  1. I never thought I would defend the gangsta network MTV but they did give us Jackass, Beavis & Butthead and Celebrity Deathmatch....Of course that was all years ago - it is truly painful to watch mtv today. As far as worst show, any "reality" show gets my vote. A bad sitcom has the potential to transform from bad to so bad it's funny. On the other hand, "Reality" shows just suck and have helped take the collective IQ of America down about 20% (as if we needed any help )
  2. So when will they realease the 2005/2006 schedule????? Would love to catch a Sabres game when I come up for the Bills.
  3. Finally got to see the In Their Own Words on Sam Wyche tonight - good stuff. After that show there was an NFL Films piece on head coaches. About a half hour was a feature on Lou Saban. Really interesting story on one of the top coaches in Bills history. Recommended viewing if you see it listed (and since the nfl network seems to run things repeatedly it'll probably be on again soon).
  4. And he's held that Triple Crown for a loooooong time. Michigan deserves better than him - Michael Moore, anyone?
  5. I know there's plenty of rock and rollers at the wall. Aug 4 - Lafayette Square, Buffalo. Ian Hunter w/Willie Nile as support. Free show There's actually a few good shows going on in July and August - wish I was up in Buffalo... http://www.buffaloplace.com/aboutus/market...certseries.html
  6. As a Long Island Bills fan I've been going to see the Bills at Giant Stadium for 15 years. Giant fans are more civilized - you'll hear a lot of Norwood and wide right cracks but they are not as lobotomized as Jet fans. The Jet games were a lot more fun during the Kelly era. At least a third of the crowd were Bills fans - an even higher percentage during the Rich Kotite years. These days I'll take one of my daughters to the game with me and they understand why they can't wear their Bills jerseys to NJ. I saw the Bills play at the Vet years ago (24-17 Bills win) from one of the boxes so I can't really judge them but my friend from PA who got the seats said that you don't want to be in the upper level with the Eagle fans. I also saw the Bills up in Foxboro in 94 & 95. In 94 it was the Pats home opener and the Bills came back late to win (38-35 I think). Great game and the fans were relatively good. The next year I went to the Monday Night game - the first game Marv missed after being diagnosed with cancer. What a nightmare. Thurman goes down in the first half and the Bills stink it up and we're surrounded by Ma**holes who have been drinking heavily. I knew it would be bad when we went out to dinner by the marketplace in Boston before we headed to Foxboro and we saw a couple of Pats fans in their jerseys stomping some guy outside a bar. Back then I would never leave a game before the end even if the Bills were losing. We didn't get out of the parking lot till after 1:30 am after getting a lot of crap from every wise guy who saw the NY plates on our car. I swore off Monday Night road games after that night. In general, road game experiences are generally better the closer you are to the field.
  7. Don't kill off Levon Helm just yet! He's still alive - it was Rick Danko who died a while back (late 80s/early 90s maybe).
  8. Joe Strummer. Saw him back in the day with the Clash and loved it. Saw him in '99 with the Mescaleros and was blown away. Missed the last tour and then he was gone.
  9. AMEN Brother!!! The pregame shows on Fox and CBS are more painful than an Oprah special on the Lifetime Channel. Whether I'm watching the game at home or at the local drinking hole, I only start watching the tv at 12:59 or 4:14. Hopefully the NFL network will do something to help us junkies out in Primetime's absence. I like NFL Networks Point After but that runs the next day. As somebody pointed out earlier, we want the highlights that night.
  10. A quick top ten (in alphabetical order): A Fish Called Wanda Full Monty Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels Napoleon Dynamite Office Space Pulp Fiction Still Crazy Swingers Trainspotting Zoolander
  11. At the Arizona game at the Ralph last year (Halloween day) there was a guy with an OJ Simpson jersey wearing a Homer Simpson mask - that was good!
  12. A nice hefe weizen is most excellent on a warm day. Franziskaner makes a good one. If he doesn't care for wheat beers, you can't go wrong with an ipa like Brooklyn Brewery's. Premier carries both. Cheers!
  13. They serve a purpose - I can bring them into the bathroom with me. Can't do that with my computer. I like them for the schedules and the quick reads on the other teams. I usually pick up one which stays on the shelf under the coffee table for reference during the season.
  14. Phil Jackson = OVERATED I would be moderately impressed if he can reign in Kobe Bryant - that is, if I really cared about the NBA.
  15. Peter, What's happening.... Office Space is one of those movies you can use as a character barometer - if the people you work with tell you they didn't get it or didn't think it was funny, it's time to move on... Giant magazine had a good article on the cast of Office Space last month. Their web site has a little bit of it: http://www.giantmag.com/help/framesetHandl...officespace.php
  16. Boston: Great city except for the people....
  17. That replaces the one I printed out from bb.com - nice job
  18. While I'm not thrilled about our current injury riddled tight end corps, I think that if they are able to get healthy we'll be fine. Living down in Jet/Giant land I've heard more about big mouth Shockey than I can stand. The guy has a lot of skills but he's not a great team player and he still makes a lot of mistakes. And he's an a**hole from all appearances. Tight end is not the position you want to be spending huge money on which is what a player like Shockey will command.
  19. I think TKO & Fletch have the same kind of relationship that Biscuit & Talley had. Fletcher/Talley are the leaders on the field, the guys who are there every day, the players who make the calls on the field and who keep the other guys in line (I still think Fletcher has a little ways to go before he matches Talley's level - Talley was THE heart and soul of those Bills defenses) Spikes/Bennett are the big play guys who get more of the recognition around the league. Playing next to Fletcher/Talley helps them get to that level.
  20. Nice - thanks for the link.
  21. It's been quite a few years. After killing off Buster, he was doing some stuff as David Johansen and the Harry Smiths (I think they were doing roots blues music and stuff like that - I never heard any of it). A few years ago he did some shows as David Johansen where he did his Dolls stuff and his rock & roll solo stuff. Then the Dolls reunion last year and now this, the closest to a tour the Dolls have done in almost 30 years. I saw them at the Underground Garage show at Randalls Island last summer and they were really good but this weekend's show at Irving Plaza was great.
  22. After seeing some of the OT posts on favorite albums at TSW, I know there are some Dolls fans in the audience. If any of you are in the NYC area I recommend you try and catch them at Irving Plaza tonight (Sat. 4/30). It's the last night of a three night stand and possibly the last area chance to catch a bit of rock and roll history. I went last night and had a blast. It's just David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain left from the original band (that's what happens when the rest of the band members are dead...) but they had the bass player from Hanoi Rocks along with some other players and they were tight as hell. Here's the set list: Lookin' For A Kiss Puss 'N' Boots Subway Train Piece Of My Heart (Janis Joplin cover - great!!) Bad Girl You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory ->Lonely Planet Boy Private World Pills (AMAZING!!!!!!!!!) We're all in Love (a new song) Mystery Girls Frankenstein Out In The Street (Shangri-La's cover) Trash Jet Boy Personality Crisis Encore: Human Being Johansen and Sylvain were having a blast joking around and just digging the crowd reaction. If you were ever into the Dolls this is a must see.
  23. Looks like Coach Mularkey is going to have to put on the pads and help out at Tight End - he has the experience...
