their while to do it this off-season. Not w/ the likely expansion draft coming up next off-season.
-
Even though nobody ever plays Floyd's Brain Damage w/out following it w/ Eclipse; they're 2 separate songs. Just like This Beat Goes On & Switchin' to Glide are 2 songs that nearly always are played in succession.
-
Technically, it's 2 songs.
-
Yes. MAF is average. He was outplayed by a rookie when it mattered. He's on the wrong side of 30. I would definitely rather have Lehner than MAF moving forward & (more importantly to the discussion) the Sabres GM is high on Lehner. The Sabres will be making trades this off-season almost definitely, but bringing in an overpriced backup goalie won't be one of them. Through the years MAF has had instumental roles Penguin playoff disappointments. Don't want him at what he costs under any reasonable circumstances.
-
There is no scenario in which the Sabres trading for MAF makes sense for them. Lehner is better & cheaper. If he can be re-signed, Johnson is better & will come cheaper. Ullmark may be better & is significantly cheaper. MAF is average but due to the pedigree is very pricey. You can keep him. (Probably will be stuck w/ him until the expansion draft.)

I believe she is very confused about a lot of things and Phillip recognizes that. I also believe that Phillip considers his kids to be American (that seems to be evolving for him, not so much Elizabeth). At a minimum he knows that they'd have a very hard time adjusting to Russia if it came to it. He has been doing this job for over 20 years and is burnt out. He also is now living with the fear of getting caught being in the foreground. It's always there, but now w/ Martha & William's operations going sour, his getting caught is a primary concern. He knows the Center doesn't give a rat's bippy about him - only what he brings back for them. His friends' kid getting recruited got that family killed. There is no way he wants Paige to join the family business & he can see her going that route if she starts dating Matthew. Agree w/ you that she likes Matthew, but that isn't the only thing swirling in her head now. She still loves her parents (though the standard mother-teen daughter angst could flare up now that she's seen mommy kill a thug) and seems to think that she could "help" by getting info from Matthew. The other thing Phillip might have going in his head is the recognition that they may have to flee very soon and he knows that Paige & Henry can't make the transition to Russia & is (may be?) considering letting them stay in the US (which Elizabeth will not be on board with) but realizes that can't be an option if Stan thinks the kids were in on the deal. (That's probably wrong, but whatever.) Next season should stay interesting.
