Why the Allen project may be different
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Batman1876's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you don't sound like a process-truster. in fact you sound like a heretic! -
I'm no expert on intra-office relationships, but I am an expert on other stuff. Legalities aside, many times, with issues involve office interactions, things are not a problem until someone makes an issue of it. That seems to be a pretty consistent trend from place to place. When you dance of the forbidden dance floor, you take your chances.

What This Draft Taught Bills Fans
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to 1st Ammendment NoMas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not trying to convince you otherwise. You're a fan just like everyone else. The OP chose the Bills-fan-path-less-traveled, given the success of the current management group over the last year. He acknowledged that they may well miss. These guys may fail, but they have a path laid out for success and I'm simply choosing optimism this time. They did go get their guy. They did move up again to get Edmunds who seems to be a well regarded prospect across the board. and so on.... -

Or, we could just wait until they fail and then jump on 'em. I think the op nailed some valid reasons to have hope---just a different way of looking at where we are. And there was a time when making the humble field goal could have changed the course of history. -
Opinions on why we passed on Rosen?
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get the sense that Beane and McDermott would gladly deal with whatever social justice agenda Rosen might follow in exchange for delivering a SB championship to Buffalo. I think they are both wired to win, and if they felt Rosen was The One he would be a Bill right now. I am 100% convinced they felt Josh Allen was the guy that could deliver, relative to those available at that point. I've deduced this by looking at their actions leading up to the selection. Concussion history seems likely to have been a factor, attitude and how it would play with the team might well have been a factor (Beane indicated they consulted with the leadership council before selecting Allen, perhaps they did the same with respect to Rosen etc all?), frame etc. -
RD1, Pick 7: Josh Allen QB - Wyoming
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great post. Here's the thing...it seems that many posters on the board had Allen apparently as a long shot project, backup, 3rd round or later talent. It seems they had Rosen as the top talent in the draft, no ifs, and or buts about it. So, I can understand the fury and sadness that Allen was selected at all....but there's no mistake lots of professional football people disagreed with that assessment in spite of Allens 10th grade stats. I don't see how you reconcile that unless Allen delivers as a top tier about worthy of a top 10 selection. I was was struck by the video clips of past drafts with fans cheering wildly at qb's selected who turned out to be a bust. There were many, many of those, and we can only hope the team selected the right guy moving forward. -
Pegula comments on Trump
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Stokes84's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
and, maybe, people disagree with him, feel his perspective is the the wrong one, feels he shouldn't protest where he does, or feel whatever else they have a right to feel. which brings us full circle to why the owners have an issue that is concerning enough to have a secret meeting about, which reveals the reason many business owners probably would prefer their employees to do things on their own time, away from the office. and I read comments like those attributed to Chris Long about ck being on a roster. long has little skin in the game beyond this brief flicker of time where he is playing the game. He loses little, if anything, if things get worse for the nfl, or any particular team in general if they sign ck and revenue is impacted. I'd personally be more impressed with a guy taking a stand putting his money on the table. Make a statement, grab 5 or 6 of the highest paid guys on the team, set up a press conference and offer to pay ck's market value by renegotiating their contracts. Forces the owners hand, makes a REAL statement on how they collectively see the world, and the importance of supporting the players right to do whatever he wants in the stadium. Heck a great message would be to make him the highest paid player in the league. -
if if you really believe that "time will tell the true tale", why are you throwing haymakers? And why throw haymakers if you're going to miss so wildly? The r investigation has been going on for 25%+ of your president's first term, and while it shows signs of slowing down, after roughly 10,000 leaks we've said good bye to one existing Nixonesque prez, one unbelievably qualified democrat Prezi candidate, multiple FBI high-ranking operatives playing games with the truth and exactly 0 Robert Muellers. Of those individuals, the easiest to dispatch is Robert Mueller, and he's still working away.

