  1. Based on recent history it appears that our o-line can run block adequately but as a unit their pass protection blows. We just do not have the right horses up front to be an elite team. What drives me crazy is the Pats lose their starting LT and now have two rookies on their front five and Tom Brady still has enough time back there to go through ALL his reads, scratch himself and still find the open man. It all starts with the men on the offensive line and this group is making our talented skill players look very average. The shame is that this team has not put a priority on quality offensive line players for the last ten years. Since drafting Ruben Brown in the first round of the 95 draft, here are the Bills o-line draft picks: player - round - year - total number of picks for Bills that year Dusty Ziegler 6th round - 1996 (10) Jamie Nails 4-1997 (6) Marcus Spriggs 6-1997 (6) Robert Hicks 3-1998 (6) Victor Allotey 7-1998 (6) 1999-none (9) 2000-none (8) Jonas Jennings 3-2001 (12) Marques Sullivan 5-2001 (12) Mike Williams 1-2002 (10) Mike Pucillo 7-2002 (10) Ben Sobieski 5-2003 (8) Dylan McFarland 7-2004 (6) Duke Preston 4-2005 (6) Justin Geisinger 6-2005 (6) Add in our free agent pick ups like Joe Panos, Kris Farris & Trey Teague and that is some serious crap. I'm still hoping Big Mike can develop into the dominant player he should be but a #4 overall pick should already be well established by this point in his career. The jury is still out on Chris V. although getting "winded" during today's last drive is unacceptable. Bennie Anderson and Mike Gandy seem average at best (see last year's Lawrence Smith and Ross Tucker as reference points) . Duke Preston has some upside but is probably not ready for prime time just yet. Until the Bills get the right players in the right scheme they will be mediocre and will not be going back to the playoffs. Coach McNally may be good but he doesn't walk on water and he won't perform any miracles with this group. It was so nice when we had Wolford-Richter-Hull-Parker- Ballard on that front line.... Sorry, had to vent - Go Bills!
  2. As far as I know the only game he's ever missed in his nfl career was when his father passed away.
  3. The bottom line is that at the end of the day we could be 1-2 and in a three way tie for 2nd in one of the toughest divisions in football. Both of our losses have been against good nfc teams. Next up we face the Saints (who admittedly are hard to figure out) and then two division games against the fish and the jets. The fish are playing way above their heads right now and the jets could have some serious problems with both of their qbs banged up. It's not like last year's 0-4 start. Everyone jumping on and off the bandwagon are just going to hurt themselves. I didn't see any of the game today as I was coaching my daughters' soccer game so I have to reserve judgement on the coaching, playcalling or JP's play. As a fan I'm more concerned about Spikes and the severity of his injury. So let's all just take a deep breath and talk about this one.... BTW - I turned the tv on as soon as I walked in the door and saw Drew throw a pick that was returned for a td. I change the channel and hear that punk a$$ Rodney Harrison is out with an injury. So it's not all bad!!!!!
  4. 1,096 meooooooooooooooooow..........................
  5. You are correct sir - things don't just go to hell in a handbasket in a week for no reason. Ralph, the coaches, the team and all the fans are embarassed after that game last week. The Bills win big at home against Ron Mexico and the dirty birds and all will be well again.
  6. I think Weiss's leaving will hurt a lot more over the long run. The one thing I've noticed in the Oakland and Carolina games is how Corey Dillon is looking a lot like Antwoin Smith. That O-line is not as good as it has been.
  7. I'm ready for the JP rollercoaster ride this year - I hope it ends on a high note with a playoff spot. The one thing that worries me is if we're looking a year or two down the road to really compete, our D could be very different. No Nate, no big Sam(how much longer can he go?), our linebackers pushing ten years in the league, Troy Vincent & Lawyer getting older. I think the window for this defense to be very good is not very long.
  8. I think Jerry had his share of wedgies administered to him while he was growing up (probably a few swirlies too)...
  9. If we can take anything out of yesterday it was the fact that the Bills didn't turn the ball over against a good defense. No picks and no Penningtons.
