  1. Good things: 1. The return of the screen pass - well executed and timed, loved it. 2. Willis running strong 3. Eric Moulds "breakout" night - nice TD 4. Aaron Schobel's steady play all night 5. Daimon Shelton's third down conversion reception 6. Shaud Williams third and long draw converion 7. Time of possession 8. Adam Vinateri missing a field goal 9. Our new RT, Jason Peters. 10. Sticking to a game plan Bad things: 1. Bennie Anderson. He sucks, plain and simple and should not even be a backup on this team. 2. Nate Clements - playmaker my a$$ 3. NE kicking away from Terrence McGee and then the one time he gets a kick he fumbles it out of bounds. 4. Pulling Fast Freddie for Roscoe on punt returns. 5. The ESPN suckfest with Teddy Brusci - who cares about Teddy? Not me. 6. All the stupid trick plays the Bills ran in the first Quarter. 7. Field goals instead of touchdowns. 8. Dumb a$$ Lee Evans penalties 9. Not getting that pass "reception" overturned 10. Throwing short of the first down on fourth and the game. Nobody ever said it would be easy rooting for this team.... Feel free to add.
  2. SCREW THE VETERANS!!!!!!!!!! What about us?????? They're getting paid and we're the ones paying them.
  3. Lost my satellite signal with three minutes left in the game. Ordinarilly I would be pissed but I already knew how it was going to end, I had tired of the three stooges' Pats lovefest and just didn't care anymore. Turned on the radio and found the morons announcing the game on radio were just as stupid as the three amigos. Perfect....
  4. You forgot all the XXXOOOOXXXXXOOOOXXXXOOOOO from the three a$$ lickers in the booth and the deep interview with Robert Kraft as the game is turning. Unbelievable.
  5. Well he was a good interview..... The problem with Gregg-o or anyone coming in with an airhorn and telling everyone how he's going to make the team disciplined and how he's going to make a great defense even better is that he had never been a head coach before! If you're going to be a Grade A hump you better have a history of success at that level backing you up or it's not going to fly with veterans or young players. Coughlin had previous success in Jacksonville, Parcells had success everywhere he went - these guys can get away with their style of coaching. BTW, I wouldn't want Fisher up here. I don't think we can say Mularkey is a wash just yet. He does need to reign Grey in with his schemes and get the defense to play a little more conservatively by putting the players in position to make plays. In the same way he needs to throw the gimmicks out of the offensive playbook and get Clements in line before this offense completely implodes.
  6. It's true - for the record the most 330 yard games Kelly ever had in one season was 6 in 1991. And the Bills single season record of seven 300 yard passing games was set in 2002 by everyone's favorite whipping boy, Drew Bledsoe.
  7. I was at that game. It was even worse seeing it live and then having it replayed on the jumbotron while surrounded by Jet fans.
  8. If conditioning is a problem, maybe the organization shouldn't have let or made Rusty Jones leave. Would you have let this man go?: Rusty Jones Position: Strength and Conditioning Coordinator A veteran of 20 NFL seasons, Rusty Jones was hired as the Bears strength and conditioning coordinator on February 3, 2005. Coming to Chicago from Buffalo, Jones is just the third full-time strength coach in team history since the position was created in 1974. Jones had spent his entire NFL career with the Buffalo Bills after being hired in June of 1985. He spent 19 years as their strength and conditioning coordinator before being promoted to director of physical development/assistant to the head coach prior to the 2004 season. During his tenure in Buffalo, Jones worked under six head coaches including Hall of Famer Marv Levy and worked with over 25 different Pro Bowlers including Hall of Famers Jim Kelly and James Lofton. The Bills qualified for the playoffs in 10 of Jones' 20 seasons with the team, including four consecutive Super Bowl appearances. Recognized around the NFL as one of the finest strength, conditioning and nutrition experts in the business, Jones was instrumental in creating a nutritional program specifically designed for each Bills player to maximize performance and to maintain year-round health. Jones gained league-wide notoriety for getting Buffalo's players in top physical condition while the Bills enjoyed success running the "no-huddle" offense in the early 1990's. Prior to joining the Bills in June of 1985, Jones spent two years as the conditioning supervisor for the DeBartolo Corporation, working in Pittsburgh with the Penguins, Spirit and Maulers (1983-84). Jones earned a physical education degree from Springfield College (Mass.) and taught for two years at Dover High School in New Hampshire. The native of Berwick, Maine and Noble High School returned to Springfield to earn a master's degree in exercise physiology (1979-82), serving as a graduate assistant with the football program during that time. Jones and his wife, Sharon, have one son, Tyler. Sharon is a professional singer who often performed the national anthem at Bills games. actual link: http://www.chicagobears.com/team/coachbio.jsp?id=6494 I don't know enough about our current strength and conditioning coach but why did we let one of the best in the business leave? If our offensive linemen are tired after the performance they're giving something is very wrong.
