  1. I think you're overstating the importance of Peters...by a lot. He's a very good lineman, and probably Buffalo's best player. But he's not the dominant player that Orlando Pace or Jonathan Ogden was 6 years ago (yet, anyway). I doubt Buffalo could make the playoffs without him, but he alone isn't the difference between an 8 to 10 win team, and a 3-13 group.
  2. As long as they don't telegraph their screens to Parrish like they did the last couple years, I'm cool with that. It got quite obnoxious seeing them throw a screen to Parrish 80% of the time he was in the game on a 1st down, or 2nd and short to medium range....
  3. Fans of pretty much any other team in the league would be excited that Corner seems to be playing so well that he's overshadowing McKelvin so far. It's not like McKelvin's talent has disappeared, give him time...to me, this is a positive, especially after the selection of Corner was criticized by some in April. I'm sure that even Cardinals fans weren't bitching when Anquan Boldin was outplaying Bryant Johnson as a rookie. Worked out ok for them- they've had a very potent passing attack for years.
  4. Agreed on Cleveland being overrated- Edwards and Winslow are major injuries waiting to happen, if their track record is any indication. Anderson really struggled down the stretch last year, and the needle is very close to "E" on Jamal Lewis. I think they're a classic 8-8 team...kind of the same team as the Bengals, really.
  5. Don't be surprised if he doesn't even make the team...
  6. Lighting up Buddy Ryan's vaunted "46" defense in Rich Stadium in 1990. Kelly had over 200 yards passing in the first quarter alone. The Bills scored 24 very quick points, and had to hang on tight to win it at the end. That was also the game where Cunningham threw that crazy 95ish yard TD to Calvin Williams I believe...the one where Bruce Smith basically was flipped over Cunningham in the end zone. I think the '06 Texans win and last years Redskins win are good choices too...just because it's been so long since the franchise was capable of pulling out tough wins like that on the road. 52-34 over the Steelers in '91...Kelly tossed 6TDs that day I believe. Late in 2001 when the brutally bad Gregg Williams coached Bills went into the Meadowlands late in December and knocked off the Jets, who still had hopes of winning the division. That was the Testaverde retarded dump-off to Curtis Martin game. Three games from Bledsoe's first season- the snow game vs Miami (most fun I've ever had in that Stadium), and the OT games against the Bears and Vikings.
  7. If Royal's healthy, I think he's the best option. He's not going to turn anybody's head, but he's a serviceable tight end.
  8. Which one of them is going to block? Yeah, they're both dynamic threats (allegedly, in the case of McKelvin), but whoever doesn't get the ball is going to be useless. I personally wouldn't want my #1 and #2 corners out there lead blocking on a kickoff return anyway, even if both of those guys were bigger.
  9. Like most Bills fans, I can't stand McGahee either...but the "worst draft pick" stuff is crap. He was a beast in '04, the only time the Bills have even sniffed the playoffs in years.
  10. Halfway through the season, I don't think anybody will be using the word "explosive" to describe a Dick Jauron offense. They could be 5-3 at that time...hell, they could finish 11-5 and make the playoffs. But it will be defense, special teams, and an efficient, conservative offense that do it for them. Jauron's been around the NFL too long to change his stripes.
  11. I didn't quote anything. I picked the number out of my head. 95% is about what I think the odds are on it happening, not really a statistic. But whatever...without using numbers since they're apparently so offensive to you, I'll just say that it SEEMS LIKELY that Edwards will progress rather than regress. I could be wrong. If Edwards can be compared to Fiedler at this stage of his career, I think that's a good thing. Not that Fiedler was any great shakes...but Edwards has time to improve.
  12. In terms of his upside, I like the Bulger comparison from earlier in the thread. As for what he showed in minimal playing time as a rookie, Fiedler is pretty fair. So, if he doesn't progress and get any better, we have Jay Fiedler on our hands...considering there's a 95 percent chance he'll get better, I can deal with it...
  13. They need to be careful with this in my opinion. I'd like to see the guy run a slant, crossing pattern, or square-in once in a while before they throw 7 or 8 million a year at him. I understand that Losman's problems may have played a role in Evans developing into a deep threat only, but nonetheless that's his reputation right now. I wouldn't be crushed to give him a 3 or 4 games to show that he's not one-dimensional before they re-sign him. I'm sure he's not afraid to go over the middle on a consistent basis...but I'd like to see it happen before big money is tied up in a guy that might just be a very, very dynamic #2 receiver.
  14. Yep, it's definitely DT #2 for me also. I know he won't start, but what I'm wondering about most is the role of Ellis in pass situations early in the season...will he be able to supplant Kelsay/Denney?
  15. No doubt- I was hoping the Bills would make a play for Gray this spring...can't understand why the Texans would sign him and then dump him before camp unless they were really intent on trading Rosenfels at the draft.
  16. Greg Ellis came back from an Achilles tear to have a career year last season...Ronald Curry has torn his too, I believe, and he's still pretty productive. It can be done.
  17. If that's true, you'd have to think a QB (maybe even Garcia himself) would be going back to the Packers. TB still has a boatload of mediocre QBs if I'm not mistaken, and Green Bay needs some sort of insurance policy if Rodgers struggles or gets hurt. Favre for Garcia and a 2nd or 3rd rounder seems to make sense.
  18. Congrats- you insulted a man's family based on one member's prowess at coaching football. You should be proud.
  19. Really enjoyed "The Buffalo Bills and the Almost Dream Season." I believe Carucci did that, but I don't remember. I thought Levy's autobiography was pretty lame (and very inaccurate when it came to game information).
  20. It's a below average run blocking unit, and an above average pass blocking unit. That ranking is fair (I'd have them more toward 13 or 15 but it's not outlandish to put them at 21)...they could be judged anywhere in the middle of the pack of NFL teams in terms of their line and I think it would be reasonable. I think many, many years of attrocious line play has conditioned us to think that the line is better than it is. It's solid now...it was terrible before. It's still not top 10 in the league. They need A LOT more from Dockery in the run game.
  21. Simms strikes me as a warm weather pretty boy type. I know his dad played in NY blah blah blah, but somehow Chris doesn't come off as a guy that can play in Buffalo in November and December.
  22. Not a bad gig for Gray...make 40K to throw the ball around in practice for a couple weeks and be there in case they traded Rosenfels.
  23. People got "excited" about having Anthony Thomas as a backup? Ever? Did that really happen?
