  1. Pay Milano now and kick the can down the road on Edmunds.
  2. In hindsight, I suspect the team was a lot more gassed than people realized heading into the game. That, coupled with crowd noise (normally no big deal, but unique in the context of this season), lack of running game, hopeless inability to pressure Mahomes, was just a bad combination. We played on our heels basically the whole time. Next year will be different.
  3. Totally agree on J Phillips. Missed his attitude and pressure very, very much this year. There are a lot of other things that are "wrong" with the D-line, but the absence of an ability to generate consistent pressure probably was the biggest one.
  4. Time and experience.
  5. Feliciano and Allen are TIGHT. And the line gelled when Feliciano returned. No way they let him walk if his contract demands are reasonable. Not a chance.
  6. Brown is a goner. Q. Jefferson, Addison, and Vernon Butler might find themselves on that list, too. I'd rather give Brown's money to Milano. It's a no-brainer. The D-line will be rebuilt this off-season, as will perhaps the right side O-line (out of cap necessity, more than anything else; Feliciano may get Morse's money) and our RB corps. It's flaming obvious that we lost last night in the trenches.
  7. They help each other. Allen easily could have been Mayfield or Darnold or Rosen or Mason Rudolph. But he’s not, in no small part bc of what daboll has done. And Allen has helped Daboll a lot because a great deal of our success is attributable to off schedule plays that only Allen can make.
  8. I'm feeling it, too. Dunno about two non-O scores, but . . . I just have this feeling that we are ready to roll. I expect a couple of forced turnovers. Can't wait to see what McD and Frazier put together.
  9. Like there was ever a doubt. I hope we test his processing speed with all sorts of fun stuff on Sunday. Robbers, feigned A-gap pressure, d-line dropping, zone pressure, traps. Let's see how fast he can sort things out.
  10. He has value. And he’s played admirably in spurts this year. Watching the Ravens 300 pound beast at FB made wonder whether Zimmer might get a look at that role in camp next year. Every penny and every roster spot counts, and he might offer a bit of flexibility in that area if he sticks around next year.
  11. I’m in my early forties. Been going to games with my dad as STHs since I was six years old. Skipped the playoffs because of COVID concerns. When the fan was shown on the broadcast bawling his eyes out after the Indy game, I got it. Told my mom that I would have been doing the same thing if I was there without my dad. Jeremy White’s piece was beautiful. I haven’t lived it, but I understand it. I hope he finds comfort, peace, and joy in this weekend’s game.
  12. I was pretty surprised about Staley last night, but now it makes a lot more sense. Everyone thought the hire would be about Herbert. It's actually about Mahomes, and it's kind of smart. The best way to win the division is for Herbert to keep being Herbert, and for someone to crack the Mahomes code. Staley might be able to improve the defense much more than Daboll (or anyone else) could improve Herbert and the offense. So, having taken a step back . . . I get the hire.
  13. After last night, yes. He’s earned it.
  14. My bet is Dorsey gets OC, they bring in a senior offensive assistant with experience in EP, Chad Hall gets a nice raise for being awesome at his job, and Davis Webb is the QB coach next year. Pure speculation, but who doesn't like to speculate now and again.
  15. Williams probably is insurance against an RB testing positive tomorrow. Jackson likely won’t play, but it makes me wonder if we’re going to take the chargers approach from a few years ago and play lots of DBs.
  16. I'm gonna go with potentially Darron Lee. Stills seems less likely to me, unless something is wrong with Brown/McKenzie and they want someone with speed to run jet sweep/pop pass here and there. Speed at LB seems much more important to me in this case if we approach Jackson like we did last year. I can see us sitting Andre White, dressing Dodson in his place (ST takes a back seat here), and going either with Lee or maybe even Antonio Williams (less likely) in place of Gilliam (ST is really taking a back seat in that event). Bates probably could fill the TE3 role, especially if they're planning on running 4 wide much of the game. I suppose if the gameplay is really receiver heavy we might see Stills just so an injury to a WR doesn't knock us out of the game. But I kind of wonder if we're going to see Lee as a counter to Jackson. The Pats fumble, IIRC, was pretty bad. He kind of got flipped and the ball launched from his arm. I doubt McD trusts him.
  17. I think we'll see Wiliams brought up as insurance against Singletary/Yeldon going down for a COVID reason the night before or the day of the game. Yeldon was that guy (for Singletary/Moss before), but with Moss out there's no such safety net. So we see Williams elevated and then inactive on Saturday. *And by "elevated" I mean that Williams will be one of the two PS players added to make "55" this week. I vaguely recall a fumble that was launched into the air against NE in the home game last year. That was more or less the end of Yeldon's shot to be a primary ballcarrier here.
  18. Four wides, a little bit of Lee Smith here and there in max protects, and let's see what happens. Play to our strength. Completely agree.
  19. It’s an interesting thought. The chargers shut him down a few years ago playing 7 DBs. We hemmed him in last year with, from what I recall, was a base D and lots of Lorax. We will find out on Saturday, I guess.
  20. My little brain doesn’t understand the last paragraph. But I think we’ve found common ground on the first paragraph. And that is a good thing!
  21. How old is Watson? 24-ish, right? If they think this guy has at least another decade of high-end football in him, it might not be the worst thing to give Bienemy a shot, see what happens for a year or two, and go from there. They can get it right faster with Watson than with just about any other player or combination of players, so giving in might not be the worst move here.
  22. I gotta stick to my point about the Capitol being in a class by itself. It's not a neighborhood in Philly or Portland or Seattle or wherever. It is the seat of the first branch of government. That's what makes this different. It's not an attack on a street, a neighborhood, or even a city. It's an attack on what literally is the image of our government and our democracy. That's why it has to be dealt with harshly, regardless of who pays the price--MAGA, leftist, somebody who just got caught up in the moment, whatever. The nature of the attack compels a significant consequence.
  23. Good. I don't think there's an analogy to be drawn between the Capitol BS and what occurred this summer. The Capitol is in a class by itself. But to the extent it's relevant, I completely agree with you. Any rioters from this summer should have been prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and all of the insurrectionists and traitors (that is, everyone) who stormed the Capitol should receive the same treatment.