  9. And let's look at that last Raider posession: Oakland Raiders at 07:41 1-10-OAK31 (7:41) L.Jordan left tackle to OAK 30 for -1 yards (A.Crowell). 2-11-OAK30 (7:01) K.Collins pass to J.Foschi to OAK 36 for 6 yards (L.Fletcher). 3-5-OAK36 (6:18) L.Jordan up the middle to OAK 47 for 11 yards (A.Schobel). PENALTY on OAK-A.Treu, Offensive Holding, 10 yards, enforced at OAK 37. 3-14-OAK27 (5:51) L.Jordan right guard to OAK 44 for 17 yards (C.Wire). 1-10-OAK44 (5:06) L.Jordan up the middle to OAK 46 for 2 yards (J.Posey, L.Fletcher). 2-8-OAK46 (4:22) L.Jordan right guard to BUF 48 for 6 yards (A.Crowell). 3-2-BUF48 (3:35) L.Jordan up the middle to BUF 42 for 6 yards (J.Greer). 1-10-BUF42 (2:52) L.Jordan up the middle to BUF 40 for 2 yards (A.Schobel). 2-8-BUF40 (2:46) Z.Crockett right tackle to BUF 31 for 9 yards (J.Greer). 1-10-BUF31 (2:02) L.Jordan up the middle to BUF 24 for 7 yards (T.Vincent). 2-3-BUF24 (1:58) Z.Crockett right tackle to BUF 23 for 1 yard (T.Anderson, J.Greer). 3-2-BUF23 (1:47) Z.Crockett left end to BUF 11 for 12 yards (T.Vincent). 1-10-BUF11 (1:10) Z.Crockett up the middle to BUF 8 for 3 yards (C.Kelsay). 2-7-BUF8 (1:01) Z.Crockett right end to BUF 2 for 6 yards (A.Crowell). 3-1-BUF2 (:18) Z.Crockett right guard for 2 yards, TOUCHDOWN. S.Janikowski extra point is GOOD, Center-A.Treu, Holder-S.Lechler. BUF 17 OAK 38, Plays: 15 Yards: 69 Possession: 7:27. 15 plays - 14 rushes. Bills rush d sucks
  10. Maybe... 1. If Willis hadn't opened his big mouth earlier in the week 2. If our defense could actually stop a running play 3. if we were a divisional opponent who they would be playing again later in the season 4. if we actually desrved any respect then the Raiders would have taken a knee.
  11. Time to play devil's advocate.... Out of those two or three teams in similar standing as the Bills: Green Bay is publicly held - can't move, won't move. Pittsburgh Steelers - winning history + Rooney family continuity make them a non move. Extracting the new stadium reinforces their status. Cleveland Browns - we all saw what that prick Art Modell did to the city. Fortunately there was enough of an uproar and a strong enough economic base to bring the team back. Unfortunately in that three year absence they lost all of the charcter of the team and have been saddled with a substandard team. Cronell is, however, a good start back to respectability. But the Dawg Pound in the new stadium is ridiculous - it's like teenagers wearing tie dye t-shirts to a Grateful Dead cover band show. You can't recapture the moment. Which brings us to the Bills. Ralph has never publicly set down his succession plan. WNY is a depressed economy. We had better hope for a knight in shining armor to come in when Ralph checks out and hope that the new owner is happy being the big fish in a small pond because if the bean counters ever come in we're toast. Don't get me wrong - I hope the Bills never leave Buffalo in my lifetime or ever. I think it would be a big loss to WNY and the nfl. But I am a realist and guys like Daniel Snyder, Jerry Jones, Bob Kraft etc. are the major players in the financial end of the nfl and they don't give a crap about history and the fans. They only care about the money that they can make.
  12. Joe Panos - what a bum. I remember talking to an Eagle fan friend of mine at the time of the signing - it was the first time I had heard the word turnstile applied to a lineman before. Who knew that would become the m.o. for our offensive line ever since.
