  1. My instinct is that he should, but when I go back and look at film of the really bad games, I don't think so. Tyrod has simply missed wide open receivers down the field on too many occasions. He should have had two TD's this last weekend and instead came away with a whopping 3 points. I don't think he'll be fired. I think he's got another year with a new quarterback at the helm. For the record as well, I don't care if they do fire him. I've got no skin in the game.
  2. I dislike reaching for a player, simply because you think you need to fill the position. I believe that every quarterback in the draft this year has their flaws and that there isn't a clear question like the year that Wentz and Goff were drafted 1-2 and really could have gone in any order. Starting with Mason Rudolph, he put up good college stats in a system that was extremely QB friendly. He is a statue though. 225 rushing attempts for 31 yards does not impress. I've seen him rated the #1 QB prospect at the top end and the #8 QB prospect on the other end. I will immediately discount Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. If your college completion percentage is less than 60%, that's a red flag for me in the pros. At least Jackson can scramble, but then again so can Tyrod. Sam Darnold doesn't strike me as anything more than the next coming of Matt Leinart, except for the fact that Leinart's college numbers were better across the board. Josh Rosen doesn't jump off the board for me either. Nothing monumentally impressive about him. Then there's Baker Mayfield. Best completion percentage. Best TD/INT ration. Can run a little bit as well. His knock is his size. At 6-1, is he going to be any better than Tyrod at seeing his downfield targets? Like others, I would take the receiver in a heartbeat, but probably wait until the 2nd round for a QB unless one of these six guys really jumps off the page before the draft.
  3. It must be tailing gating and family family. Sounds legit. LOL.
  4. This has nothing to do with the regime and everything to do with the talent on the team. McCoy and Benjamin on offense and Hyde and White on defense. That's the only high caliber players that I really see on this team. Brady throwing the football is still 10X better than Tyrod running AND throwing the football. That's it in a nutshell. The spread could be 14 and I think I would still have my money on New England.
  5. If a dreamer can be a dreamer, I would love to see: R1 - Vita Vea (DT), Baker Mayfield (QB) R2 - Billy Price (OG), Tyrell Crosby (OT) After that, it would be gravy
  6. Not really. When I see Jackson, Rudolph, Rosen and Darnold all rated as the #1 QB prospect according to different so called "experts", it's pretty clear to me that there isn't a lead horse in this race. That's the more compelling point, no matter how you might like to spin it to promote the QB that you think is best. Personally, I think Lamar Jackson will be the first QB off the board. That's based on what we saw this year from Watson prior to his injury. Big dynamic QB that can throw and run. Sam Darnold is a statue that reminds me of Matt Leinhart. No thanks.
  7. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings/2018/QB There's one that would disagree with you right away. The simple point is that you can argue it until you're blue in the face. The ONLY way that the Bills could justify moving up is if THEY think there's a player that's better than the other 4. There just simply is not. This is not a Wentz/Goff or Luck/RGIII year where QB's are going 1-2. Seriously think people are smoking something if they think that's what's going to happen.
  8. There are arguably five quarterbacks in this upcoming draft that have first round pick value. Given all the other needs on this team, I don't see a single reason to give up a bunch of draft picks to move up. As far as Darnold and Rosen, they're not even rated the top prospect on most scouts boards right now. They're coming in at #3/#4, behind Jackson and Rudolph. They're basically hovering around 15-20th in terms of projected pick value. As far as Baker Mayfield is concerned, the Bills may be able to trade down and still get him. He's projected to be a very late first round pick or an early second. Remember when the Bills gave up a bunch of picks to move up because they thought a guy was so much better than his peers? Sammy Watkins anyone? Would anyone disagree that if we could undo that move and draft Evans or Beckham that we would have been happier? It's the same with the QB situation for me this year. I get that people are fed up with not having a franchise QB. The Bills don't. Trying to force it isn't the answer though.
  9. I'm left asking myself whether I actually care about this question at all. Why does it matter? Let's just assume for a second that they beat the colts and the dolphins twice. Let's just say for argument sake that they finish the season 9-7 and are a wildcard team. Then what? Road playoff game to Pittsburgh to get crushed? This Bills offense flails badly. Tyrod is the same QB today that he was 3 years ago. We saw more of this yesterday. Completely incapable of throwing a receiver open.
  10. This team is broken on both sides of the ball right now. I'm sorry to say it but Taylor is just not good enough to run this team. He holds onto the ball for far too much time and just isn't willing to throw his receivers open. It's so painfully obvious. The defense can't stop anyone right now. Most times, when you tell me that Drew Brees passes for 184 yards and no TD's, I'm going to tell you that they lost. The Saints just shellacked em. In terms of Peterman, I wouldn't start him until the Colts game. 3 more losses puts them at 5-7 and they can use the last 4 games of the season to see what he looks like as a starter. At some point, we have to know what we have in him before the draft next year. I can't believe for a second that there's no part of our front office that isn't asking this question. There's no way that you waste a first round pick if you think you have your guy.
  11. Bills defense can't be blamed. 3 turnovers by the offense and very little offensive production. Just terrible. Smelled like Cincy and Carolina all over again. Either the offensive play calling is wrong or Tyrod is wrong. Heck, maybe it's both.
  12. To me it's surprising and very impressive when the Bills offense is rated 31st. If the offense does not improve however, I think that this changes as the season goes on.
