Funny, saw this in the Mixed-ish show the other night! Well, I went all in on a circuit city product called DIVX...it was a DVD player, but while you "bought" the DVD for like $3.99 vs $20 for a regular one, you paid like $1.99 each time you watched the movie. I was convinced it was gunna be huge. But this was the really the first product killed by a viral protest on the new fangled internet thingy! Movie snobs hated it! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DIVX

Very strange the different interpretaions of "lockdown". Swear here in Richmond, only thing really closed down is office buildings, big box clothing store like Kohls, and restaurants and bars. State and local parks open, golf courses open, small retail all open, Walmart, Home Depot and the like all open. Was out yesetrday, when on the main commercial surface streets no differnce in traffic than any other day. And yet the perception is we are in in much tighter lock down than Texas.. even when they "open " next week, Virginia in "lockdown" will still be more "open" than Texas

COVID-19 - Facts and Information Only Topic

hmm, 30% infection rate in this random study..granted in a highly dense location...i know @Hapless Bills Fan has explained why this may not be a good thing...but to me means mobidity rate is way less than we think..and we are closer to getting that herd immunity. Hapless, what number is considered "herd immunity"? Thanks https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/04/17/business/nearly-third-200-blood-samples-taken-chelsea-show-exposure-coronavirus/ -
I have been using web meetings since truly 2000. Back then it was strictly screen sharing. Intro demo's and the like have been online for at least the last decade. But from a enterprise software sales perspective, nothing beats in person. Online, i cant read body language, cant tell when people are bored to tears and we are missing the mark so lets stop and ask why etc. Also harder to gather true feedback from your sponsor/coach, so often done either right after demo in his/her office, or at happy hour 30 minutes after demo. And yes, i try to schedule demo's to end late afternoon...I do my best info gathering when we both have a few pops!!!!

1) Shakings Hands makes perfect sense from a practical standpoint, back when you wanted to know the dude across from you was not gunna grab his sword and eviserate you. Agree, think it is gone for good. 2) I got $100 you will be at the opener. Yea... not something that ever enticed me either. Some kid will watch a video of that ritual in 2050 and it will be akin to us seeing old clips of women smoking and drinking while pregnant.

Maybe some hope for a therputic https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2020/04/17/remdesivir-coronavirus-drug-gilead-sciences-covid-19-treatment/5150793002/ [Edit: report on compassionate use of remdesevir outcomes in New England Journal of Medicine. In contrast to some reports on other drugs, these were very sick people - 65% on ventilators or receiving ECMO. Partial data read out from ongoing clinical trial in Chicago.] -

Think I saw that Taiwan started basesball with cutouts like the movies do to simulate a crowd. I can see that happening here to enforce the social distancing piece. Cut out 3 seats, i seat open..cutout 3 seats, 1 seat open. -

Heads up. Beane is on Pardon My Take Friday’s podcast. I have not listened yet, but should be good. for those who have never listened to PMT, they are very funny, but can be too crude for some folks , especially with language.

NFL Preparing for all Options: Including No Fans
plenzmd1 replied to TroutDog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
thats the rub..lets say you cant play there..how can you play anywhere? Jets play the Bills...no Jet games at home, so all their fans from the City come to Orchard park to watch ...same as playing in Met life no? Such a freaking mess, lord knows what it is like in 3 months let alone 6 -

I know i am just optimistic, but i think it is way to early to call that yet. I mean we are 4 months from training camp, 5 from games. Lord knows what all the computer and AI in this world can do with treatment options. I think i am in the great majority of people in the middle on this thing...not a hox or overblown, but at some point the risk/reward becomes to great and we open things up soon..and we build herd immunity -
I was only at a couple games at the Rockpile, and they were always the super cold games when someone would give us tickets..and I agree, always seemed way colder than that Indy game was. I was perfectly fine at that game, ask @mead107. I do wonder though if our outerwear is just so much better today, and had i had the same clothes on I had back then, would i still have been freezing my tuchus off. Man, the Bisons games there on Friday with happy hour was great. Kelly, Reed and a few other Bills were ofetn at those happy hours, great fun. Cant remember really watching the game from seat much though!

SI Article: forget about sports this year
plenzmd1 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i dunno, the market sure has seemed to reacted positively to the news over the last 10 trading days or so..and those guys also saw the poop hitting the fan before the rest of us did. I would be willing to bet all NFL teams will be doing some kind of refund if you request it, and still hold your tickets for the 21 season if games go on. And no, we cannot predict with certainty anything that is going to happen, only a "insert your preferred noun here"would say such a thing. We have thje whole of the world just about looking for theraputics, trying to understand the virus and how it works, and how that plays out no one knows. -

Age no ? and the effects on the young..which seem to be minimal Agree with the entirety of this post..very smart man you are that we think alike? In terms of how many people have had it...i will look for the link but I am watching CNBC right now and one the hosts said NY Presbyterian Hospital admitted 200 women in the last little while for childbirth, allasymptomatic, and 39 tested poitive for the Rona...and thats great news( I think) -
saw this the other day when bored..little bit about how we are aging differently..but he was 34, and Norm 35..when Cheers started! Seemslike they werei in their 50s!

For us really old Buffalonians, and especially us in Niagara Falls with antenna TV, the Baby Blue movie on CITY out of Toronto was must see TV at sleepovers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Baby_Blue_Movie Most of us went the Sparkomatics from KMart! They really sounded as good as the triax, but at 1/3rd the price!
