  1. This is not a political observation. It’s a practical one. I agree with what you said. And I fear that nobody in charge is smart or energetic enough to deal with the AI ripple that may well become a tidal wave. Trump and Biden both are long past prime. Harris would not have been all that much better. JD is, in my view, not a guy who’s gonna get elected for a variety of reasons. America is dying for someone young, normal, energetic, and thoughtful.
  2. Apparently the theory is that a clunky offense with a mediocre defense will yield a different result. I suppose it will, because if this keeps up someone is getting fired.
  3. I rather not trade him and get the defensive line right so there’s more assets in terms of draft capital and financial capital to dedicate to receiver. It’s harder to find Josh than it is to find the other things. And, if we’re successful in the Joe Brady system, then we probably end up paying someone like Brock Purdy $55 million anyways do the same nonsense that Josh is doing right now. I’d rather play to Josh‘s strength. But we simply don’t have the personnel to do that right now. It’s a huge indictment of Beane. Can’t find defensive lineman. Can’t find receivers. Can’t be here moving forward unless this gets fixed immediately.
  4. If this is the plan then we’re better off having traded Josh, signed Dan Jones, and used the picks plus the $40m savings to boost the rest of the roster. And maybe designed the defense to be heavier. The strategy is not terrible, but it’s too inflexible, too overused, and doesn’t play to our strengths.
  5. Another instance of mutual responsibility. Yes, under Biden, there were walkbacks and probably some periods of shutdown, but that's only part of the story. Similar approaches were taken under Trump, and it's reasonable to conclude that had Trump taken COVID seriously (no masks, no social responsibility, taking the vax, then hinting against it, following his Lysol idiocy and the friggin charade on the rotunda saluting a helicopter after he damn near died of the virus) then we would have had fewer restrictions later. Trump's inflation, frankly, is a continuation and an exacerbation of the Trump/Biden inflation that started in 2020 and that still has not been adequately addressed. Now, Trump is compounding the problem by suggesting more free money (something that's free, of course, has no value) following his tariff/tax hike on American consumers. All of the jive about "economic boom" and "increasing supply" isn't going anywhere when consumer confidence is in the pits. Add in AI job cuts, and an otherwise contracting job market, and problems are on the horizon. Meanwhile, the sycophants follow along with whatever crazy idea a guy who, if not in the public eye, probably would have issues keeping his driver's license comes up with. The whole thing is madness.
  6. Where does it say "every" in the quote you provided? It doesn't. It also doesn't say "no." That's the point. If it wasn't an issue, then the answer would have been "no."
  7. Thai is plenty logical to me, but I’ll add that 17 has to sign off on the coach. If I’m him, I’m not splitting time on opposite coasts convincing my wife to spend a solid three months a year on a gray atmosphere that is super conducive to football and work but not great for someone used to a different lifestyle who can’t work here UNLESS it’s worth it. Worth it has to mean good culture and fun on and off the field. It’s probably why guys like Knox are still here (although I have it on good authority he was shopped prior to the deadline). Those thoughts lead me to someone proven (say Matt LaFleur if he gets canned) or much more likely someone familiar (Daboll or, here it is from left field, Davis Webb).
  8. Agreed. And I really think McSchottenheimer is safe. If I’ve learned one thing about Sean, it’s that he will sacrifice others to save himself. The no show on 13 seconds. Canning Farwell and then Dorsey. DC changes. If the pattern persists, the next logical sacrifice is … the GM.
  9. Schoen and this is where it gets tough. Probably Daboll, and I recognize the insanity of taking the guys the Giants fired. But I don’t know that I’d swap out both GM and coach. If it’s one or the other, then it’s easy. Beane is gone. He fell in love with his guys and did a lot of overpaying and frankly missed too much. This years WR room did it for me.
  10. Top of the drop is a great point. He hits it now and with the exception of Kincaid nobody is open.
  11. Also the field is more condensed with the tight splits and lack of wideouts,
  12. I agree with a lot of this, except for blaming it solely on Biden. If we want to talk seriously for a moment, both Trump and Biden are responsible for inflation. Pent up demand (Trump), low supply (Trump, and later Biden), and then free money (Trump) led to a problem that was not adequately resolved (Biden) and arguably compounded with additional free money (Biden). This idiotic talk of more free money (Trump) isn't going to help anything, and trying to address the rate issue (now Trump, due to economic factors of mutual responsibility) through a friggin 50-year mortgage isn't going to solve any of the issues that you raised.
  13. What McDermott didn't say was "no." Which, in turn, says it all.
  14. I thought more about this. We should “Andre Holmes” this guy as soon as Gave is ready. Make an example of him. We don’t do his ess here. Adios.
  15. This is what happens when you have a $14m QB. We don’t, so we should rely on that guy to overcome weaknesses elsewhere. But we play slow and under center and make no effort to attack in that way.
  16. Balance is the key. We’re not there. Also, we can be balanced without neutering 17.
  17. It’s as dumb as it sounds. Let’s take a once in many lifetimes QB, pay him $55m, stick him under center, run a ton of 13, take him totally out of rhythm, and intentionally try to limit the number of possessions we give him. We’re playing a style teams on a rookie QB contract or mid level starter should use, meaning that the balance of our roster will be of lesser quality. It’s so friggin dumb it boggles the mind. That’s it. Discuss.
  18. This non answer says it all. I respect the fact that McD didn’t burn him in public. But all I had to do was say no. He didn’t. So there is an issue.
  19. Get this guy the eff out of here. He dogged it yesterday.
  20. I understand what you’re saying and that is pretty damning re McShottenheimer.
  21. What’s your point? He failed, and then succeeded. Seems like a strange issue to contest.
  22. Really? Belichick sucked in CLE. Marv sucked in KC, too. I’m not saying that Daboll or anyone else is the next BB. I am, however, making the point that people can and do learn from failure. I heard it wasn’t as frosty as it’s been. Maybe around the time of Josh’s wedding. But who knows. McD might see him as a threat now and this might have to be driven by Josh.
  23. Maybe. You could well be right. But are we winning a Super Bowl with this group? I don’t think so. The last month of trash and malaise tells me it’s time to think about what’s next.
  24. He was coach of the year. And sometimes people have to fail before they succeed. Marv, Belichick, Andy Reid, whatever. It’s more common in life than the Sean McVay route, in my view.
