  1. So Cardale becomes our Garofalo, who is the new Matt Cassel. But that only happens if he plays a little and looks good, AND the team wins.
  2. Serious question: what do you do with Cardale? All you ever hear about him is that he's not ready, which he proved hugely in the Jets game. You also read there's no time during the regular season to develop him because other QB's need the rep's. So when does he get ready? If you bring back Tyrod, he plays and he's probably here a few more years. Where's the window for Cardale? If he's "not ready," how do you make him the 2nd QB even with EJ gone? If you don't bring back Tyrod, someone else plays because Cardale's not ready. You pick up a serviceable vet and probably forget about the playoffs. If you draft Watson at #10 (which appeals to me a lot), there's a better chance of him playing early -- like in 2017 -- than Cardale. So what's the point of carrying Cardale? What are you supposed to do with him and when?
  3. Wasn't Knapp blamed for something and then fired by the Bears?
  4. Hmmm . . . his first answer was that he's around people he loves being around. So . . . take that Pegulas, Whaley, Brandon? Is that what he's saying? And second answer was no such contract clause in Jax. So it was about the money? And now it isn't?
  5. "The only real red flag for Sean McDermott as possible Bills coach is that he's willing to take the Bills job." This may be the most insightful comment I've ever seen on TBD.
  6. I'm perfectly fine with McDermott and McCoy. But there won't be any Tyrod trade. Nobody else will want to pick up his contract. That forces the Bills to either keep him (unlikely) or cut him. When he's cut, anyone can pick him up on a new deal on their own terms without giving anything up. He'll end up with a two-year contract somewhere for less than what Osweiler get.
  7. This whole "control of the 53" issue is a red herring. Rex got the players he wanted -- Tyrod (Rex knew him years ago in Baltimore and claimed he wanted him for the Jets), Darby (Rex needed cover DB's), Harvin, S-Lawson, Ragland, Washington. Whaley didn't call substitutions or rotations for Rex. Rex got the coaches he wanted too, all 479 of them including Roman and Rob Ryan. Marv didn't tell Polian who to draft. They talked about where the roster was short, like most coaches and GM's. The Parcells cooking story sounds good but Parcells himself knew he wasn't scouting on Saturdays. What he meant was that he knew best where he needed help, not who was the best player. So if Parcells needed a safety he didn't want someone else drafting Joey Galloway @ WR -- which he was consulted on. I'm so tired of being fed crap by so-called experts.
  8. Oops! I just Wikipedia'd him. Not only is Chuck Knox still alive, but he's 6 years younger than Marv.
  9. I'd pick Chuck Knox over Marv because Marv had Polian to build his team and the next coach will be on his own (with Whaley). Knox produced good teams with a lot less front office expertise than Marv had.
  10. Yes. And that was a combination of personnel (running out of safeties) and coaching. Rex depended on elite DB's to make his system work and didn't adjust when he had to. Yes Yes again. Yes three times, and we have a winner. Everybody gets the blame for dismantling the D.
  11. Take a look at what the last SIX Jets coaches did in their first years (that is, coaching the last guy's players): 1997 9-7 Bill Parcells 2000 9-7 Al Groh 2001 10-6 Herm Edwards Lost Wild Card Playoffs (Raiders) 38–24 2006 10-6 Eric Mangini Lost Wild Card Playoffs (Patriots) 37–16 2009 9-7 Rex Ryan Won Wild Card Playoffs (Bengals) 24–14 Won Divisional Playoffs (Chargers) 17–14 Lost Conference Championship (Colts) 30–17 2015 10-6 Todd Bowles Three made the playoffs. Parcells took over a 1-15 team. Bowles won 10 games. My point is only that it's NOT too much to demand improvement and even success in the first year. Continuity can be overrated.
  12. White is OK but I'd like to see a red faceguard.
  13. The story says first West Coast win since 2004. Didn't the Bills win the Cheeseburger game in Seattle when Mularkey was the coach? When was that?
  14. What I liked about Smith and Bayless on First Take is that I could ignore both of them at the same time by not watching one show. Now I'll have to not watch two of them.
  15. I have never watched a game in the same room as you but I'm ready to make it 7,483.
  16. Seems a little strange to me. He took the risk if something went wrong and the team never signs him. No jokes or smartass, please. Does anyone have any insight?
  17. I like the Shaq Lawson pick and I think Whaley knows what he's doing. However, I haven't seen a lot of Clemson and when I did I didn't focus on him. I also saw the ESPN (cheap shot?) video last night of Lawson getting owned by Stanley. I know he's a lot bigger, but especially since they (whoever "they" are) say they want him to lose weight: someone who knows, please tell me he's not Aaron Maybin. Or for that matter Erik Flowers.
  18. OK, Electric Company and Great Gazoo. Not sure House is HOF worthy. As for OJ, I didn't want to get into his permanent eligibility controversy after . . .
  19. Today's Tank McNamara (it's a comic strip) brings up a possible Nicknames Hall of Fame. I started thinking of Bills nicknames and I was disappointed how few I came up with that were really good. The only one I liked enough for a HOF was "Cookie" (Chester Carleton Gilchrist). Can anybody else think of HOF-worthy Bills nicknames? Not "Jimbo" (Kelly) or "Mini-Max" (Anderson). Really good ones.
  20. REALLY good to see Talley up and around like this.
  21. Don't count out Miami if only because Dolphins are desperate and dumb enough to well overpay him. I'm not saying, I'm just saying . . .
  22. Why was Carpenter kicking so far to the left on the XP instead of straightaway?
  23. We may be in a race with KC. I'm wondering if Andy Reid signs Bryce Brown (who Bills passed on last week for Herron and Wood). Didn't Reid coach Brown in Philadelphia?
  24. I think there's an error in the choices. They should be: --No --Hell No --NFW No --#%@^%@!! No