Trump and Russia
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Benjamin Franklin's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
and this is where you miss the greater point. 60+ million people are not riled up at the world knuckledragging Neanderthals incapable of turning on a computer without electrocuting themselves with the drool dripping out the side of their mouth. Some are, most not. what you are espousing is....bullsh8t. the higher level game analogy is 100% on point. it would seem we are on the brink of the end to this little Russia-gate fiasco and the country will be served with yet another heaping pile of political excrement disguised as intrigue. the game played by those who hate the man, and who want to wrest control of the presidency away from the duly elected president has played out over the past couple years with innuendo, tactical media leaks, insiders working against him and he appears to have weathered the storm remarkably well by doing a couple things well: 1. removing the mystery of those working against him. he calls them out, by name, and tells the story from his perspective. I personally hate the Twitter usage but the message gets out. no media spin, no good looking monkey or monkeyess staring at the camera telling you what they think by interpreting his words their way. 2. for all the talk of his thin skin, he shows a remarkable ability to take it all in stride. 3. when he talks of people going to jail, its simply the bare-knuckles version of what his opponents in the political world (Schumer, Pelosi, Waters, McCain et al) do in politi-speak. Clinton calling him a racist and a xenophobe etc etc in public and in a debate is no less aggressive than saying she should go to jail. Comey claiming eagle scout status while slipping a shiv between his ribs is no nicer/gentler/kinder then saying comey is slimy and should go to jail. Here's the interesting part, for me anyway, I really struggle with the guy as a candidate and human being. I saw him as a better option than Clinton, but had my reservations. I did not like his approach to...just about everything...post election but was quite certain his opponents would stop at nothing to tear him down. I've found as I move forward I cheer his victories and admire his attitude which really boils down to "f off", especially as I watch the dopey talking heads speak about how Comey's memos back up everything he has said when in fact, that's simply not true. The story is molded to the message they want to send, and Trump molds his story as he see a fit. To say he plays the game at a higher level isn't even debatable. . -
I respect your tenacity on all the data and research provided. I have no idea how this will play out, nor do I know if all the players are positioned on the board as you have laid out. To your credit, you've said as much. That said....I can not see an outcome where the government does not demand a pound of flesh for something, some way, some how. There are far too many powerful people on record as saying the nastiest of things about Trump and Russia, and far too much money spent. The nickel and dime b-llsh-t crimes against the lesser gods, fair or not, do not justify the time, money and foot stomping of the special counsel, and I simply cannot see the collective government stating "Ok guys, our bad, when we heard Trump and White Russians we misunderstood.". I also think Trump lives and breathes in a world where he understands sometimes things got just go away.

ironic, funny, sad, potentially disingenuous and frightening at the same time. no..not in this case. more like liberals are the rubber, Trump is the blow torch willing to melt the crap out of the rubber. What an education...who would have guessed the former director of the fbi would acknowledge being knee deep in political manipulation, admitting to attempts to influence the outcome of an election and making talk show rounds like jilted debutante-and we all would know about it? If, as you suggest, Trump is guilty of criminal activity, it's obvious it's almost something to be listed under "relevant experience" on a resume for work in Washington. -

I'm always fascinated when an advocate of a scorched earth policy cries foul when his neighborhood is ablaze. Trump, for all his challenges has schooled all these fools in one regard: When someone swings at you, punch them in the face. -
Seattle postpones Kaepernick workout b/c of kneeling?
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Jobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think if this guy worked in a call center, selling replacement windows in a cubicle, wearing a headset, his views and socks would bother some and others would support him. Some people would be neutral. In a business based on entertainment and emotion, is it any surprise that people had an emotional reaction? Wasn't that the point? And isn't it probable that if your actions potentially impact the bottom line (viewership, sponsorship, attendance) that action was likely? The NFL is like any other business in the respect that the survival of the business is what the business is all about. Thus far, the calculation seems to be he's not a desirable candidate for employment. We only know this because 32 teams have taken a pass. seems 100% predictable to me. -
Richie Incognito Retires Via Twitter - Now Confirmed
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sure that's a big part of his concern, and likely wouldn't offer the $300k to a retiring cb. on the other hand, LeSean seems willing to share his opinions freely and his comments don't strike me as sarcastic or insincere. Good point on other Bills players. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. And it does seem that RI is all over the page emotionally on this. -

Mike Rowe's Pledge---Watcha Think?
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
look, this feels like a trap. i don't think he's ever been murdered but he never said he wasn't. all this legal mumbo jumbo about contexts is confusing. I'll just sign the damn pledge. -
Mike Rowe's Pledge---Watcha Think?
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I emailed Mike on the issue of murder at work and whether or not he supports it. He is" adamantly opppsed to it" and called it "bad". He feels strongly that murder should not take place on the job. He also suggested that if you find yourself murdered at work, you should get the police involved as soon as practical. Fwiw he seemed sincere. -
i don't know. I think some people are conditioned not to think beyond what the guy can do for the football team, because what they really care about is the performance of the football team. anything that can impact that, or take away from the goal, or impede progress is naturally a matter of debate. Additionally, some people take it personally when a player voices an opinion that conflicts with theirs. it's complicated, like spending your money on tickets to see an artist who politics for a candidate you find despicable. Or like arguing with your best friend who disagrees with you about whatever the political flavor of the day is. Seems pretty straightforward to me. On the other hand, JR putting it out there works for everyone if he delivers, and he looks like a slapdick numbnut if he washes out.

what is it, as an "independent", that has you more enraged at the lies and deceptions of this prez vs any of the previous leaders? Or the lies of members/prior members of the Senate /House ( McCain, Reid, etc)? Or prior candidates, Clinton etc. is it a stylistic concern? Have you aged into it? Or is it just the last 2 years or so that have you frothy?

Mike Rowe's Pledge---Watcha Think?
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Except, of course, we don't really know what, if anything, he had to rise above to achieve what he achieved. Perhaps he chooses not to share his struggles, perhaps he had none and he benefited solely through white(walker) privilege. Hard to say, but yeah, it's fair to think he had it all, or if not all, most, and if not most, more than some.