  13. There are many things that have me shaking my head this season but the one that drives me crazy is how we can come out of the box, be succesful on that first drive and then move away from what was working on that initial posession. As someone else may have pointed out, if Mularkey scripts the first drive, maybe he needs to take the gameday playcalling away from Clements before it's too late. Gregg Williams let Gilbride continue down the wrong path and it cost him his job. Mularkey is offensively minded, maybe he needs to grab the reins. I think Mularkey can get the job done. But as with all first time head coaches, there will be some growing pains. In addition, this team needs to get it's own act together. The veterans are not getting it done.
  14. Nice first post BFG - I agree with you on all ponts except Lawyer. While I do feel he's lost a step I'm willing to give him a little slack because of the thumb injury. On the other hand I think Troy Vincent has been absolute crap at the free safety position.
  15. Isn't that when you send more rushers than there are blockers so you can sack the QB? Nope, haven't seen that lately.....
  16. Our pass D made the #3 receiver (Gabriel) look like a superstar today.
  17. Defense was more consistent Special teams played out of their heads Drew was allowed to throw the ball farther than 15 yards down field The o-line with Ross Tucker at center and JJ at LT was better. Willis gave the o a much needed boost And yes, we played a weaker schedule (NFC West vs. NFC South anyone?)
  18. Willis cannot yet carry Thurman's helmet. While he has amazing potential and a tremendous upside he hasn't yet : 1. picked up the blitz consistently like Thurman did 2. run the screen as well as Thurman did 3. been as consistent as Thurman was 4. grown up. Granted it took Thurman a little while to do all of these things but I still think that at the end of Willis'e in Buffalo he will still not reach the status of Thurman Thomas - the best all around back the Bills have ever had.
  19. 1. If smashmouth is two yards per rush and two yard passes to the tight ends and wide outs then we are snashmouth baby. If a team doesn't even attempt to throw downfield what do you think the opposing defense is going to do????? 2. Agreed - do not talk crap unless you are absolutely, positively going to back it up 3. This d doesn't have a leader since TKO went down. Fletcher may be the defensive captain but Spikes is the heart and soul. And btw, I hate Troy Vincent. 4. Thanks for stepping up Eric. You really supported the new guy and you've been amazing with Holcomb. 5. He'll still get ridiculous money in the free market but the guy proves on a regular basis that he is not a consistent top tier cb. 6. Jerry Gray is turning into the Kevin Gilbride of the defensive side. The blitzing worked last year. Is it Pat's absence or TKO's that makes it not work this year? He better figure it out because guys are out of position and our rush is not getting it done when it needs to. I can't believe our d is 6th in the afc in sacks because it sure as hell seems like we never get to the qb when we have to. 7.I said it when he was struggling and I say it now - we needed to stick with JP and get through the growing pains. Does anybody really think that Kelly Holcomb was the difference in the two victories at home against inferior divisional opponents? JP stepped into a buzzsaw in TB, kept the team in competition against possibly the second best nfc team (Atlanta) and lost a game in San Antonio where our special teams tripped over their feet, the defense sucked and the coaches went away from the running game after enjoying early success. TD MADE JP the starter. He cut Drew and annointed JP the starter without opening up the position to competition. I don't have a problem with that - we did trade up to get him after all. But stick to your guns. We are not that good a team. Let JP get his learning in and show us that we're moving in the right direction. 8. Hey, at least he has been quiet - hasn't he???? Good post btw.
  20. I don't think he'll ever make us forget Nate but I think a preemptive signing like this means goodbye Nate. The Bills aren't going to spend Antoine Winfield/Champ Bailey money on #22. That being said, I will be happy to see McGee locked up with the Bills for the next four years - he is one of my favorites on this squad.
  21. Flutie says he'll watch it for Roscoe since the Pats have a buy week...
  22. I had read the article a while back and the picture of the Seattle Stadium made it look like there wasn't much parking for tailgating. The stadium looks great but if there isn't tailgating why bother. I found the article very biased towards the new stadiums with all their upgrades for the people who like to have their own waiter serving them. If you want that then just stay at home, watch the game and have the kids bring you drinks and food from the kitchen.
  23. I don't think the Jets can afford a Phillip Rivers either this year or next. I think the idiotic contract they gave Pennington buts them in a bad way cap wise next year. I could see the Bears or Ravens making a move for Rivers in the off season.
