I agree with and appreciate your post, but I think that McDermott is at least as guilty as Beane in neglecting the WR position. McDermott has at the very least an equal say in the draft, and I think more than equal. Also, the paltry numbers our receivers produce is with an MVP QB. Could you only begin to imagine what ther numbers would look like with average or below average QBs? Posters on this board were complaining about the lack of talent at the wr position for a long time, yet the obvious was lost on McDermott. The primary focus of Bills management should be to provide Josh with weapons and more talent and depth at OL. Will McDermott do this? I sure hope so but there is no reason to expect that he will. We are very lucky that Josh signed that extension. I'm sure that he is more frustrated than we are.

Thanks for a great post. I only disagree wrt Reid getting fired. The man is great, and was very good with Alex Smith, let alone Mahomes. McDermott is not close to being in his class imo.

Receivers, no doubt. Whenever there is a lack of talent on a team, many fans love to blame the scheme. I heard this all through the entire drought, especially about the OL. Now we have talented blockers and suddenly the OL is good. It isn't a coincidence. It makes many fans feel better and more hopeful to blame the scheme instead of the players. The truth is that our QB is first rate and our wrs are second rate. McDermott cares mostly about defensive tackles and cornerbacks. This has been staring at us in the face since his arrival.

I really do see your point, however the NFL is now primarily a passing league. Football was great in the days of the Steel Curtain, The Ken Stabler Raiders, The Earl Campbell Oilers, etc. but those days are gone. The Bills are a team with a great quarterback, a very good (imo) OL, and inadequate wide receivers. This is unthinkably stupid, yet they dedicate their best draft resources to cornerbacks and DTs, and have done so since the arrival of McDermott. If they get rid of McDermott, this team would improve immediately. Once again this is jmo.

These were low level gangsters and one was a known rat. The Mafia as we know it just is not as powerful as many believe it is. Most of them are two bit drug dealers and low intellect rats. I'm not trying to make the case that no NFL player will get into debt with gangsters and drop a pass or two. It's probably happened many times over the years. That said, I think that NFL fixes today are put in place by big advertisers. The NFL has the American male audience almost completely sewed up.They are now seeking foreign citizens around the world and American women. Women have long determined who will be celebrities. The Beatles and Elvis are great examples. Is anyone here old enough to remember girls fainting at Beatle concerts? Michael Jackson had more women followers than males imo. I am sure that millions of young girls watched KC games hoping to catch a glimpse of their idol Taylor Swift. I can't prove it but I am 100% certain that some penalty flags were influenced by her presence. She of course was NOT in on it and seemed astonished when fans were booing her image on the screen. Her presence at these games brought in huge bucks from advertisers. The old saying "follow the money" rings true. One last thing.....I read somewhere that high school kids now have accounts on some of these gambling sites. I think that gambling addiction numbers will soon soar. Many people cannot control their gambling and bet more than they can afford. The ease in which people can bet on sports is going to hurt many people and the integrity of sports. Of course, all of this wrt gambling is jmo.

I have been saying this for years. McDermott is the ultimate boss, not Beane. McDermott has two primary concerns. One is defensive tackles, the other is cornerbacks. He has little interest in providing Josh with top notch wideouts. I know, people will point at Keon Coleman but they traded down twice before they drafted him, skipping over a far better wr in the process. Do look at the 2025 draft. Look at his earliest picks. I don't know how anyone can think that these picks came from Beane. McDermott holds far too much sway in this oeganization. He has since he came to town and gave the Mahomes pick to KC, after which he promptly drafted a (now useless) cornerback.