  13. It's a huge gray area whether the owners have the legal right to create new rules that previously didn't exist. That's precisely why they're NOT doing anything and haven't done anything now in going on 7 weeks. Bad lawsuit.
  14. This is 100% correct. If it was so easy to just change your "scheme" to run the football and move the ball down the field then every team in the NFL would be doing it. We've seen teams this year bring almost everyone up to the line to stop the run and force Taylor to beat them throwing it. He simply has not demonstrated any ability to do so. The Bills don't need him to be a 350 yard passer, but hovering around 150 isn't going to get it done.
  15. Hard core NFL fans won't tune out because of the Anthem protests. Casual NFL fans that still follow their team closely (like me) won't stop watching the Bills because of Anthem protests. Where I tune out is all of the other games in other time slots. Last night, I tuned into the pregame for the Chiefs-Raiders. Aware of the kneeling players during the Anthem, I changed the channel. I have not seen a single game outside of a Bills game this season and have no plans to do so. There's other fans just like me and it most certainly is related to the "protests" or whatever you want to call them. I don't have a problem with having a cause that they're trying to bring attention to. I just think that their method is screwed up. Do it on your time. Volunteer for public speaking engagements. Start your own non-profit. They have the freedom of course to sit, as they have the freedom to burn a flag. I have to respect that freedom, but certainly don't have to empathize or otherwise understand and agree with what they're doing.
  16. Doing a deal like this would accelerate $22m against the Bills cap. Might as well have suggested that the Bills give all of their draft picks next year to the Patriots for Jimmy G. Beyond dumb.
  17. He's only needed 34 games to "warm up". Perfectly reasonable that just NOW he's going to suddenly know how to throw receivers open and be quicker from snap to throw so he doesn't take sacks. He just needed that BYE week in year 3 of his temporary stay here in Buffalo.
  18. Let me take a short step back. Let's say that Peterman gets the nod to start the last 6 games of the year and looks great. My point is not that they won't draft a quarterback next year, but that they won't draft a quarterback EARLY. If he looks like a starter, you don't turn around and waste a high draft pick on another starter that will not get on the field. No team does that. That's where I was going with it.
  19. So last year we got away with holding? Kind of stupid unless you assume that we did. Holding often opens up big holes for running backs to make the big plays you're talking about. It's not just something that "happened".
  20. Have we not had enough of other teams' caste offs and rejects for the last 20 years? I don't want him, just like I don't want Krapsondick (or however it's actually spelled). If this Bills team decides that Taylor is not the guy going forward, I want to see Peterman. Show us what we have THIS year and determine whether we need to draft a quarterback next Spring. Besides all of that, I think that the Vikings will try to re-sign him for 2018. He's better than Keenum and Bradford, but really nothing special.
  21. Most of the blame (if you have the need to blame) falls on Taylor and offensive play calling. I posted this elsewhere, but in his 35 starts in the last 2+ years, Tyrod has lead the league in the average amount of time from snap to throw in 31 weeks. That is beyond mind numbing. As far as the running game, McCoy needs space to succeed. He's not a bruiser, nor ever has been. When opposing teams put 9 guys in the box and dare you to beat them through the air, McCoy is not going to have very many good games. We've seen that in the last 4 games in spades. You can't "scheme" your way out of it or keep running the ball and going 3 and out. Unlike most, I actually give credit to our offensive line. They are giving Taylor more time to throw the football than they should have to. The offense is pretty terrible as is, and Tyrod still can't "throw a receiver open". Has never had that tool in his bag.
  22. Taylor has to get the ball out quicker. The Bills don't have a bunch of speedsters on this team. Their differentiating factor is size. Jones, Matthews and Holmes are 6-2, 6-3 and 6-5 respectively. Clay and O'Leary are 6-3. Taylor should be throwing his receivers open in lieu of waiting for plays to develop like he does. In his 34 starts with the Bills, there were only 3 weeks where he didn't wait the LONGEST on average from snap to throw. That is a ridiculous statistic.
  23. Paul Lux in Chicago - The Bills are not a playoff contender. While the defense (via turnovers) has allowed this team to exceed expectations, the offense is beyond anemic. Teams that can defend the run and short passing game won't need to have a lot of offense themselves to win games. Getting McCoy more involved in the offense will be extremely difficult until Taylor proves that he can throw receivers open. Color me skeptical that this is much better than a 0.500 team.
  24. While I don't think that now is the time for change, the O.P. does have a point. I expected going into the season that this team would be 1-4 going into the BYE week with a win versus only the Jets. They're 3-2 and tied for the AFC East lead, so there's pretty much zero chance that they punt on Taylor at this point. With that said, I think the next 5 games will be extremely telling. While they'll get to see 3 of the worst run defenses in the league in the Raiders, Jets and Chargers, i think teams will learn from what happened this week and just not allow the Bills to run the football. Taylor has to THROW the running game open. If he doesn't, I predict that this team will be 0.500 at best after the Chargers game and at that point, out of the race for the AFC East. If that is the case, I will absolutely want to see what we have in Peterman. This team cannot afford to go into the offseason with two first round draft picks and not have a clue as to whether Peterman is just a preseason / camp warrior or potentially the guy of the future. I have zero confidence at this point that Taylor will be on this team next year.