  10. I don't know if anyone posted this before but here's one of the stranger facts regarding the Bills vs. Bucs history: The eight games the two teams have played have all been in Tampa Bay. The Bills are now 2-6 lifetime against the Bucs with the only wins coming in 1976 (when everyone beat the Bucs) and 1991 (when the Bills were on fire). But in case anyone thinks the NFL has something against Buffalo, all of the losses in TB prior to yesterday were in either November or December. We also played SB XXV down in Tampa and we know how that turned out I hate football in Florida - give me cold weather anyday for a game!
  11. Finally an article by Sullivan where I don't want to beetch slap him after I read it....
  12. Sorry - I should've bumped Joe Theisman for an all of the above option.
  13. ESPN has become unwatchable to me. If it wasn't for Primetime Live and the Sunday Night Football games (with a radio broadcast audio feed instead of the booth reporters), I would have no need for that station at all. And I expect the NFL Network's game day reporting to improve which could make Primetime a thing of the past soon. I migrated from ESPN to ESPN News to ESPN Classic and now I'm done with it.
  14. See, there's three kinds of people: dicks, pussies, and a$$holes. Pussies think everyone can get along, and dicks just want to f*ck all the time without thinking it through. But then you got your a$$holes, Chuck. And all the a$$holes want us to sh*t all over everything! So, pussies may get mad at dicks once in a while, because pussies get !@#$ed by dicks. But dicks also !@#$ a$$holes, Chuck. And if they didn't !@#$ the a$$holes, you know what you'd get? You'd get your dick and your kitty all covered in sh*t! thanks Team America - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0372588/quotes
  15. Two words - Jason Sehorn! With all the return guys on this team, Nate should be migrated off of this job.
  16. I don't understand it either but it's a great sport to watch
  17. How did Travis look for the Titans? I caught the end after he was out of the game. Why did they show that game as the featured game? I didn't expect the Bills game but I thought they would have shown the the Iggles or Patsies. I was surprised to see two sub .500 teams who are destined for more of the same on tv on Friday.
  18. They cut Parker and he went KC before ending up with the Giants. In hindsight they never should have let him go. I think Ziegler was a UFA.
  19. Bryce Paup - bust in Jacksonville Shane Conlan - good player for bad Rams teams until injuries got to him Will Wolford - Good player for Pittsburgh o-line Bruce - finally got to 200 sacks with the Deadskins Andre - one really forgettable year with Washington Thurman - same as Andre but with the Fish House Ballard - average career with Seattle
  20. They don't like all the '99 Sabres - this one surprised me: The Islanders have acquired forward Michael York and a conditional draft choice from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for center Michael Peca. York was 16-26-42 in 64 games with Edmonton in 2003-04, 22-29-51 in 71 games with the Oilers in 2002-03. As an hockey fan, I always liked Peca's play. As an Islanders fan I was happy to see him come to L.I. While he hasn't been the same since Darcy Tucker's cheap shot back in the 2002 playoffs, this move still surprised me. They've now let go of two of the on ice leaders in Aucoin and Peca and I'm not expecting Yashin and Satan to lead them to the promised land....
  21. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/foot...02/q.a.mcgahee/ I can't wait to see Willis run over a full season. He's going to be something special. Favorite quote: "We just got our mouths wet, and now we're ready to put our face into it this season" - I think he's talking about last year's winning streak
  22. Islanders fan here - this seems like a downgrade for the Isles. I know of Zhitnik in passing but I'm not real familiar with him whereas Aucoin has been a rock for the Isles for the last couple of years, a real workhorse who logs a lot of ice time. I can't believe he signed with the friggin' Blackhawks!!!!! So what's the Sabres fan take on Zhitnik? It seems like you guys are pissed at the Sabres for being cheap but is this a big loss? I would of thought that losing Satan would have been a bigger deal.
