True. And throw in there that for some reason Gase doesn't like Bell. I am NOT saying Gore replaces Bell. I'm saying Gase will like having him around unless and until Frank's skill set forces him to do something else.

I see your logic, but here's my problem: for years (with Brady) the NE offense was based on quick reads and getting the ball out on seams and curls and other short-to-intermediate stuff, with just the occasional long pass. It also exploited mismatches at TE with Gronk, which didn't happen in '19 so the NE offense scratched around for points more than it was used to while its D (which has lost some people from '19) controlled the game. I don't know if Cam can play that kind of O, especially without a normal offseason. And it may be even worse if they redesign the O to fit him without a normal offseason. Now I'll just stand back while other people tell me how wrong I am.

Are you sure you're not thinking of Will (and Sean) McDonough? Will McDonough was a classy reporter for both The Boston Globe and NBC and I don't recall Sean ever badmouthing the Bills. Shaughnessy is primarily a baseball writer who is pandering to his local base here when he has nothing else to write about. I wonder how many Bills (or Jets or Dolphins) games he's even watched.

Can someone here confirm for me: for dead money purposes, a retirement is the same as a cut, right? So a team can't fix a cap issue like that by just letting a player walk into the sunset?

Living here in the Garden State I got to see a lot of Chad Pennington, who was actually a first round draft choice (Ok, by the Jets, but still ...). He had very limited athletic ability, an unimpressive arm, and maybe college stats inflated by playing with Randy Moss -- a big advantage in comparing him to Fromm. But Pennington really knew how to play the game of football and the position of quarterback and he made his team win because he was so good from the neck up. I keep thinking -- hoping? -- that's Fromm's story.

And here I thought drafting Fromm meant the Davis Webb era is over. The only question in my mind here -- seriously -- is whether they'll put Fromm on the roster or chance waiving him to the PS. Webb is a non-factor and Barkley is on the last year of his contract, so Fromm was drafted to fill the luxury position of backup QB for the longer term, not 2020. They like saving the roster space by carrying only 2 QB's and I think they'll carry two kickers with Bass handling KO's. They also like DL's and WR's in numbers. So there will be some tough decisions coming this year. And I wouldn't be surprised if Fromm spent '20 on IR either. Just sayin'.

I really hope you're right but I have no doubt he makes the team because nearly 80% of his KO's were touchbacks.

Maybe this has already been mentioned but it seemed to escape everyone yesterday in the argument over leg strength: in 2019 he had 55 touchbacks on 72 kickoffs. 72 kickoffs in 13 games also means Georgia Southern was scoring, meaning it probably didn't need to try 50+ yard FG's very often.

If he's the second coming of Chad Pennington I'll live with it. Before Pennington's noodle arm gave out he was a really good football player.

I hope you're right (on Draft Day I want to drink the Kool-Aid) but I worry about rainbow kickers at New Era. Bills kickers have to blast line drives to cut through the wind. Arcing kicks allow for more play from the wind.

Maybe this explains why they took Fromm --- to make a Georgia Southern kicker comfortable with a Georgia holder.

Agreed and I'm old enough to remember when Charger powder blue on gold pants was their everyday look, not special, which makes the look iconic.
